Happy Easter !

Sun, 04 Apr 2010 06:58:00 PDT

Maayong Pasko sa pagkabanhaw kaninyong tanan. I missed the early mass and we called it "Sugat" or "salubong" in tagalog. This is about our faith regarding Jesus Christ resurrection on early Sunday morning. He was being greeted by the Blessed Virgin Mary, thus it called "Sugat".Pero ok lang kay nakasimba pa man sa buntag pagkahuman sa unang misa.Para kaninyong tanan, Happy Easter. [...]

Sabado de Gloria (Black Saturday)

Sat, 03 Apr 2010 09:57:00 PDT

Sabado de Gloria (Holy Saturday) is celebrated in the Philippines as the day before Easter in the Christian calendar. We, Filipinos often call it Black Saturday or Sábado de Gloria. It is the seventh and last day of Holy Week, and part of the second day of the Easter Triduum. Holy Saturday is also often incorrectly called Easter Saturday, a term that properly refers to the following Saturday. In Roman Catholic Churches, the altar is either stripped completely bare or coloured in violet, while the administration of the sacraments is severely limited. Holy Communion is given only as Viaticum. All Masses are strictly prohibited. No Mass at all appears in the liturgy for this day, nor for the preceding day, Good Friday.Liturgically speaking, Holy Saturday lasts until dusk, after which the Easter Vigil is celebrated, marking the official start of the Easter season. In the pre-1970 Roman Catholic observance, during the "Gloria in Excelsis" of the Mass (which is the first Mass since that of Holy Thursday), the church statues, which are covered with purple veils during Passiontide, are dramatically unveiled.Great Lent was originally the period of catechesis for new converts in order to prepare them for baptism and chrismated on Easter. Prior to the composition of the current Paschal Vigil by St. John of Damascus this day's vesperal Liturgy was the main Easter celebration, and the traditional time to receive converts is still immediately prior.source: wikipedia [...]

Biernes Santo (Good Friday)

Fri, 02 Apr 2010 09:55:00 PDT

The most important events in Christianity are the death and later resurrection of Jesus Christ, the Jewish prophet who Christians believe is the Son of God, and whose life and teachings are the foundation of Christianity.Good Friday is the Friday before Easter. It commemorates the execution of Jesus by crucifixion.Good Friday is a day of mourning in church. During special Good Friday services Christians meditate on Jesus' suffering and death on the cross, and what this means for their faith. In some countries, there are special Good Friday processions, or re-enactments of the Crucifixion. The main service on Good Friday takes place between midday and 3pm. In many churches it takes the form of a meditation based on the seven last words of Jesus on the cross, with hymns, prayers, and short sermons. The last words of Jesus Christ from the cross:The Bible quotes seven last sentences that Jesus spoke from the Cross.Father, forgive them; for they do not know what they are doing. -Luke 23:34Truly I tell you, today you will be with me in paradise. -Luke 23:43Woman, here is your son... Here is your mother -John 19:26Eloi, Eloi, lema sabachthani?(My God, My God, why have you forsaken me?) -Mark 15:34I am thirsty -John 19:28It is finished -John 19:30Father, into your hands I commend my spirit -Luke 23:46 [...]

Huwebes Santo (Holy Thursday)

Thu, 01 Apr 2010 09:55:36 PDT

In the Christian calendar, Holy Thursday - also called Maundy Thursday and, in the Eastern and Oriental Orthodox Churches, Great Thursday is the feast or holy day on the Thursday before Easter that commemorates the Last Supper of Jesus Christ with the Apostles. It is followed by Good Friday. On this day four events are commemorated: the washing of the Disciples' feet by Jesus Christ, the institution of the Mystery of the Holy Eucharist at the Last Supper, the agony of Christ in the Garden of Gethsemane, and the betrayal of Christ by Judas. The evening celebration of these events marks the beginning of what is called the Easter Triduum or Sacred Triduum. The Latin word "triduum" means a three-day period, and the triduum in question is that of the three days from the death to the resurrection of Jesus. In the time of Jesus, and still today in some cultures, such as the Jewish, the (24-hour) day was reckoned not from midnight, but from sunset. The Last Supper was held at what present-day Western civilization considers to be the evening of Holy Thursday but what was then considered to be the first hours of Friday. Its annual commemoration thus begins the three-day period or triduum of Good Friday, Holy Saturday and Easter Sunday, days of special devotion that celebrate as a single action the death and resurrection of Christ, the central events of Christianity.source: BBC [...]

Happy Valentines!

Sat, 13 Feb 2010 14:21:30 PST

I attended the cheering crowd in Plaza Divisoria in Cagayan de Oro City to support Tibo, one of the Pinoy Big Brother Double-Up Big 5. There were so many people attended and hosted by Cas Ponti, ex-PBB housemate. They are giving away textvotes to everyone but you have to vote for Tibo. I'm an avid fan of Melai but Tibo is not my bet. I voted for Melai instead (balimbing gyod no...hheheeh).Anyway, Tibo got the 5th place and Melai won. People got disappointed but accepted the loss. It is just a game anyway. Tibo will have a bright future in showbiz if he has the talent.Tomorrow will be Valentines Day. I'm missing my love ones and I wish to be with them someday. I think it will not be long from now. [...]

Mon, 05 Oct 2009 17:54:54 PDT

The flooding in Manila and nearby provinces is a history that cannot be forgotten. Grabe ang epekto nito, climate change talaga ang nangyari kaya tayo ay mag-isip isip sa mga basura na itatapon natin.Nakakaawa talaga ang nangyaring ito sa Manila. The homeless and evacuees are the most affected. Sa dami ba naman ng tubig na bumaha sa Manila, it will take time to dry out.Lessons to learn. Never throw your rubbish in the rivers and creeks. Keep our environment clean and love our nature. [...]

Willie Is A Robinhood

Sat, 01 Aug 2009 11:01:00 PDT

Willie Revillame announced on Friday on his hit noontime show "Wowowee" that he received P2 million in cold cash allegedly from an anonymous donor. Revillame said the cash was placed in 3 brown envelopes and delivered to his house on Thursday, July 30. "Ito, binuksan ko kagabi, tatlong sobre at ang laman nito ay puro pera. Ito ay totoong pera at nakalagay sa envelope ay 'urgent.' Ang laman ng isang envelope ay P500,000, 'yong isa P750,000 at ang isa ay P750,000 din, a total of P2 million," he said. The host, who reportedly earns P1 million a day, said he "does not need the money." Thus, after consulting his lawyer, he decided to give away the money to charity. Revillame thanked the person who gave the P2 million cash because it enabled him to help those in need. "Hindi po ako naghahangad ng malaking pera. Ang hangad ko po ay maraming tao ang matulungan at mapasaya," he said. [...]

What A Mess

Wed, 15 Jul 2009 05:02:09 PDT

I don't know why people doesn't know how to dispose their waste properly. They just dumped it in the streets or anywhere which is wrong.Ang kawawa, tayong mamamayan. Tayong nagdurusa at magkasakit pa tayo nito. Mas lalo na yong mga kabataan.Let us just hope that the government will do something about it. I can't say anything but let us help our environment. We can do something by disposing our garbage properly. It can cause pollution and threat to our health. Why we should risk ourselves that eventually, we can do it. It is very simple but for others, it is hard to do. [...]

Michael Jacson Dies

Fri, 26 Jun 2009 12:17:10 PDT

MANILA - Philippine officials and politicians on Friday joined prisoners in mourning the death of Michael Jackson, described by the government as an imperfect pop icon."We join the world in mourning the death of a music icon," President Gloria Arroyo's cabinet secretary Silvestre Bello said in a statement issued by the presidential palace. The megastar, 50, who apparently died of cardiac arrest at his rented home in the US city of Los Angeles, "revolutionized music and touched the lives of so many people, and while he was not perfect, he definitely contributed immensely to the music industry," Bello added.House Speaker Prospero Nograles said Jackson's legions of fans around the world will miss the pop icon and his music."We extend our love and sympathy to the family of Michael Jackson and join his fans and supporters in praying for his eternal repose. He will always be remembered for his contributions and legacy," he said in a statement.Jackson drew an estimated 50,000 people in his one and only concert in Manila in December 1996, when he had to perform on reclaimed land on Manila Bay after the city mayor refused to give a permit on grounds of allegations of child abuse against the star.Joey Marquez, a former local film star who was at the time the top executive of the southern Manila district that eventually hosted the concert, told local television he now regretted having refused Jackson's offer to give his host his famous sequined hat."I should have accepted it," Marquez said. Some local celebrities such as TV host Jojo Alejar shed tears on nationwide TV as he shared his admiration for the late King of Pop. "I guess pretty much yun talaga, ganun kalaki yung influence niya sa aking career," he said before imitating some of Jackson's patented dance moves.Singer Gary Valenciano, who has been dubbed the "Michael Jackson" of the Philippines, said he started crying as soon as he heard the news while on a plane to Beijing."In some ways it's like part of me has died too. He was an inspiration to me. I still wonder if he ever read the letter I wrote him when he performed here. It was the least I could do for all the years that he inspired me," he said in a statement.Another singer, Zsa Zsa Padilla, said she had a feeling that Jackson "would die young" and said she was lucky that she was able to see him perform in his one and only concert in Manila.Meanwhile, Filipino prisoners who spawned a worldwide Internet hit with their version of Jackson's "Thriller" video are to recreate their dance in tribute to the dead star, television reported Friday. The performance will be held Saturday inside the provincial jail in Cebu, said Cebu Provincial Detention and Rehabilitation Center officials."Thriller", a global hit on the Internet video site YouTube, shows 1,400 inmates wearing saffron prison uniforms performing their own version of one of Jackson's most enduring hits.Cebu prison officials, who could not be reached by telephone from Manila on Friday, introduced dances as a way of improving physical fitness and to relieve stress among inmates. The four-minute video of the original prison dance has so far generated more than 23 million hits on YouTube. In Manila, street entrepreneurs rushed out to market cotton T-shirts emblazoned with Michael Jackson's face and the words "Thank You for the Music", AFP photographers saw.Local radio stations played Michael Jackson tunes while Filipino bloggers paid tribute to the star."I just feel sad that my hazy childhood memories are so imprin[...]
