Wed, 18 Jan 2017 06:51 MST"It wasn't the airplanes, it was beauty killed the beast." We weren't sure if this latest King Kong adventure would revisit the classic plot-point of the great ape becoming infatuated with the film's heroine, but this new Kong: Skull Island banner certainly suggests that will be the case. At the very least, the two seem to have some kind of rapport. Don't expect to be wiping tears away at the end of this movie though, as we already know Kong will live to fight another day when he goes one-on-one with Godzilla: King of Monsters in 2020. A team of explorers and soldiers travel to an uncharted island in the Pacific, unaware that they are crossing into the domain of monsters, including the mythic Kong. Starring Brie Larson, Tom Hiddleston, Samuel L. Jackson, John Goodman, Jing Tian, Corey Hawkins, Jason Mitchell, John Ortiz, Shea Whigham, and Toby Kebbell, Kong: Skull Island is set to be released on March 10th, 2017.
Wed, 18 Jan 2017 06:43 MSTAs we previously reported, the "final" trailer for James Mangold's Logan will be online tomorrow, most likely around 6am PT/9am ET/2pm UK time. Hugh Jackman himself confirmed this with the rather unconventional Tweet below, but we do also have a new still from the movie to tide you over. Jackman originally posted this pic with the caption "Storm", leading many to speculate that this might be a shot from Ororo's funeral. Personally, I reckon it's simply a reference to the weather, but I guess you never know - the other X-Men are assumned to be pushing up daisies, after all. pic.twitter.com/FoS99eXhtV — Hugh Jackman (@RealHughJackman) January 18, 2017 In the near future, a weary Logan cares for an ailing Professor X in a hide out on the Mexican border. But Logan's attempts to hide from the world and his legacy are up-ended when a young mutant arrives, being pursued by dark forces. Logan claws its way into theaters on March 3.
Wed, 18 Jan 2017 06:00 MSTBefore they were beheading Life Model Decoys, Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. were busy having a run-in with the vengeful Ghost Rider, Robbie Reyes (Gabriel Luna). Earlier in the season, we got to see the show's take on Robbie's origin story and how he became united with the Spirit of Vengeance. Fans were elated when it was revealed that a second Ghost Rider (implied but never confirmed to be Johnny Blaze) passed the spirit into Robbie, saving his life. Many people hoped that this small cameo was hinting at things to come; in the comics, Blaze was a mentor to Robbie, helping him understand what he had become. With Blaze seemingly appearing on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., some hoped we'd be seeing a team-up between the two Ghost Riders in a future episode, or a spin-off show focusing solely on them. Sadly, producer Jeff Bell has cleared the air on the subject which douses the chance of audiences ever seeing the two Riders unite. According to Bell,
Wed, 18 Jan 2017 05:03 MSTIt was revealed yesterday that actress Karen Gillan would be reprising her role as Nebula in the next two Avengers films, a move that makes sense, considering her father, Thanos, will act as the main antagonist. However, before she unites with Earth's Mightiest Heroes, we'll be seeing Nebula carve out a place with the Guardians of the Galaxy in their upcoming sequel this May. While we still don't know what causes the antagonistic Nebula to join the team of misfits, Gillan told The Wrap that audiences will get more background on her troubled relationship with her father and her sister, Gamora (Zoe Saldana). “What I love about the second movie for Nebula in particular is that we get — We know that she’s a pretty angry woman with some daddy issues. [But] in the second movie, we’re going to start to see how much pain her father actually caused her, and we’re going to delve right into the relationship with her sister Gamora.” The
Wed, 18 Jan 2017 04:44 MSTWarner Bros. currently have a number of live-action manga/anime features in the works (including the long-gestating Akira), and according to Deadline they've now added Hajime Isayama's Attack on Titan to the list. The studio is in the process of negotiating for the movie rights, and has Fantastic Beast and where to Find Them producer David Heyman lined up to develop the project. Attack on Titan, which tells the story of humanity's struggle to survive against a race of giant alien creatures, has already spawned several Japanese animated series and a 2-part live-action adaptation back in 2015, which WB and Heyman will apparently use as the basis for their take.
Tue, 17 Jan 2017 20:23 MSTSo, it turns out Jeffrey Mace isn't an Inhuman after all. The Director simply takes a type of cocktail derived from Mr Hyde's (Daisy's father) formula that gives him limited super-strength, and was actually planted as the new S.H.I.E.L.D. head by Talbot and his superiors. Though Mace will stay on as the public face of the division, Coulson is once again calling the shots. Squee! The promo for next week's episode teases some growing tension between Fitz and Simmons as the others begin to wise up to the fact that there's a traitor in their midst, and we also get a glimpse of May Vs. AIDA round 2. Check it out below, and let us know what you thought of "The Patriot" in the usual place. MARVEL'S AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D. - “Wake Up" - May races to find the truth about what happened to her, while Aida's next move could mean the death of them all, on "Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.," TUESDAY, JANUARY 24
Tue, 17 Jan 2017 18:34 MSTFox Searchlight has debuted another trailer for the upcoming big-screen take on Daniel Clowes' (Ghost World, Ice Haven, Mister Wonderful) Wilson. Before he heads off to the galaxy far, far away, Woody Harrelson will star as the titular character of the acclaimed graphic novel, who makes one last-ditch effort to reconnect with his drug-addled ex-wife (Laura Dern) when he realizes they have a daughter together. The movie also stars Judy Greer (Jurassic World, Ant-Man, Tomorrowland) and Cheryl Hines (Curb Your Enthusiasm). Check out hilarious trailer below, and let us know what you think. Wilson is directed by Craig Johnson (The Skeleton Twins), and is set to hit theaters in March.
Tue, 17 Jan 2017 15:50 MSTThe embargo on Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice reviews lifted just as the UK press tour began, and that meant pretty much everyone involved with the movie was forced to answer questions about what critics thought of it. In the case of Ben Affleck and Henry Cavill, an interview with the duo went horribly wrong when a disappointed (bored?) looking Affleck ended up becoming an internet meme. #SadAffleck soon overshadowed Batman v Superman, but during a recent interview (via Batman-News) for Live by Night, the director and actor finally weighed in on that. Asked what working on the blockbuster taught him, he responded: "It taught me not to do interviews with Henry Cavill where I don’t say anything and they can lay Simon & Garfunkel tracks over it. That’s one thing I learned." The filmmaker then went on to explain that the movie actually gave him a greater understanding of the technology used on modern big budget movies and told a fun
Tue, 17 Jan 2017 14:09 MSTBoth Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and Geoff Johns recently revealed that they'd had a very successful meeting regarding the first big-screen outing for DC Comics superhero, Shazam. The Rock is set to play the villainous Black Adam in the movie, though the search (presumably) continues for an actor to step into the role of Billy Batson/Shazam - however, we might just have an idea who is in line to helm the picture. Batman News has noticed that following the meeting, Johns followed director Brad Peyton on Twitter. Now, you might not think that means a whole lot, but it is worth noting that fans have managed to get the jump on several big announcements in this manner, including Rick Famuyiwa coming aboard The Flash (he's since left the project), and Joe Manganiello's casting as Deathstroke in Ben Affleck's solo Batman film. Also, Peyton has previously directed The Rock in the likes of Journey 2: The Mysterious Island, San Andreas, and the upcoming
Tue, 17 Jan 2017 12:58 MSTShooting is said to have already started on Avengers: Infinity War, and when ComicBook.com had the opportunity to catch up with Production Designer Charles Wood, they asked him about what we should expect from the movie. Needless to say, it sounds like it's going to even bigger than we all imagined! "Any time you turn that page on this script, you're kind of staggered, blown away, terrified by what's in front of you," Wood said in regards to seeing the sort of environments he and his team are tasked with making a reality on the big screen. "I think rather like Doctor Strange, you’ll find this film, it’s not regurgatative, yeah? What I’m trying to say, is, there are many, many, many new worlds to see in this film." Does that confirm theories we'll see Earth's Mightiest Heroes pay a visit to outer space? While Thanos arriving on Earth seems likely, it would be surprising if a big chunk of the action isn't set on
Tue, 17 Jan 2017 12:57 MSTAren't the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. looking dapper these days? Season 4 of Marvel's flagship show continues later tonight with a Mace-centric episode called "The Patriot", but before that you can check out some promo images for the January 24 installment, "Wake Up." The pics themselves feature Coulson, Yo-Yo and Aida, and while they don't really give anything away, the synopsis reveals that Dr. Radcliffe's paranoid android is going to become even more dangerous... like, wipe everyone out dangerous. Will you be tuning in tonight? Sound off below. MARVEL'S AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D. - “Wake Up" - May races to find the truth about what happened to her, while Aida's next move could mean the death of them all, on "Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.," TUESDAY, JANUARY 24 (10:00-11:00 p.m. EST), on the ABC Television Network. Tue, 17 Jan 2017 12:15 MSTThe folks over at Schmoes Know tend to be a little hit and miss in terms of scoops, but this one is well worth paying attention to seeing as it lines up with so much of what we've heard about Wonder Woman recently. Around the 1:41:30 mark in the video below, one of the team claims to have heard from an insider that the movie is a mess, and worryingly, that same person told them the exact same thing about Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice some time ago. Here's the exact quote from them: "So, I don't want to throw anyone under the bus. We have somebody within our community who has gotten insider information that broke my effing heart this week, because I have tremendous belief that Wonder Woman is gonna be awesome and I heard it stinks from the same person who told me that they heard that BvS stinks...The person who I spoke to...their response was 'I'm very
Tue, 17 Jan 2017 11:39 MSTWhen The Flash returns on January 24th, it will be in an episode appropriately titled "Borrowing Problems from the Future." As you can see in the promo below, Barry Allen is doing everything in his power to stop Iris West's death at the hands of Savitar from taking place, and whether or not he'll be able to succeed is clearly going to be a huge part of the second half of the show's third season now. Chances are she won't die, but here's hoping The Flash still has plenty of big twists and turns on the way as the story develops. Anyway, watch the promo and let us know your thoughts down below. BARRY FIGHTS FOR IRIS — Barry (Grant Gustin) is tormented by his vision of the future where Iris (Candice Patton) is murdered by Savitar. When a criminal named Plunder (guest star Stephen Huszar) shows up in Central City, Barry recalls the villain’s presence in his vision of the future and
Tue, 17 Jan 2017 09:56 MSTThe list of characters set to appear in Avengers: Infinity War seems to grow week by week and after talk of Nebula possibly making an appearance alongside the Guardians of the Galaxy, it has now been confirmed by Karen Gillan herself. The adopted daughter of Thanos, she's set to become part of the heroic team in this May's Vol. 2, but specific details on what we should expect aren't currently clear. Regardless of how she factors into the Marvel Cinematic Universe moving forward, it was in a new interview with the BBC that Gillan had this to say about what's next for Nebula. "So look out for those," she said in regards to Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and Jumanji before adding, "And then I’ll be making a little appearance in the next Avengers movies." So, we can expect to see her in both! That may very well confirm that Thanos will be the big bad of both Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers 4,
Tue, 17 Jan 2017 09:54 MSTLast week, Funko unveiled their first batch of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 figurines, but several of the new characters that'll be introduced in the sequel were not featured. However, thanks to MCU Exchange we now have our first look at the Ego the Living Planet POP! and DORBZ collectibles. Obviously these toys aren't very detailed, but they do give us some idea of how the character will look in human form. As many guessed he would (it is Kurt Russell playing him, after all), Ego will indeed be sporting some fine face-fur as Star Lord's estranged father, and the costume seems to be pretty much identicle to the one that was on display at SDCC last year. Now that these are out there in the wild, there's a chance an official look at Russel in the role won't be far behind, so keep an eye on CBM for updates.
Tue, 17 Jan 2017 08:58 MSTDeadpool star Ryan Reynolds has shared the following pic to his Instagram page, which features Hugh Jackman, Pierce Brosnan and himself doing a "hear no evil, speak no evil, see no evil" pose. This suggests that the trio have met up to discuss something that they can't share with us yet, but what could that something be? Recent talk of Jackman and Reynolds joining forces for some kind of Deadpool/Logan team-up movie has led to speculation that the image could have something to so with that, while others seem to think this might mean Brosnan is in talks for the role of Cable in Deadpool 2, with Jackman's presence possibly confirming a Wolverine cameo. UPDATE: Jackman has since followed Reynolds' post up with his own photo of the three actors together. Again, all of this could be way off, but what do you guys think? Let us know in the comments below. Wolvie. Bond. Wade. A photo posted by Ryan Reynolds (@vancityreynolds) on Jan 17, 2017 at
Tue, 17 Jan 2017 06:35 MSTWe were told you expect something from the upcoming Injustice 2 video game today, and it turned out to be the incredible story trailer below. The trailer gives us a pretty good idea of what to expect from the game's plot, while also providing glimpses of some new characters such as Poison Ivy, Darkseid, Bane, and what appears to be Tim Drake/Robin. Plus, we get an exciting tease of a four-way scrap between Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman and Supergirl. Have a watch, and be sure to share your thoughts in the usual place. The Lines Have Been Redrawn. The line between hero and villain has become blurred as the most epic battle in the DC universe rages on in Injustice 2. While Batman has emerged the victor in his battle against the Regime, a new threat arises and poses the ultimate threat to Earth. Injustice 2 will release for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One beginning on the 19th of May 2017.
Tue, 17 Jan 2017 05:36 MSTWhile the Netflix and ABC branches of Marvel TV are definitively set in the world Marvel Cinematic Universe, the possibility of those characters appearing in the Marvel films has always been a dicey subject. While many point to the rift between Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige and Marvel CEO Ike Perlmutter as the main reason, both Feige and Head of Marvel TV Jeph Loeb have remained steadfast in their responses: it will happen if and when it feels natural and makes sense. For Daredevil star Vincent D'Onofrio, the answer is pretty cut and dry. The actor, who plays Wilson Fisk/the Kingpin, is a proud comic book fan and has expressed his excitement to appear in Marvel films many times, though he isn't hopeful to get the call. "I would love to switch over to the movies, but I think it's pretty much been said it's not going to happen," he said in an interview with Digital Spy. "Or at least not for a very,
Tue, 17 Jan 2017 03:15 MSTLast week's episode of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. saw Dr. Holden Radcliffe (John Hannah) attempt to steal the Darkhold via his LMD, AIDA. With that plan failing, Radcliffe has now opted for a more nuanced approach by using the duplicate he's created of Agent May (Ming-Na Wen). In a new clip from tonight's episode, "The Patriot", Radcliffe reveals that his LMD replica of May is a more advanced model than AIDA; it's completely unaware of its designation as an android, something that Radcliffe believes will help him coerce Agent Coulson into divulging the Darkhold's location. Check out the clip below! “COULSON DISCOVERS A SHOCKING TRUTH ABOUT DIRECTOR MACE, ON ABC’S ‘MARVEL’S AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D.’ “The Patriot” – Separated from their team, Coulson and Mack discover a shocking secret about Mace, leaving all of S.H.I.E.L.D. in a precarious position, on “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.,” TUESDAY, JANUARY 17 (10:00–11:00 p.m. EST), on the ABC Television Network.
Mon, 16 Jan 2017 19:43 MSTIGN recently sat down with Lauren Shuler Donner for a lengthy chat about Legion, and she confirmed in the interview that the upcoming FX series will not take place in the same world as the X-Men movies. There's been a lot of confusion about whether or not that would be the case, but it was also thought that they probably were linked, albeit with Legion standing apart from the big screen stories. Despite saying that the show will "touch on" David Haller's father (Professor Charles Xavier in the comic books), she added: "[We're] making it separate. We're our own world." Pushed for details on what that is when it was recently confirmed that Matt Nix's upcoming family drama is going to be set in the film universe, Donner dropped some intriguing details about what we should expect from that. "Matt's is much more a part of just the world in terms of there are mutants, mutants are hated and there are Sentinels --
