London River by Rachid Bouchareb
Set against the backdrop of the 7th July 2005 bombings, London River tells the story of a friendship which develops between two seemingly unconnected people - Elizabeth (Brenda Bleythn) and Ousmane (Sotigui Kouyate). Both of them have come to London to search for their children who are missing in the aftermath of the bombings. Although they come from different religious backgrounds - Ousmane is an African Muslim living in France and Elizabeth is a white Christian living in Guernsey, they share the same hope of finding their children alive. Putting aside their cultural differences, they give each other the strength to continue the search and maintain their faith in humanity.

Read on for more… FACEBOOK GROUP STAGES INTERNATIONAL ‘BLACKOUTS’ TO PROTEST CANCELLATION OF FLASHFORWARD The ABC TV network has recently made the decision to cancel the TV show Flashforward. Get Him to the Greek
Get Him to the Greek reunites Jonah Hill and Russell Brand with Forgetting Sarah Marshall director Nicholas Stoller in the story of a record company executive with three days to drag an uncooperative rock legend to Hollywood for a comeback concert. The comedy is the latest film from producer Judd Apatow (The 40-Year-Old Virgin, Knocked Up, Funny People).

Rejected by Brit film makers: Pegg and Ramamurthy audition tapes discovered!
Simon Pegg (Hotfuzz, Run, Fat Boy, Run, Shaun of the Dead) and Sendhil Ramamurthy (Heroes), will be nursing their ego’s after their audition tapes were rejected by Brit film makers Twist Films. Auditioning for the star role of ‘Derecq Twist’, a West Country morris dancer, these two world famous celebs just don’t cut the mustard for [...]

Alice in Wonderland (2010)
Alice in Wonderland sees grown-up Alice once again down the rabbit hole after taking some time out from a ghastly marriage proposal enforced by some red-head prig with digestive problems (not sure what his name was). Jarring wonderfully with the rigours of real life she shrinks and grows her way through lush gardens meeting many of Lewis Carrol's creations including Tweedle-Dee and Tweedle Dum (Matt Lucas), the White Queen (Anne Hathaway), the Cheshire Cat (voiced by Stephen Fry), the Red Queen (Helena Bonham Carter), and the Mad Hatter (Johnny Depp). Stupid amounts of CG can be forgiven as it looks glorious and in places (mainly Depp-bits) rather touching. I heard mixed things before seeing it, but went on the strength of the 'rents saying how much they'd enjoyed it. 3D helped, I reckon, but for my money it was better than Avatar (awaiting a lynch mob).

Red Dead Redemption
Today I checked up on how Rockstar Games' first rural open-world adventure game "Red Dead Redemption" was going (well it's out May 21st!) and the graphics look spiffing. I was hoping for this sort of game, it's like "Gun" (which I really enjoyed) but from the looks of it way way bigger and more detailed, with miles and miles of open country.

Ashes to Ashes Series 3
Ashes to Ashes Series 3, Gene Hunt and Alex Drake tackle the 80s underworld one last time.

Doctor Who: Series 5 Preview – BBC One
On the 3rd April 2010 we'll see a brand new Doctor, brand new writer and a brand new logo (audible groans). I hope it'll be OK, like I hoped it'd still be OK when I first saw Tennant's manic grin and it was. Of course it helped that after coming out of a coma in his first full-length episode he quoted the Lion King and kicked an arse/skull-faced alien loon into oblivion.

The Deal (2003)
I was having a look at the new film in the so-called "Blair trilogy" comprising of The Deal, The Queen and The Special Relationship (2010), which'll hit cinemas sometime this year (yes, that was vague). Anyway, you can watch The Deal on Youtube, or easier still, by playing the parts below. Well worth a watch in my opinion, for me it's a bit of a history lesson in political events that quite went over my head because at the time I was too wee to care about that sort of thing.
