Thu, 08 Dec 2016 21:00 MSTThe first trailers for Spider-Man: Homecoming are finally here, and well, it's fair to say that they're amazing (pun most definitely intended). As well as providing plenty of shots of the wall-crawler in action, we get to see The Vulture swooping into battle as well, and it appears as if former Batman Michael Keaton is really going to deliver the goods when it comes to playing a truly despicable villain. Emphasising the fact that the reboot is set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is the fact that both Tony Stark and "The Avengers" (well, bank robbers dressed as them) show up, and things end with an amazing shot of Spidey and Iron Man travelling through New York together. The shorter international version meanwhile provides a first look at The Shocker, and in this scene at least, he has no costume. Well, his jacket has some yellow on it, but he's certainly not rocking the character's classic look! Regardless, it's fair to say that
Thu, 08 Dec 2016 20:30 MSTA new official still from The Dark Tower has found its way online, and it's a pretty damn cool one. The pic features Idris Elba's Roland Deschain burning a hole through Matthew McConaughey's evil Man in Black, AKA Walter O'Dim, AKA Randall Flagg, AKA... ah you get the idea - the dude's got a lot of names. The villain doesn't look particularly worried here, but he probably should be. We're not sure where the image originated, but we picked it up via BirthMoviesDeath. Hopefully this is a sign that promotion for the film is about to kick up a notch. Also starring Jackie Earle Haley, Fran Kranz, Kathryn Winnick, and Abby Lee (among others), The Dark Tower is currently set to be released on February 17th, 2017.
Thu, 08 Dec 2016 19:58 MSTLike you guys, I'm a massive fan of all things comic book, fantasy, and sci-fi (why else do you think I do this for a living?). When it comes to stocking up on awesome gear related to everything from Doctor Strange to Star Wars, I always go to SuperHeroStuff.com, and this month, the CBM team will once again be highlighting some cool items we've got our hands on from their awesome range of products. With Christmas now right around the corner, I thought it would be a good time to focus on the site's range of awesome holiday themed sweaters. Steve Rogers is by far my favourite member of The Avengers, and this sweater somehow manages to take the patriotic member of Earth's Mightiest Heroes and makes him festive! Throw in the awesome material and colour scheme, and it's a winner. Captain America Snowflakes Ugly Christmas Sweater Steve Rogers knows a thing or two about being cold and that's why he respects and covets the Captain American Snowflakes Men's
Thu, 08 Dec 2016 19:46 MSTRip Hunter was a pivotal part of Legends of Tomorrow's first season, so the fact he's been missing since the premiere has changed the show in a pretty big way. However, tonight's midseason finale provided some answers, but they probably weren't the ones any of us expected! After the Legion of Doom revealed that they need Hunter to get their hands on the Spear of Destiny, we were taken to 1967. There, a familiar trench coat wearing character could be seen running through the streets, but the action came to a halt when it was revealed that we were on a film set for a sci-fi movie being helmed by a very different looking - and sounding - Rip Hunter. That's right, he's somehow now a filmmaker! What led to this change isn't clear, but it's possible that the events of either the premiere or Flashpoint (maybe both) have led to him being left with no memory of who he is, hence why
Thu, 08 Dec 2016 18:33 MSTEarlier today, we got our first look at Richard E. Grant's sinister Logan villain, and now another new image has surfaced. This one doesn't hail from the movie's mysterious Instagram account and instead found its way online via JoBlo E-i-C Paul Shirey. As you can see, it features Wolverine next to the limo he's been driving facing off with a group of thugs who clearly fancy their chances against the mutant. Perhaps this fight is why the ageing hero is looking so beaten up in that incredible teaser trailer, but with so much postive buzz now surrounding this release, we have an awful lot to be excited about. Logan stars Hugh Jackman, Dafne Keen, Boyd Holbrook, Richard E. Grant, Stephen Merchant, and Patrick Stewart. It's currently set to be released on March 3rd, 2017, so stick to CBM for updates.
Thu, 08 Dec 2016 18:06 MSTThough we do tend to report on actors/actresses responding to fan suggestions that they should play certain characters, it's admittedly not really news, and more of a topic to promote discussion - however, when someone actively campaigns for a role it's a slightly different story. Ghostbusters star Leslie Jones has said that she'd love to play a superhero in the past, and it looks like she has her sights set on the upcoming Deadpool sequel. @VancityReynolds I want to be in deadpool. I could be smart mouth side kick. And my power would be loudness!! — Leslie Jones (@Lesdoggg) December 7, 2016 Jones is obviously joking about the character, but we think she'd make a fine addition to the cast. Sometimes these things do wind up panning out, so you never know! Deadpool 2 is targeting a January 2018 release date, with David Leitch replacing Tim Miller behind the camera. UPDATE: The official Deadpool Movie Twitter account just debuted this awesome holiday packaging Blu-ray art:
Thu, 08 Dec 2016 14:50 MSTThe DC Films Universe may be light on the jokes, but next February, DC's television side is going to bring the funny with Powerless, an all-new comedy series on NBC. Earlier today, the network announced that the Vanessa Hudgens-led series will make its long-awaited premiere on Thursday, February 2 at 8:30 p.m. ET. The series, which received a positive reception at San Diego Comic-Con in July, centers around Hudgens' character, Emily Locke, an insurance adjuster that specializes in helping those affected by damage caused by superheroes during their many escapades. In addition to the former High School Musical star, the series will also feature Danny Pudi, Alan Tudyk, Christina Kirk, and Ron Funches in series regular roles. So, what do you guys think? Will you be tuning in? Sound off with your thoughts below! Save the day! #Powerless is coming Thursday, February 2 at 8:30/7:30c on @NBC. pic.twitter.com/2oxyt4qyoK — Powerless (@NBCPowerless) December 8, 2016 In the first comedy series set in the universe of DC Comics, Vanessa Hudgens
Thu, 08 Dec 2016 14:48 MSTRuth Negga has been a TV star in her adopted homeland of Ireland (she was actually born in Ethiopia) for a few years now, but she only recently got her break in the US with roles in the likes of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and Preacher. Now, as she seems poised to take Hollywood by storm with a critically acclaimed turn in Jeff Nichols' Loving, the actress speaks to Vogue about her career in a new interview which you can check out here. Negga also reveals that it wasn't actually planned for her and long-term boyfriend Dominic Cooper to both land lead roles in Preacher, and only worked out that way because the latter was recording her audition and became interested in the script. “I had the script first. And he put me on tape for it, reading, and then he was like: ‘Hold on a minute; this is really good.’ I showed him the comic-book cover, and it’s basically his face.” Check out some of
Thu, 08 Dec 2016 14:15 MSTA few weeks ago, thanks to a new batch of movie toys, we caught a less-than-ideal first look at the Power Rangers' new Megazord, but earlier today, Saban & Lionsgate released a pretty sweet new poster (likely the first of five) revealing the Sabre-Toothed Tiger Dinozord. Just like the original television series, this zord will be piloted by Trini, the Yellow Ranger, who is played by Becky Gomez. The new one-sheet also offers a foggy look at the other four Dinozords, with the Tyrannosaurus & Pterodactyl zords being the most visible and the Triceratops & Mastodon zords bringing in the rear. Expect to see those posters later this week. Check out the poster below: Saban's Power Rangers follows five ordinary high school kids who must become something extraordinary when they learn that their small town of Angel Grove – and the world – is on the verge of being obliterated by an alien threat. Chosen by destiny, our heroes quickly discover that they are
Thu, 08 Dec 2016 13:01 MSTAfter the surprise success of Deadpool earlier this year, it's fair to say that the sequel is one of the most highly anticipated superhero movies coming our way over the next few years. While Fox has scheduled a number of upcoming Marvel adaptations, a specific date has not yet been given to the follow-up, but in a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Ryan Reynolds offered up an update of sorts. "We’re just in the development stage but we’re about to move into production," he revealed before confirming that they're currently casting Cable and are "looking at" adding fan-favourite Domino. After praising Deadpool director Tim Miller's hard work on the first movie, Reynolds went on to explain by John Wick's David Leitch was ultimately the right man to take over the job. "Everybody was just a fan of his work. He’s just a guy who’s so muscular with his action. He also really understands those Deadpool sensibilities and where we need to take the
Thu, 08 Dec 2016 12:21 MST20th Century Fox screened the first 40 minutes of Logan for attendees at a showcase event in New York this evening, and based on the reactions below, fans have every reason to be excited. We don't have a detailed breakdown of what was shown, but by all accounts this movie establishes its R-rating right from the off, and is apparently pretty brutal. Several people also mention X-23 (guess that confirms it) as a standout, and from the sounds of things she'll be right in the thick of it with Wolverine when the fighting starts. Check out the Tweets, and we'll update as soon as a more detailed description is available: #Fox screens first 40 minutes of #Logan. Fans are finally getting the bloody, primal Wolverine movie they always wanted. — The Playlist (@ThePlaylist) December 8, 2016 Okay, saw 40 minutes. Will have an overall write up later, but this is a much more violent, cool version of Wolverine #Logan @joblocom — Paul Shirey (@arcticninja) December 8, 2016 If
Thu, 08 Dec 2016 11:22 MSTThe first trailer for Spider-Man: Homecoming will run for only 1:41, a standard length for most teasers, but a running time which disappointed those of us hoping for a lengthier first look at the reboot. However, things just took a pretty amazing turn as Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige has told USA Today that two different version will debut tonight containing different footage and lines of dialogue. "The first trailers will be unveiled online Thursday night — one domestic (premiering on ABC's Jimmy Kimmel Live!) and one international," the site reports, "with a few different shots and lines of dialogue between them. 'Enough where I thought it would be fun for people to see both,' producer and Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige." That's a pretty interesting strategy, but a good way to ensure that comic book fans check out both and have plenty to talk about over the next few weeks. As of right now, we have no idea what these differences will
Thu, 08 Dec 2016 09:35 MSTEver since Norman Osborn forgot Spider-Man's secret identity as a result of Brand New Day, it's been a little hard to get invested in stories featuring the two characters. However, after plaguing Peter Parker while he was in charge of H.A.M.M.E.R. and then again when Doctor Octopus was the "Superior" Spider-Man, the now powerless - and sane - villain is back with revenge clearly now on his mind. "PARKER VS. OSBORN!!!" teases the synopsis for an upcoming trade. "In the end of Superior Spider-Man, Peter Parker cured Norman Osborn of the Goblin serum and insanity. But Peter didn’t realize that a sane Norman Osborn is more dangerous than ever. Can Spider-Man wield the full power of Parker Industries to take on Osborn’s military might?! The end of Parker Industries begins here!" Written by Dan Slott with artwork by Stuart Immonen, this arc should be pretty interesting, but it's not exactly as exciting as seeing the wall-crawler going head to head with the Green
Thu, 08 Dec 2016 09:26 MSTThough the fan-decided outcomes of the Super Power Beat Down battles can be very polarizing (to say the least), dare I say this outcome was the logical choice? Without giving anything away, check out the video below which features Wolverine and Wonder Woman going at it in an epic battle that sees only one walk away. Based on your comic book knowledge, do you think that's Logan or Diana? And as always, if you disagree with the outcome, be on the lookout for the alternate ending video which is typically released a few weeks later. [P.S. Thu, 08 Dec 2016 09:15 MSTThus far, Paramount Pictures has released five Transformers films – all of which have been directed by Michael Bay. Even though these movies haven’t been critically acclaimed (only averaging a 32% on Rotten Tomatoes), they have grossed a strong $3 billion overall at the box office. It was previously announced that after Transformers: The Last Knight makes its way into theaters next year, a Bumblebee spinoff will hit the big screen in 2018, followed by a sixth Transformers film that is currently scheduled for a 2019 release. After that, who knows what Paramount will throw on the table? During Collider's recent set visit, producer Lornezo di Bonaventura spoke on The Last Knight, and revealed whether or not that film will have connections to the planned spinoffs. “Sometimes is the answer. It’s not always, because I think then it feels like you’re really trying to widget it all together, and it becomes a little too neat.” He then added, “But I think – I don’t
Thu, 08 Dec 2016 09:09 MSTWhile we continue to wait with bated breath for our first look at Marvel and Sony's Spider-Man: Homecoming tonight, some new details on the film have arrived via USA Today. While action and excitment will no doubt compose a large part of the film, star Tom Holland sees Homecoming as less of an action film and "more a character piece about this kid who's struggling to talk to girls and also struggling to save the city." As evidenced in previous interviews, the film will kick off with Peter Parker returning to his normal life in Queens after his major battle in this summer's Captain America: Civil War, a secret the young Peter will struggle with. “He literally just went to Europe with the coolest clique of them all," said co-producer Eric Hauserman Carroll. “And now he’s back with the academic decathlon and the mathletes and going, ‘What am I doing here?’” Holland also confirmed that this film will be glossing over Spider-Man's tragic backstory in favor
Thu, 08 Dec 2016 08:49 MSTSuicide Squad was a very divisive movie, but most fans agree that it needed a little more Joker. If nothing else, that would have at least given us a better idea as to whether or not Jared Leto's take on the Clown Prince of Crime is one we could all get behind moving forward, but thanks to DC Films Universe photographer Clay Enos, we now have a new look at the movie's take on the iconic villain. This scene is one which was cut from the theatrical version of Suicide Squad, though Warner Bros. did add it to the Extended Cut. Sadly, it was still edited down from what we saw in set photos and videos, mostly because the studio wanted to make the relationship between the two characters less abusive. What do you guys think of this new look at The Joker and Harley Quinn? Let us know that below.
Thu, 08 Dec 2016 08:30 MSTTo call the concept art of Bill Hader's Alpha-5 horrifying would be an understatement, and while we've yet to see what Zordon looks like, another new image of Power Rangers' Rita Repulsa has found its way online today. As you can see, Elizabeth Banks is looking ready for action here, though some might argue that she pales in comparison to the version dreamed up for an earlier version of the movie. Another trailer for Power Rangers is expected to be released later this month, but we don't know exactly when. Power Rangers stars Dacre Montgomery (A Few Less Men) as Jason the Red Ranger, RJ Cyler (Me and Earl and the Dying Girl) as Billy the Blue Ranger, Naomi Scott (The 33) as Kimberly the Pink Ranger, Becky G (Empire) as Trini the Yellow Ranger, and Ludi Lin (Monster Hunt) as Zack the Black Ranger. Rounding out the cast are Elizabeth Banks as Rita Repulsa and Bryan Branston as Zordon. The movie is
Thu, 08 Dec 2016 07:50 MSTAttention Star Wars fans: Felicity Jones and Daisy Ridley are not the same person! In a special public service announcement made through MTV's After Hours with Josh Horowitz, the star of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story humorously aims to make it clear that despite their dark hair, British accents and roles in Star Wars films, her and Ridley (who plays protagonist Rey in The Force Awakens), in fact, different people. The actress also makes sure to - once again - debunk the unrelenting theory that her character, Jyn Erso, and Rey are somehow related. Check out the funny PSA below! Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is directed by Gareth Edwards and stars Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, Ben Mendelsohn, Donnie Yen, Mads Mikkelsen, Alan Tudyk, Riz Ahmed, with Jiang Wen and Forest Whitaker. Kathleen Kennedy, Allison Shearmur and Simon Emanuel are producing, with John Knoll and Jason McGatlin serving as executive producers. The movie opens in U.S. theaters on December 16, 2016.
Thu, 08 Dec 2016 07:45 MSTEver since X-Men: Apocalypse's after-credits scene showed an employee of the Essex Corp. collecting Wolverine's DNA samples, most of us have assumed that was a sign Mr. Sinister would be the big bad the ageing hero squares off with in Logan. Well, while it's very likely that he'll return somewhere down the line, the fact that the photo below was tagged with "Rice" confirms that Richard E. Grant is actually set to take on the role of Dr. Zander Rice, something which was only really a rumour before now. The surgical head of the project which created X-23, he was ultimately killed by the youngster. Interestingly, his father worked on the original Weapon X Project and was killed by an escaping Wolverine as he fled with a briefcase full of information about the project. That could very well be how Logan ends up tying into X-Men: Apocalypse, but what about Mr. Sinister? Well, we're now going to have to wait and see where
