Pagan Military Woes and Wins: Eric Cooper Interview

Sat, 27 Feb 2016 23:21:32 +0000

Aloha & Happy Leap Year show!

In this show I interview Eric Cooper of Forest Moon Grove on his organisationʻs History, Mission, and Goals. We also take time to really delve into the many incidents of discrimination set against US military troops both deployed and stateside. We touch on the Wild Hunt reported tensions at the Fort Hood Open Circle and the Open Letter by Michelle Morris regarding the many incidents of harassment theyʻre facing.

If youʻre like me and unaware or uninformed about the terms, incidents, or individuals involved in this on-going problem, then youʻll really appreciate this information PACKED show.

Eric and Forest Moon Grove are very open and welcoming to those who want to be supportive towards troops and their needs, so feel free to contact him directly through the mentioned methods in the show!

Lady Bless,

Lamyka

2012 is pau. Let us all say goodbye!

Mon, 05 Nov 2012 11:02:21 +0000

Mahalo nui loa to those who contributed to this show and helped say goodbye to 2012. Some announcements as well, for example all music clips used will be announced in the audio and not written here anymore. Google/Bing is a beautiful thing that most would use anyway so I'm cutting down on any writing that is unnecessary. Check out the Facebook Fan Pages for more information and how much more we're going to start offering for Pagan Families!

August Pagan Women's Eps: Pagan Values in the Secular World

Tue, 04 Sep 2012 03:30:01 +0000

We've got a range of guests, some wonderful women coming in for the show. We had Star Foster of Patheos.com and Dee of PaganFM. This was a unique opportunity as Dee is a self-published author that's been on the show before (The Pagan in Recover: Twelve Steps from a Pagan Perspective), Star Foster works for a small faith company (Patheos.com), and I own and operate my own small business (Haumea Botanicals). Also just a quick warning there were some strange audio issues but nothing too garbled, just some weird echo and unmuted microphones, so sorry about the coughing/sneezing!

Please remember that right now we have our annual fundraiser going on! So please do check out our IndieGoGo page to donate and support the show--not to mention getting some great perks!

Lady Bless,
Lamyka

This month's main question topic:

How do/can our Pagan values help us succeed in the secular world? (What are practical examples of this?)

Follow-up question:

What expectations do we place on ourselves as Pagans?

July Pagan Women Eps.: Defining and Discussing Syncretism & Eclecticism

Wed, 01 Aug 2012 06:00:14 +0000

This month main hosts Lamyka, Star, and Cara were joined by Anne Hatzakis of GreekReconMommy to define and discuss Syncretism & Eclecticism with the Pagan community. Often times when these two terms have been discussed it usually denegrates to ranting against Eclecticism but I'm happy to say that this brought many fresh ideas and perspectives of the important implications. Also included in this episode is a early bird preview of a new product launching in time for Lammas/Lughnasadh on Mahealani Mahoe Hope 1 (August 1st)!

Fri, 06 Jul 2012 00:00:35 +0000

For June's Episode Cara, Star, and I (Lamyka) discussed the different non-fiction and fiction books that we read, are reading, and would like to read. We had a really great discussion that followed about these books and the importance of literature to us all. In the break I give a few important announcements so please be sure to tune in.

Fri, 01 Jun 2012 21:22:15 +0000

Lamyka & Star (of Patheos.com) go over 2 of the questions mentioned in March's list. We talk about Prayer books/materials and what are some beliefs that we have left behind. For those who would like to give their input just go over to our Pagan Women's Podcast Facebook FanPage and leave us a comment or question! Thank you to our sponsor Haumea Botanicals as well as a big Mahalo to Forest Moon Grove for whipping up a promo (on short notice!) about themselves.

March Pagan Women's Episode: Questions for the Coming Year!

Sat, 31 Mar 2012 18:42:51 +0000

Lamyka had a brilliant idea (or so she thought) for this month's episode. Me (Lamyka) and Star sit down to share some of the questions that we'll be discussing in the coming year for the show. After much reluctance, Star participated and it turned out to be a lot of fun. We hope you like some of the questions we bring up. If you'd like to share or have some of your own included then contact us directly or go to the Pagan Women's Facebook FanPage and post up yours! Hope everyone had a great March and Spring Equinox.

February Pagan Women's Eps: Learning New Goddesses!

Thu, 15 Mar 2012 07:47:56 +0000

Happily and also belatedly here is the February Pagan Women's Episode! Cara, Star, and I (Lamyka) have a very fun learning episode for ourselves and for each other. The main rule of this recording was to find 2 or 3 Goddesses that we knew nothing about or never knew before and to do a bit of research then share it with everyone. Some mentioned are completely new to all of us and some are new looks into Goddesses we thought we knew. Overall it was a fun episode to record and I hope all of you enjoy!

January Pagan Women's Eps: Hellenic Polytheism

Tue, 31 Jan 2012 10:45:57 +0000

This month Lamyka, Cara Schulz, and Star Foster sat down to talk about Hellenic Polytheism. Or I (Lamyka) should say, me and Star mostly hurlded question after question at Cara who is a Hellenic Polytheist. It was a great chance to talk about what exactly that means, down the the dailyand sometimes monthly practicalities and actions of devotees. Great fun had by all!

Onipa'a: To Be Steadfast

Tue, 31 Jan 2012 09:46:43 +0000

Happy New Year everyone! In this show I talk about being steadfast in our goals and different ways we can help ourselves to do so. Whether through mundane systems and tools like the "buddy system" or the "work for reward" system, or spiritual methods like prayer, we can all remain steadfast in our goals. My special thanks are given out to my friends for helping me and motivating me through their own actions to do the January show.

Thu, 15 Dec 2011 00:39:12 +0000

Many thanks to Rev. Crystal Blanton for taking time out of her very demanding schedule to sit down with me and talk about her books, her many years of counseling, her experiences, and more. In this episode we have a great discussion about what trends seem to be occuring in the growing Pagan Community. We also talk about certain problems that seem to plague it still. All in all a wonderful lady to sit down with and have a fun and provacative conversation!

October Pagan Women's Episode: To Honor Who Has Gone Before

Mon, 31 Oct 2011 11:27:02 +0000

Below is the re-print of the FB event. I want to seriously THANK those who participated. This affected me so much I don't even know how to vocalize how grateful I am to all of you, participants & Honorees!

This is a break from the normal discussion based style of Pagan Women's.

It's a series of separate recordings, the voices of Pagan women. The main gist is that each of us would say someone they are honoring who has passed, and why/how this person is important. This can be family, friends, people who touched your life but whom you never met, animals, plants, etc. Remember Honoring someone means honoring a being that deserves it--regardless of form or affiliation.

Each of us would say it as if they were speaking to the person's face, and we don't give our own names so as to focus on the content of what we're sharing. I (Lamyka) will write the base sentences and give a time limit, that way there is continuity in what is being said.

For those who are Pagan podcasters or those handy with recording they can record their own and get the mp3 to me (lamyka@gmail.com). Those who aren't too handy with recording can set a time with me on skype where I can record what you say.

==============================================

Below are the base sentences that all the recordings must have, also please keep the recordings between 5-10min.

"Thank you. Thank you, , you whom I Honor. I remember .

I hope to Honor you with my words of Remembrance as you Honored me with your presence in my life. "

**The above doesn't have to be entirely in english but if you do use multiple languages (I know I will) just make sure it's still understandable to those who only understand English. (ie: Thank you. Mahalo nui loa, , you whom I Honor...// Mahalo nui loa means thank you very much in Hawaiian but I said it right after the english phrase 'thank you' so the listener can probably infer that)**

Lamyka

Special Announcement: Fundraising

Fri, 23 Sep 2011 01:29:27 +0000

Aloha! This is a special and very important announcement. Lamyka needs your help. In the 6 years I have been a podcaster, I have worked hard to bring the Pagan Community such things as, Lamyka’s Wiccan Podcast, the Pagan Women’s Podcast, Pagan Bed Time Stories, the Proud Pagan Podcasters (the only Pagan podcasting organization in existence), as well as authored Pagan children’s books.

While we have all been hit by hard economic times, I need your help to keep all that I’ve worked hard for alive. If you enjoy my show, love my bed time stories, or support the organizations I run, please go to lamyka.libsyn.com or paganstories.libsyn.com and donate. I have placed a PayPal donate button on both of these sites. My Goal is to raise at least $500. With this money I will be able to keep all my podcasts online as well as begin a special charity effort through the Proud Pagan Podcasters.

In appreciation of all of my supporters I will be giving a free copy of my book Pagan Bed Time Stories: How Maui Slowed the Sun to everyone who donates $5 or more. For those who donate $10 or more you will receive a free copy of my book as well as a handwritten thank you note (please insert your address into the ‘Purpose’ bar on the paypal donate page).

Mahalo Nui Loa to you all! I hope this is not an end but instead a beginning with an even brighter future. Lady Bless & Blessed Be.

Mon, 19 Sep 2011 04:03:01 +0000

Come join me and my friends at the dinner table. This is a special holiday recording; everyone pulled up a chair and sat down to have dinner--literally--with each other and just talk story. Joining me on friday was Eric & Issy (and their little baby girl) of Forest Moon Grove, Star Foster of Patheos.com, Melissa a member of Forest Moon Grove, Dave of PCP, Rianna Stone of the Pagan Homesteader, & Cara Schulz of PNC-Minnesota. We had a blast, and even more fun with the technical difficulties. From my dinner table to yours, have a wonderful Witch's Thanksgiving!

Lots of new things shaking up here at Lamyka's Wiccan Podcast, so don't get left behind. August Pagan Women Eps: Pagan Schooling

Thu, 01 Sep 2011 06:48:22 +0000

Here's the Facebook Fan Page event information, though don't be fooled as I (Lamyka) & Star (of Patheos.com) went over a very interesting range of topics:

August is Lamyka's month, recording times are always EST. This month's focus will be on Pagan Schooling, set to coincide with the common beginning of the school year. We'll tackle questions regarding schooling of every type, ie. children, teens, adults, apprentices, and so on. Some of the main questions are listed below:

What does 'schooling' mean to you?

When should 'schooling' begin?

How have you structured your own learning endeavors?

How would you structure lessons for others?

July Pagan Women's Eps: Women & Work

Thu, 04 Aug 2011 09:46:21 +0000

Here is the information from the public FB event for the July Pagan Women's Eps. Don't forget to 'Like' us on our new FB Fan Page! Thank you to our main hosts Amber of the Pagan Centered Podcast, Star Foster of Patheos.com, and Lamyka of Lamyka's Wiccan Podcast.

"She works hard for the money so you better treat her right!"

July is Star's month so she better make the recording!

Women have always worked but women working outside the home in a professional capacity is relatively new. American women work long hours and are pressured to "have it all." How do Pagan women balance work and life?

There is no expectation that modern Pagan women be homemakers. Is there an expectation that we work outside the home?

Is there any stigma against being a homemaker in modern Paganism?

Americans work long hours. How does this fit in with the Pagan concept of the balanced life?

Are there forms of work considered unsuitable for Pagan women?

Lora Craig-Gaddis's Adorable Elsie & Pooka

Sun, 31 Jul 2011 09:39:22 +0000

If you've ever tried to find materials for Pagan kids it can be a challenge. 6 or 7 years ago there was next to nothing out there for Pagan kids at all. Lora Craig-Gaddis has been one of those unsung pioneers and heros providing material that most of the Pagan Community has already unwittingly been using. Ever seen that adorable color-in-yourself "Blessed Be This Kitchen" image? That's one of Lora's. Her creations Elsie & Pooka (with matching free magazine) have been her 8+ year contribution to the very small but wholely important Pagan kids' materials. Fri, 22 Jul 2011 07:13:00 +0000

Did you ever sit there and wonder if Pagan music was always going to be about folk or some sort of rock? If the thought of that sends shivers down your spine then fear not! Kellee Maize, hard working Pagan rapper, is here. Although that's really a misnomer. Kellee is an artist who does't relegate herself to one genre or another; her music mixes languages, styles, and content. She's my kind of artist. Go and enjoy her music videos as well!

June Pagan Women's Eps: Body Image

Fri, 01 Jul 2011 09:43:51 +0000

June was Amber's month and she chose Body Image as the topic. We were joined by Dee of PaganFM, Me (Lamyka), Rianna of The Pagan Homesteader, & Sorcha of Wicked Podcast. Dee was a last minute addition so her audio is a bit scratchy in some places but not enough to want to stab yourself in the face. Below is a reprint from the FB Event, so don't forget that every month a public event is created on FB which you can sign up for:

As the summer season hits, women are flooded with skinny girls in bikini's and told to "shape up for summer"

As women, we have tons of different messages from several different sources. We're told to treat our bodies as temples, love them as they are, starve them into beauty, be curvy, be skinny, eat what you crave, diet, exercise as much as you can, don't look too manly, make sure you wear the right color make up this year...

With all these conflicting messages, how do we, as Pagan Women cope?

Do we feel that the media images and photoshopped models are too much? Or a necessary evil?

Do we feel that there is, in fact, and ideal body shape for us to work towards?

Does a Barbie body equal healthy?

As far as diet's go, is there a healthy diet that is good for everyone? Or what constitutes a healthy diet?

What about vitamin supplements and weight loss pills?

What are your biggest hurdles in trying to eat healthy?

How do we view exercise and do we get enough of it?

How does body image and body health effect our lives as pagans? Rituals, community, ect...

Often, pagan women are stereotyped as overweight women in tye-dye...is this stereotype accurate? Why has this come about and should we try to change it?

How do we think body image is changing through the future generations?

Lamyka

David Carron & Asatru

Sat, 25 Jun 2011 21:44:37 +0000

In the beginning of June, I was joined by David Carron of Ravencast, an Asatru podcast, to discuss Asatru's role in the Greater Pagan Community as well as how his faith affects his life.  This was one of my favorite interviews to do recently as it gave a wonderful insight into the diversified nature of the Pagan Community. My thanks to David Carron for coming on the show and sharing with all of us.

Tue, 14 Jun 2011 00:10:30 +0000

I was fortunate enough to have Oraia Sphinx of Media Astra ac Terra & The Scrying Bowl stop by for a lovely interview. We talked about her show, how she creates them, how she began on the path to this show, and so much more. I actually don't want to put too much information in the episode description as the mystery of what was said is worth hearing for oneself.

May Pagan Women's Eps: Pagan Men

Sat, 04 Jun 2011 07:43:10 +0000

May's Pagan Women Eps featured, Amber of PCP, Cara Schulz of PNC-Minnesota, Dee of PaganFM, and myself (Lamyka). Below is a re-print of the content front the FB Event (which are always public) for this recording:

May's topic was chosen by Lamyka (me). With Beltane/Spring Rights coming to pass it's become obvious that this is a very VERY important time of year. Jobs have just begun, schools have started, crops are being sown, and organizations are ramping up fundraising.

We see all around us the power of fertility and growth whether it's tangible crops or intangible ideas springing forth. None of this is done alone, Gods, people, etc. all work in tandem.

How do Pagan women and Pagan men work together?

Do we work together well?

If yes/no, then why?

What are some of the shortcomings on the different sides?

What are some solutions for any shortcomings?

How can Pagan women better facilitate the strength of mind, body, and spirit of Pagan men?

How can Pagan men better facilitate the strength of mind, body, and spirit of Pagan women?

Galina Krasskova & Ancestor Aloha

Sat, 21 May 2011 10:01:17 +0000

This week's show features author and Heathen Priest, Galina Krasskova. Shunned for her strong (some might say militant) views but respected by many for ferocity of spirit and discipline, Galina caught my eye when she commented on some of Star's posts. In this show I give Galina and those who would peg her as hostile an opportunity to hear qualified & quantified answers as to her viewpoint. I bring up how she has sparked discussion in my own family with her very similar stance to Native Hawaiians. I've also added something special to the show that I hope to continue: 'Olelo No'eau, Hawaiian adages & sayings. They will be randomly selected, so take it as something new to learn. This week's 'olelo no'eau has 30sec background music from "Kawika" by The Cazimero Brothers.

April Pagan Women's Eps: Porn & Sex

Fri, 29 Apr 2011 00:27:42 +0000

This month is Star's turn, her topic was Porn & Sex.  It was a lean crew as there's lots going on for all of us, so this month we had regular hosts Lamyka and Star with guest Rianna Stone a.k.a. The Pagan Homesteader.  Below is a reprint of the FB event that Star put up, with a special notice to first timers:

Sexuality in Paganism tends to be more open and accepting. So how do Pagan women feel about pornography? Sexual orientation? Polyamory?

Are Pagan women more promiscuous? More reserved sexually? What constitutes healthy expressions of sexuality? How do they feel about censorship? Double standards for men and women?

If you are a first timer to the show you can listen and comments in a chat window but you won't be given voice to speak unless you've been vouched for.

Forest Moon Grove Revisited

Tue, 19 Apr 2011 00:51:36 +0000

I was joined last Sunday by Issy and Eric Cooper of Forest Moon Grove to catch up and talk about their organization and all the amazing changes on their plate.  For my listener's this will be the second time for Eric & Issy to be on the show (and a 3rd for Eric!) to talk about Forest Moon Grove.  I've had my eye on this organization since it's first efforts way back in 2005 and I'm proud to see it still going, and going strong!  If you're wondering about the delay, it's because me and my family have been burning the candle at both ends to get our home's renovations done for my grandparents arrival.  Also on a side note for those of you who prayed for my cat Duckie, I thank you!  He's much better now and still being a little Mama's Boy.  Enjoy!

March Pagan Women's Episode: Group Events

Fri, 01 Apr 2011 09:49:53 +0000

This month's topic comes from Amber of PCP.  There are plenty of events for pagans to attend, from holiday celebrations to PSG to pagan pride days to powwows and more. But what do these group events mean to us personally and to the community to which we belong?  These and more questions are discussed.  I, Lamyka, was unable to attend this month's recording but I'm glad to say we had our regular panel members on: Star Foster of Patheos.com, Cara Schulz of PNC-Minnesota, & Sam.

PSA: The audio is quite quiet in some spots, and for the same reason that I couldn't attend, I didn't have much time to go back and fix it.  Please do forgive!

Open Hearth Foundation: DC Pagan Community Center

Wed, 16 Mar 2011 07:21:36 +0000

Today's show I get to sit down with Iris, a governor on the board for the Open Hearth Foundation, about this forthcoming community center.  She kindly answers my questions about the intent and direction of this 10 year old project.  For her and Pagans in the area this a local community center, but considering it's location in Washington D.C. it's bound to become a focus as it sits at the seat of the US capitol.  Also, this interview was done via phone so you'll notice there's a lag between answers.  Enjoy!

February Pagan Women's Episode: Inspiration + Comedy Bits

Fri, 04 Mar 2011 00:10:47 +0000

This episode truly was a struggle for all of us.  With all that's going on within the Pagan Community we wanted to take a step back and look at something a bit more positive, only problem was the main hosts, Amber, Star, and even myself were under the weather while recording this.  A friends of ours, Sam & Cara of PNC-Minnesota, also joined us to talk about this topic.  Towards the end of it we were too tired and sick--not to mention Skype problems--to stay on topic and decided to just tell Pagan Jokes.  I hope you enjoy and don't forget to check out the FB Fan Page as well as The PNC for more on the stories mentioned.

January Pagan Women's Episode: Authority & Leadership

Fri, 04 Feb 2011 22:44:16 +0000

Star guides the January show with her topic, discussing the various points of what authority and leadership is for Pagan women in our community.  As Star states in the beginning, women have more opportunities for leadership and to bear authority in Paganism than in many other religious traditions.  What have we learned about authority?  What challenged do women face in leadership positions?  How can we be better leaders?  And so many more questions.  Not to mention a fun section where we diverge from the seriousness and crack some jokes.

Pagan Women's December Episode

Thu, 30 Dec 2010 10:07:15 +0000

Sunday I had Amber of PCP, Star Foster of Patheos.com, & Kim Hedrick on this month's Pagan Women episode with Kim joining us a little late.  This month's topic came from Amber as we discussed our responsibilities to Pagan children and children in general.  This show goes over the challenging subject of what is our responsibility towards Pagan minors.  These are children who may or may not be in a Pagan home.

We ask ourselves where is that important boundary that tells us where we can/should lend a hand and where we're crossing the line.  This topic is so loaded that it's a whopping 2 HOUR show going over this complex topic and letting it take us to even more questions for ourselves.

The Awesome of You

Wed, 20 Jan 2010 07:11:00 +0000

This show takes a different look at Resolutions, specifically looking at the Awesomeness of You!  And NO, not in that pyramid scheme self-help sort of way.  This week's show focuses on honest praise and appraisal and the focal points to a more integrated mundane, spiritual, and magickal life.  This week's Assignment can be mailed directly to me, if you so choose to share!

Study for Life

Tue, 08 Dec 2009 06:07:00 +0000

This show takes a look at lifelong techniques for study in and out of Circle.  I suggest some good techniques for retention not just related to Metaphysics but also to mundane products in our own homes.  Included is a recipe for an exfoliating scrub that anyone can make.  So, grab your pens and paper and tell me how this works out for you!  Mind you to remember that you *MUST* take into account any allergies or possible reactions you might have beforehand.

This week's show features a Liqeuer Cake recipe as well as a new Story.  The topic of the episode asks questions to my listeners about whether or not we live our lives in sync with the Universe.  I also talk about how it's important to recognize and study the signs in our own lives just as much as any magickal or divination art.  Local/Global is also included with a song by Wendy Rule.  Don't forget to join the Facebook group or follow me on Twitter!

Devotion

Mon, 16 Nov 2009 04:36:00 +0000

Focusing on what devotion means and how to go about it, is this week's show.  Also since I've gone weekly it means that I've changed up the structure of the show.  I will be introducing new segments such as The Wandering Pagan, Local/Global, Recipes, & Storytime.  Hopefully each week will include all of these but it depends on how much time I have for recording and post production.  If there's any questions or topic suggestions just email me: lamyka@hotmail.com

Not to mention a few announcements in the beginning of the show for all my listeners. Today's show includes "Lady" on the album Enchantress by Gypsy. Please feel free to check out her music, all my listeners know I like her style! The Main topic of this episode is Dreams and Dreaming. I discuss the differences between Prophetic Dreams as well as normal dreams. I don't bother delving into the Jung of it all however I do give some practical advice on keeping a record of your dreams and their meanings. I hope everyone has a great Mother's Day, and remembers to Honor The Goddess on this special day as well!

May Day is Lei Day! teehee...

Mon, 01 May 2006 04:33:00 +0000

Happy Beltaine everyone!! I hope everyone's enjoying this festive & colorful celebration of the "climax" of spring (^o~) Innuendos aside, this is one of the more distant sabbaths to my heart and yet the closest. May Day is Lei Day in Hawaii and a fun event all on it's own. I feature music from Emerald Rose with the track "Merry May Folk", and YES, I have been waiting all year to play that dang song! Gods know I love listening to it even out of season. I talk a little bit about what role Beltaine has for Pagans who aren't from a "seasons" country as well as identifying with what rings true for you. Either way have a fun and safe Beltaine. Also don't forget to check out the PPP roundtable discussion on Beltaine available on Shadowdance Podcast.
