David Aldridge | Eagles' only missing ingredient is Moss
If the Eagles are as close to a return to their NFC East-leading perch as they claim their finish made them, if things are looking up because they beat the Cowboys and Saints and Bills after the playoffs shimmered and evaporated from view, then there is only one off-season move needed.

THE BUZZ | Pity the poor Timberwolves' coach Wittman
Randy Wittman is who Maurice Cheeks might have been. Wittman is the head coach with the .143 winning percentage, the shell-shocked team full of youngsters and the prospect of help in some distant year, from some kid who's probably in 11th grade right now.

David Aldridge | McNabb is good, and he's not Vick
Once again, we are reminded of how lucky this city is to have Donovan McNabb. Bread and Circuses a.k.a. NFL '07, opens its training camps throughout the country this week, with the Eagles making their annual sojourn to Lehigh beginning Friday. And a week from the following Monday or Tuesday, we'll probably hear the annual State of Donovan Address.

On the NBA | A haven for hardwood dreams
LAS VEGAS - This is where you can fall in love: at the burlesque show, at the craps table, and at the NBA summer league.

David Aldridge | Suddenly, forward is a rich position
LAS VEGAS - Andre Iguodala is a very happy man this morning. So is Luol Deng. And Shawn Marion. And so is any other small forward in the NBA with any kind of game and a new contract on the horizon.

On the NBA | Next summer, Sixers may spring into action
You are forgiven if you don't see light at the end of the 76ers' tunnel. Their draft has potential, which may pay off in time but usually gets incumbent coaches fired. Nor are they in any position to go after meaningful free agents.

On the NBA | A little unrest after draft night
The craziest confluence of existing and future franchise-level NBA talent met this past week, with Greg Oden and Kevin Durant coming, Ray Allen going and Kevin Garnett staying put - for now. At the end of the day, the Western Conference got stronger and taller, and the East got quicker and shorter.

David Aldridge | King needs a big swish on draft shot
A week before the most important night of his professional life, Billy King continued to profess certainty, equanimity and calm. This was either a good sign or an indication that we're all going over Niagara Falls with just a barrel and a medicated smile.

On the NBA | Africa gains attention around the league
With the NBA season over, players, coaches and administrators who aren't obsessed with the June 28 draft have scattered to the four winds. But a new breeze is sending many from around the league to Africa, a continent long neglected, for both humanitarian missions and an increasing emphasis on potential player development.

David Aldridge | Dynasty? Spurs deserve the label
CLEVELAND - One of Gregg Popovich's favorite phrases is "Get over yourself." As in, "You're not such hot stuff. Get over yourself."
