Christopher and Cynthia had left him nearly a year prior. He'd been abusive to Cynthia and she left him when he went after Christopher. They asked him to leave the hospital room and he waited in the waiting room. Christopher and Cynthia were taken into surgery. Unfortunately, after Cynthia's kidney was removed for donation, her remaining kidney thrombosed and died, meaning she had no functioning kidneys left. Because the kidney wasn't yet in Christopher's body, there was debate over whether it was legally his or still hers. They called around to other hospitals looking for any other potential donors. Ken, who was still in the waiting room, overheard and offered to be tested to see if he was a match. He was a match, but they were concerned about him donating, thinking it'd be a way for him to get back into their lives to abuse them again. Jo went in to talk to him before his surgery, saying that the only way to do it and make it about Chris and not himself was to donate anonymously and never tell them. When Chris and Cynthia woke up, there were told what happened and the doctors said that Chris's kidney came from an anonymous donor. ==Relationships== ===Romantic=== She is married to Ken Daniels. Tim Nolan is the father of Claire Nolan.

History
When Tim's daughter, Claire, was twenty, she disappeared from her home. Her mother said it looked like she'd been kidnapped. After several years of searching for her, they had a funeral for her.

Twelve years after her disappearance, Claire wandered into the Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital emergency room. She was confused and her words didn't make sense. When she went behind the nurses' station and picked up the phone, Nathan and Andrew tried to remove her, but she collapsed to the floor. She needed a pacemaker. He placed a temporary one and got Maggie to sign off as the second authorization for a permanent one since Claire couldn't consent to the surgery. In the surgery, they removed her old pacemaker with difficulty and placed a new one. The serial number from her old pacemaker helped them identify her and the hospital called her parents.

When her mother arrived, she was shocked to learn that Claire was alive, as they'd spent years thinking she was dead. Claire had a psychiatric evaluation, during which she was tentatively diagnosed with schizophrenia. She became agitated when her parents came into the room to see her. She had to be sedated and Dr. Sen started an increasing dose of haloperidol to stabilize her. He also offered to refer her family to long-term housing and support services to help them and Claire cope with the schizophrenia diagnosis.

Later, her parents came into her room again and after a few moments of confusion, she recognized them and said they could sit with her.

Relationships
Romantic
He was married to Gwen Nolan. They divorced due to the stress of their child, Claire, disappearing.

Familial
He and his ex-wife have a daughter, Claire, who disappeared as a teen. They believed she'd been kidnapped and were surprised she was alive when she was found several years later.
