Its all about, "you know what I mean." Which is way worse than "you know", because it takes longer and is more noticeable.

I have the "seriously" Grey's Anatomy tick. I also say "totally" a lot. And "dude." My verbal ticks are apparently stuck mainly in the 90s.

Jill, I've never been a "you know" person--but went through it with "seriously" and "man" (yes, embarrassing as hell!) and various other awful things. And all like that. (close to Lauren's but not quite!) I started making little hash marks on my wrist and it made me very aware, but didn't stop me completely. I usually only stopped one word/phrase when I replaced it with something else. Seriously! Oh man! (And good luck!)

If it makes you feel any better, John Lennon had the same verbal tick. Yoko Ono still has it. Well okay, that might only make me feel better in such a situation :)

One of my friends ends every sentence with "and stuff like that," which is way more annoying than "you know." Just so you know. And stuff like that.
