This has to be a hoax. The NY Post would've been all over this story.

Perhaps you right because I haven't head anything from the "conservative" media who love to jump on anything that concerns black youth, and bad public behavior.
I am surprised that this Braunstein fella hasn't spun the whole white liberal "irony" spin on his shirts.
He's naively serious about his allegations.

@ Aquarianbrass

That's the underlying theme of this post, and thus the point of the Grand Hu$tle. No actual assault, nor the name of the person who was assaulted are presented.

I don't by any means condone beating someone's behind and catching a case because you disagree with a t-shirt. That's just silly. But I doubt anything of the sort actually did happen.

I'm pretty much thinking this is an elaborate hoax to bring attention to those t-shirts. Till I get more info, I'm sticking with that angle.

2008-07-22T13:14:00.000-04:00

Why are we not talking bout another group of black kids showing their a@@ in public. F@ck the girl in the t-shirt, that doesn't give you a right to attack and assault her. As far as I'm concerned thats the most serious offense. You have the right to say stupid things, but you don't have to right to commit felony assault.

2008-07-21T19:13:00.000-04:00

@cjames

Yeah, the statement was harsh. My point is that the first amendment is great, but it should be used responsibly.

I hate that I had to go there with the reference, but sometimes, that's tough love. I wouldn't need to do that at all if folks would keep their crappy ideas of T-Shirts to themselves.

It's not just the entitlement thing that bugs me, it's the fact that the designer is so dumb. Man, he really bugs me...I keep returning here to see his picture and be annoyed

I agree with MissJay. If you think you are bad wear the shirt and take the potential thrashing that comes with it like a champ.

2008-07-21T14:48:00.000-04:00

I think what this election is showing is the extreme ignorance of "smart" mostly-white people. This is yet another case of entitlement standing in the way of common sense. They just don't know they're being stupid. I fault the designer for tasteless and not knowing where the line is and the girl for even thinking that it was "ironic" or "witty" or whatever desirable hipster trait she thought it was.

She deserved her beatdown. I would've liked to be there to watch it, behind a bush so I wouldn't be called to testify.

2008-07-21T10:25:00.000-04:00

All of his customer's have now been warned. If you were that shirt in public, you risk getting a beat down, and rightly so. I am not offended by it, it's just pure ignorance. He might find his little boutique smashed up one morning, once the streets find out about this. People can be sensative about Obama, it's almost like talking about their mother.

Hmmm... I wonder what everyone thought about all the Bush=Nazi bumper sticker and other merchandise.

This is a grand hustle.

@EG Bro that was harsh statement(The Jews thing). I don't know if you should even use that as a reference. I get the point though.

Sadly this guy got the idea from somewhere. And someone else felt the same way by buying the shirt. Question is how many shirts did this guy sell?

2008-07-21T09:11:00.000-04:00

It's just insane, I keep looking at that shirt and it's just completely insane. What idiot buys it and wears it in public? And if the only thing that this Braun likes about Obama is that he is black and will open the door for other minorities then his racist slogans are very poorly chosen indeed.

2008-07-21T02:58:00.000-04:00

I'm with Anonymous on this one. This is yet again another foreigner, who just got off the boat, commenting on that which is US race relations.

I understand that art is supposed to push the envelope and challenge convetional wisdom, but damn, this guy Braun was wayyyyyyy off base. What buncha WASPs was he hanging around to get this idea!?!?

I guess there is a hustle in the mix because I fail to believe that Braun actually thought that shirt would fly in this country. Even if there is a hustle on the part of the shirt buyer, she's still a d-bag for wearing it and subjecting herself to getting her face run over by some sista-girls at the train stop.

This person does NOT have a valid lawsuit, at least from my perspective as far as the law is concerned. I think yours and deedee's counterargument's are enough to shut that $h%& up!

I wasn't overly offended, if barely perturbed by the Barack Obama monkey doll that looked like Curious George or even the guy at the Texas State Republican Convention with the buttons that read "If Obama Wins, will the White House still be called White?" (I actually thought it was a valid question), but this crap--hell yeah I'm offended. I'm not even offended by the words of the shirt, but I'm offended at the blatant arrogance of non-Anglo-Saxon whites bringing they behinds over here, receiving the same WHITE PRIVILEGE even though they talk worse English than the alleged Mexicans, and they GET AWAY WITH THIS CRAP!

If this country was so damn bad, then go back to where you came from! At least you had a choice in the matter--some of us weren't so lucky.

i hope there is a willing plaintiff out there who can challenge this punk's "enterprise" under first amendment law, namely brandenburg v. ohio, 395 U.S. 444 (1969), which states that speech that is intended to, or likely to incite violence is NOT constitutionally protected speech. i think any decent civil rights atty could successfully argue this.

2008-07-20T19:51:00.000-04:00

I'd like to know how the "Israeli-born Braun — born Doron Braunshtein" achieved this window into the feelings of "ordinary WASPS." Most "ordinary WASPS," such as myself, are concerned with getting by, not dreaming of enslaving a well-off Harvard Law school graduate and US Senator, as if such a thing were possible. Indeed, I would imagine that most "ordinary WASPS," and indeed, most US citizens, would look at the ugly gray T-shirt with the ugly message in the ugly typeface, with a **$70 price tag**, and want to make Mr. Braunshtein wish he had never left the United States's most ill chosen client state. (Oh, and Mr. Braunshtein, most "ordinary WASPS" don't like a significant portion of their tax dollars going to support the apartheid state of Israel, no matter what our government tells you).

2008-07-20T18:24:00.000-04:00

After reading the article, I think there is a market for "Jews Are My Firewood" shirts.

I just won't go below the bar and try to make or sell that shyte.

Quite honestly, I find it ironic that Obama haters want to use his name to make them money.

What's even better is that some customers will give in to their own hatred and pay top coin for that crap.

2008-07-20T08:05:00.000-04:00

Sounds fishy considering the dude getting sued ran to the tabloids with the story. Sounds like he's trying to do some cheap**s marketing.

But if it did happen she shouldn't get a dime, common sense should trump the 1st ammendment. If the shirt said, "Obama Sucks" I'd be on her side (and I'm a stan). Saying a black man is your slave? Yeah, its offensive and racist.

There is a bar here attached to one of those $30 a night motels which has a huge Mexican clientele. If I went in with a tee that said "Wetbacks Go Home" I would not be surprised if I got a good South-Of-The-Border-Ass-Whoppin'
