Well, Janine was at the event and you can watch her reaction when she first sees the photos selected to appear in the calendar in the video below.

Sebastien Ogier proves us wrong; signs with M-Sport instead of Toyota Gazoo Racing for 217 WRC season

Back in November, we predicted that four-time World Rally Champion Sebastien Ogier, together with co-driver Julien Ingrassia, will go with Toyota Gazoo Racing for the 2017 WRC season following Volkswagen's departure from the sport. Well, Ogier has proven us wrong by signing with M-Sport instead.

Joining Ogier at M-Sport will be Ott Tanak who drove for the DMACK outfit this season. Although both drivers are new to the team, Tanak will have a slight advantage, having driven a similar Ford Fiesta used by M-Sport since 2011. Both drivers though will be on the same playing field if M-Sport will be using the all-new Ford Fiesta which is scheduled to go on sale sometime next year.

Ogier though has his work cut out for him since he only has 39 days to prepare for the start of the 2017 season with the Rallye Monte-Carlo which is scheduled on January 20.

"There will be a lot of new things this season, but I am definitely looking forward to it." said Ogier. "We have a new generation of world rally cars, and a new team--it's certainly an exciting time."

Understandably, M-Sport Managing Director Malcolm Wilson couldn't hide his elation with Ogier joining his team.

"We go to Rallye Monte-Carlo with the number one on the door of the Ford Fiesta WRC and the strongest driver line-up we have had in years," Wilson exclaimed. "To say we're excited about next season is an understatement. We believe that we have produced an exceptional car, and we are in the best possible position ahead of this exciting new era."

So, do you think Ogier made the right choice by joining M-Sport instead of Toyota Gazoo Racing?

Recently-crowned 2016 Formula 1 World Champion Nico Rosberg retires less than a week after winning the title

It hasn't been a week since Mercedes AMG Formula 1 driver Nico Rosberg was crowned as the 2016 World Champion at the season-ending Abu Dhabi Grand Prix yet the German has officially announced his retirement from the sport.Rosberg announced his retirement just before he was handed the Drivers' Championship Trophy in Vienna, Austria, saying that the title it has always been his "target.""And now I’ve made this feels right," Rosberg added."When I won the race in Suzuka, from the moment when the destiny of the title was in my own hands, the big pressure started and I began to think about ending my racing career if I became World Champion," revealed Rosberg. "On Sunday morning in Abu Dhabi, I knew that it could be my last race and that feeling cleared my head before the start. I wanted to enjoy every part of the experience, knowing it might be the last time… and then the lights went out and I had the most intense 55 laps of my life. I took my decision on Monday evening. After reflecting for a day, the first people I told were Vivian (Rosberg's wife) and Georg (Nolte, from Nico’s management team), followed by Toto (Wolff, Mercedes AMG Formula 1 chief)."Rosberg joined the Formula 1 circus in 2005 with the Williams F1 outfit as its test driver before he was elevated into a race seat a year later with the dismissal of Antonio Pizzonia. After four seasons with the team capped by a 7th place finish at the end of the 2009 season, Rosberg was drafted by the then-new Mercedes AMG team as its first driver, 55 years after the German carmaker left the sport at the end of the 1955 season.Despite being partnered with seven-time World Champion Michael Schumacher, Rosberg outclassed his more experienced teammate for the next three seasons. It was with Lewis Hamilton's entry into the team following Schumacher's departure after the 2012 season that things suddenly became tense between the the two drivers. Rivals in the junior formula series in their younger years, Rosberg and Hamilton were closely matched for the next three seasons from 2013 to 2015 though it was always the latter that came out on top at the end. For the 2016 season, although Hamilton won 10 races as opposed to Rosberg's nine, the latter only had one retirement compared to the former's two. Though Hamilton looked to finish the season on top with four successive first-place finishes, Rosberg only needed to complete the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix with a podium finish. And with Rosberg's second-place finish, the German took the crown by finishing the season five points ahead of Hamilton."This is a brave decision by Nico and testament to the strength of his character," Wolff said of Rosberg's retirement. "Since 2010, he has poured competitive energy into our team and we have grown stronger because of it. We simply say ‘thank you’ for the incredible contribution he has made to our success, alongside two of the all-time great drivers, Michael and Lewis."Rosberg has competed in a total of 206 Grands Prix and won 23 of them, placing him on equal footing with Nelson Piquet as 12th on the all-time list. He also has 30 pole positions in his name, putting him as 8th on the all-time list. On a more auspicous note for the German Formula 1 team, Rosberg is the first German driver to win a Formula 1 World Championship at the wheel of a Mercedes-Benz Silver Arrow. As the son of 1982 Formula 1 World Champion Keke Rosberg, Nico is the second son of a former world champion to win the title himself, following Damon Hill, son of two-time champ Graham Hill, in 1996.Congratulations, Nico, and good luck on whatever you plan to do next. allowfullscreen="" class="YOUTUBE-iframe-video" data-thumbnail-src="" frameborder="0" height="532" src="" width="640">[...]

The Nu Muses 2017 nude calendar with Janine Tugonon is on sale now, and it costs over $20,000!

I'll be honest, FHM Philippines' November 2016 issue was largely forgettable. Who were those two covergirls again? Well, it's a good thing that the publication is making up for this by featuring two-time covergirl and perennial crush ng bayan Ellen Adarna on the cover for the third time! And a double cover at that, much like her second appearance on the magazine's cover nearly five years ago in January 2012!

Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May can now guide you on Waze!

You read that right! Former Top Gear hosts Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond, and James May have lent their voices to the popular community-based traffic and navigation app Waze.

We're quite certain the addition of the trio's voices to Waze coincides with the debut of their new online motoring show The Grand Tour which debuted last November 18 and will be available for streaming weekly for the next 11 weeks on Amazon Prime.

While this would be the first time the trio would appear on a navigation app, Clarkson has previously lent his voice to GPS navigation equipment manufacturer TomTom for its Top Gear Edition car-based system in 2011. Unfortunately, after around 54,000 units with Clarkson's voice had already been shipped out to stores and went on sale, the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC), of which Clarkson was an employee of at that time, canceled the deal after it was discovered that it violated its editorial policy that prevents its hosts from endorsing "any product or service which could be covered in the programs on which they work." And since Top Gear is a motoring TV program which Clarkson hosted then...

We hope that Waze will make permanent the option of having the trio's voices as your guide since they could probably entertain you while you sit in traffic.

McLaren to make a new, limited edition three-seater hypercar--and it's already sold out!

Once upon a time, McLaren created a fairy tale of a supercar it called the McLaren F1, and one of its outstanding features was its three-seater design, with the driver sitting right in the middle while the two passengers sat just behind and to the left and right of the driver's seat. Well, the British carmaker has revealed that it is making the world's first "Hyper-GT" car and that it'll have a three-seat layout just like the legendary McLaren F1.

Codenamed BP23, which is short for Bespoke Project 2, the car will be produced by McLaren Special Operations with only 106 examples to be made--the same number of McLaren F1 units produced during its seven-year run from 1992 to 1999. And much like the F1, the BP23 will be customized to the owners specifications. The BP23 will also have dihedral doors like the F1 and all of McLaren's cars although for the first time, the ones on the car will be powered with apertures reportedly extending into the roof.

"BP23 will borrow the three seat layout with central driving position made famous by the iconic McLaren F1, and it will be housed in a streamlined, shrink-wrapped carbon-fiber body of great elegance," said McLaren Automotive Chief Executive Officer Mike Flewitt. "We are calling BP23 a 'Hyper-GT' because it's a car designed for longer journeys but with the high levels of performance and driver engagement expected of any McLaren.  A hybrid powertrain will make it one of the most powerful McLarens yet created but the car will also deliver the highest levels of refinement, enabling significant journeys to be undertaken with up to three people aboard."

BMW Films is back with "The Escape"

Back in September, BMW revealed that it was bringing back its The Hire series of short films this year to mark its 15th anniversary and that the latest one-off (so far, it seems) short will premiere on Sunday, October 23, 2016 at 6 p.m. Eastern Standard Time (Monday, October 24, 2016 at 6 a.m. Philippine time) on, we've seen the latest short called The Escape and it remains faithful to the formula, combing action and drama while highlighting BMW products; in this case, it's the all-new BMW 5-Series G30, specifically the 540i M Sport variant.Once again, Clive Owen reprises his role as The Driver and for this installment, he's been hired to ferry Lily, played by Dakota Fanning, who happens to be the the last living clone out of four that were created by Dr. Philips, played by Vera Farmiga, for a shady biogenetics company named Molecular Genetics or MolGen that has been cloning humans illegally. Accompanying Owen and Fanning is Jon Bernthal, who plays the head of a private security company hired by MolGen and is tasked with delivering Lily to an unidentified buyer. Although The Escape manages to echo the excitement of the first two seasons of The Hire series, it feels forced, uninspired even. For one thing, director Neill Blomkamp doesn't have the visual style of Tony Scott or Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu or the flair for dramatic action like John Woo, three directors who worked on the series' first two seasons. Perhaps if the third season had more than just one short film, the return run would feel more complete. As it is, it feels lacking. As for the car, the 540i M Sport looks and sounds good onscreen, you'd think it was the new M5 although the conservative front bumper gives it away as just a standard 5-Series.Anyway, check out The Escape below and see if you agree with me. allowfullscreen="" class="YOUTUBE-iframe-video" data-thumbnail-src="" frameborder="0" height="532" src="" width="640">[...]

All four SUVs were driven on uphill and downhill runs through straight and winding roads to test their power, handling, and safety features.Every part of the road course truly allowed the participants to experience every vehicle's dynamic driving performance, powerful engine, and effortless handling. The uphill and downhill drives demonstrated the Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA) and Hill Start Assist (HSA) capabilities of all four SUVs that prevented the vehicles from skidding sideways during cornering, and rolling back on inclines. The Honda HR-V 1.8 EL CVT proved its drivability and handling at every turn, conquering every curve and slope of Tagaytay Highlands, while providing comfort and space for its occupants. Its 1.8-liter powertrain portrayed powerful driving performance, producing a maximum power output of 141ps at 6,500 rpm and 172Nm of torque at 4,300 rpm. The All-New Pilot also features a new Intelligent Variable Torque Management (i-VTM4), an All Wheel Drive system with torque-vectoring function that provides torque across the rear axle to aid cornering. This helps deliver more dynamic handling that provides effortless, efficient, and dynamic all-weather performance. This function is paired with the New Intelligent Traction Management system that offers four different All Wheel Drive modes (normal, snow, mud, and sand). The highlight of the test drive was the recently launched All-New Honda BR-V, Honda's newest and the first-of-its kind seven-seater SUV in the country. Press Release: Be road-ready for the rainy days

With the streets of the metro once again turning into one big virtual swimming pool because of the weather, your car is your best friend to keep you safe and dry on the road. Wouldn't it be awful if your trusty car breaks down in the middle of a downpour? Don't let that happen to you! One of the best things you can do to keep your car from malfunctioning is to make sure it is ready to brave the weather by getting regular oil changes. But why is an oil change important? Well, imagine this: your car's engine is made up of many metal parts, all moving and working hard together to keep it running with the help of engine oil. This constant movement causes friction, which lessens the effectivity of your engine oil and can cause damage to your engine over time. Add severe weather conditions to the mix, and you've got an engine that will have to work extra hard to take you to places. This increases the risk of your car breaking down on the road, which can be extra troublesome during a heavy downpour.Don't be caught in this situation just because you put off getting an oil change. Make it a habit to get regular oil changes. With your busy schedule, it's best to take your car to a service center to get your oil change professionally done. The frequency of getting an oil change varies per vehicle, and service centers can give you advice on how often you need to bring your car back to be serviced.Have a go-to oil change center like Shell Helix Oil Change+ (SHOC+), where you can just sit back and relax at the air-conditioned lounge with free Wi-Fi while expert mechanics work on your vehicle. The professional and friendly mechanics at SHOC+ use only quality Shell lubricants in every oil change. SHOC+ has also partnered with the Don Bosco Technical Institute to conduct Modern Engines and Lubrication Services training for all their mechanics, giving your car only the best possible service. Finding the nearest SHOC+ center is also convenient, with over 200 locations at different Shell stations nationwide."We at Shell understand that motorists lead busy lives, so aside from our quality fuels and lubricants, we also offer expert car maintenance services at Shell Helix Oil Change+ to keep their vehicles running right. This is especially important during the rainy season, when motorist are more dependent on their vehicles," says Anthony Lawrence Yam, Pilipinas Shell's Vice President for Retail.By providing quality fuel products and services to motorists around the world, Shell gained its foothold as a global leader in power and energy that pioneers next generation technology in developing new energy sources, producing smarter products, building smarter infrastructure and providing energy efficient engineering solutions that ultimately promote cleaner energy, smarter mobility, energy efficiency and a new energy future to address the energy challenge. At Shell Helix Oil Change+, you get more than just an  oil change. Press Release: Honda’s September sales is second highest in its history

Honda Cars Philippines, Inc. (HCPI), Honda's automobile business unit in the Philippines, is pleased to announce that its overall sales in September of this year is the second highest ever recorded in HCPI's sales history with a total of 2,520 vehicles sold. The highest recorded sales achievement of HCPI was in March of the same year, with 2,663 vehicles sold. In the passenger car segment, Honda's September sales grew by 57% from its August sales. A total of 1,747 unitswere sold in September, a significant increase from 1,113 units sold in the previous month. Honda's biggest contributor in this segment is still the Honda City, with 847 units sold in September alone. To further elevate the ownership experience of customers, HCPI recently launched a Limited Edition variant of the Honda City--The New Honda City 1.5 E Limited Edition. The New City 1.5 E Limited Edition comes with exclusive Daytime Running Lights (DRL), Door Visors, Speed-sensing Auto Door Lock, Key Fob with Panic Button, as well as a Limited Edition emblem. Another significant contributor to Honda's sales in the passenger car segment is the All-New Honda Civic, with 602 units sold in September alone. HCPI is committed to bring in more units of the All-New Honda Civic in the future, especially with the market's increasingly favorable response since the 10th generation Civic's launch last April. 1,443 units of the All-New Honda Civic were already delivered to Honda's dealerships nationwide from June to September. It is now readily available for interested customers. Additionally, HCPI expects to reach more customers by launching three All-New Honda Civic Modulo variants--the All-New Civic 1.8 E CVT Modulo, the RS Turbo Modulo, and the RS Turbo Modulo Sport. All three Modulo variants flaunt an even more aggressive appeal through a seamless integration of a Front Under Spoiler, Side Under Spoiler, Rear Under Spoiler, Exhaust Pipe Finisher (1 pair for the RS Turbo Modulo and the RS Turbo Modulo Sport variants) and a Modulo emblem. The 1.8 E CVT Modulo variant gets an additional Deck Lid Spoiler, while the RS Turbo Modulo Sport variant receives 17-inch Matte Black Modulo Alloy Wheels. As for Honda vehicles in commercial segment--which includes the Mobilio, the HR-V, and the CR-V--sales grew by 48% from August to September. This segment also achieved a 70.5% growth in Year-To-Date (YTD) sales, owing to the 6,457 units sold from January to September 2016 compared to the 3,787 units sold in the same period of 2015. Moreover, the Mobilio still edges out its main competitor and remains to be the best-selling 1.5-liter MUV in the market with 3,889 units sold from January to September of 2016. Such sales achievements reflect the unabated appreciation by the market of the Mobilio's style, versatility, and practicality. HCPI believes that the Mobilio's sporty exterior, spacious cabin, and comfortable sedan-like ride will attract more customers looking for a high-quality but affordable MUV. Press Release: Hyundai PH sales leaps 50% in first nine months

Hyundai Asia Resources, Inc. (HARI), the official distributor of Hyundai vehicles in the country, kept its growth momentum as it remains as one of the automotive industry's high flyers. Hyundai closed its 2016 nine-month sales with a robust 50% growth, mainly attributed by both Passenger Car (PC) segment and Light Commercial Vehicles (PCV) segment. All in all, the company sold a total of 25,021 units by the end of September.

As the front runner of HARI's growth, the PC segment grew at a double-digit rate of 56% in the first nine months of the year. The Light Commercial Vehicles (LCV) segment, meanwhile, was not far from the spotlight as it pushed its nine-month sales to 37% from previous year.

Meanwhile, third quarter results showed 53% growth for the PC segment, while the LCV segment improved its sales by 23%.

Philippine GDP expanded by 7.0% for second quarter of 2016--the fastest quarterly expansion since the 7.9% GDP of the same period in 2013. Growth contributors include the consumer and infrastructure spending during the tail-end of the election period, as well as the buoyant business and consumer sentiment, adequate credit, and domestic liquidity.

Amidst the proposal to increase taxes on both fuel and automotive vehicles, a strong macroeconomic foundation, higher disposable income, and an upbeat rating in auto-buying intentions, has kept an opportunistic view for the demand of automotive vehicles. Hyundai's positive growth strengthens this sentiment and only validates the claim of 2016 being the year of the company's renascence.

"Nearing the close of 2016, a more favorable outlook is seen for the remainder of the year as Hyundai is likely to maintain its growth momentum, mirroring the vitality of the country's economy and its fast-growing automotive industry. With an endless potential, the company will continue to relentlessly satisfy its customers with its line-up of modern premium products and services," said HARI President and CEO Ma. Fe Perez-Agudo in a statement.

Petron is first to bring Euro V-quality fuel to the Philippine market

It hasn't been a year since Petron Corporation launched in the Philippine market its full range of locally-produced Euro IV-quality fuels yet the country's leading petroleum company has set another milestone by introducing the first Euro V-quality fuel in the Philippines nationwide--the Petron Blaze 100 Euro 5.

According to Petron, the Blaze 100 Euro 5 fuel contains less sulfur at 10ppm (parts per million) when compared to Euro 4 fuels at 50ppm. Therefore, it's 500% cleaner than standard Euro 4 fuels and has less benzene (less than 1% of volume) compared to the local standard which allows up to 2% by volume in gasoline.

As such, Petron claims the Blaze 100 Euro 5 offers the following benefits:
  • Optimal power and acceleration due to extremely high octane and performance additives;
  • Exceptional engine cleanliness because of its high quality base fuel and fully synthetic detergent additive;
  • Better fuel economy due to its friction modifier and combustion improver additives; and
  • Lower emissions and longer catalytic converter life.
Although the Blaze 100 Euro V is recommended for high-end, high-performance vehicles, Petron asserts that its formulation will improve the power and fuel economy of other vehicles as well.

"Petron is proud to introduce another revolutionary fuel specially formulated for Philippine driving conditions," said Petron President and CEO Ramon Ang in a statement. "With the highest octane rating but the lowest sulfur content, Petron Blaze 100 Euro 5 is the best gasoline in the market by far in terms of power, efficiency, and reduced emissions.

We will continue to innovate and lead in fuels technology so we can put more savings in our customers’ pockets while improving air quality across the nation," Ang added.

MMDA to extend "no window hours" to 8pm, to expand coverage to include 14 major thoroughfares by November 1

Effective yesterday, October 17, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) began to strictly implement its updates to the Unified Vehicular Volume Reduction Program, otherwise known as the number-coding scheme. Photo from Wikimedia CommonsFor the uninitiated, the number-coding scheme means your car is barred from the metro's streets from 7am to 7pm on a certain day of the week depending on the last digit of its license plate: 1 and 2 on Mondays; 3 and 4 on Tuesdays; 5 and 6 on Wednesdays; 7 and 8 on Thursdays; and 9 and 0 on Fridays. Up until recently though, the only time you could use your car while it's covered by the scheme are during the so-called "Window Hours" from 10am to 3pm save for the cities of Las Piñas and Makati which strictly enforces the 7am to 7pm ban with no exception, unless your family name is Binay, we guess.Anyway, the recently-implemented updates are comprised of two major developments. The first is that Mandaluyong City has joined Makati and Las Piñas in implementing a "No Window Hours" ban on cars covered by the number-coding scheme. The second is that the agency has removed the "Window Hours"on EDSA, C-5 Circumferential Road, Alabang-Zapote Road and Roxas Boulevard" which means if your car is covered by the number-coding scheme and you're using one of the aforementioned thoroughfares between 10am and 3pm, the MMDA and/or local government units will apprehend you for violating the program. That's not all though because, as a motorist, the worst is yet to come and will probably challenge your creativity in finding a way to get to your destination if you insist on using your vehicle while it's covered by the number-coding scheme. That's because come November 1 according to, the MMDA will expand the coverage of the "No Window Hours" to 16 more major roads in Metro Manila. So, joining EDSA, C-5, Alabang-Zapote Road, and Roxas Boulevard on November 1 are the following: CM Recto Avenue Pres. Quirino Avenue Araneta Avenue EDSA C.P. Garcia Avenue Bulacan-Rizal-Manila-Cavite Regional Expressway Roxas Blvd. Taft Avenue SLEX Shaw Boulevard Ortigas Avenue Magsaysay Blvd./Aurora Blvd. Quezon Avenue/Commonweath Avenue A. Bonifacio Avenue Rizal Avenue Del Pan/Marcos Highway/MacArthur HighwayIn addition to more roads being covered by the "No Window Hours" program, the MMDA will also extend by one hour the number-coding scheme which means from the current 7am to 7pm ban, it will be from 7am to 8pm come November 1.Good luck to all of us, then.[...]

Ford introduces new Ranger FX4 variant

Ford Philippines recently introduced to the market a new variant of its wildly popular Ranger pickups--the Ford Ranger FX4. Unlike new variants that most carmakers overload with chrome trims and accents, the American brand went the other way by fitting the vehicle with black elements.

The FX4's new grille, for example, comes in black and incorporates a mesh pattern design. Also rendered in black are the fog light bezels, 18-inch alloy wheels, and a new sports bar while a graphic element draws your attention to the hood, under which resides Ford's proven 160hp and 385Nm 2.2-liter Duratorq  diesel engine.

To make the FX4's rear stand out from other Ranger variants, its tailgate has a blacked-out decal with the RANGER model name laid out in negative space, allowing the body color to show through.

The dark finishes continues in the FX4's interior to give the pickup a premium look and feel, giving it a unique level of refinement within the Ranger lineup. Completing the upgrades to the vehicle is the FX4 logo embroidered on the leather seats.

The new Ford Ranger FX4 is available in Cool White, Aluminum Metallic, Meteor Grey, and Jet Black at the following price points:

• Ranger FX4 (Six-speed Manual Transmission) at P1.299 million, and
• Ranger FX4 (Six-speed Automatic Transmission) at P1.359 million

You can check out the Ford Ranger FX4 at your nearest Ford dealerships now.

Aston Martin begins production of DB11 grand tourer

Roughly two months after Aston Martin ceased the production of its DB9 grand tourer, the British carmaker has announced that it has begun to produce its successor, the highly-anticipated DB11, with the first units being delivered to customers by October 2016.

"It's an exciting moment for the entire company when the first car of a new model goes into production," said Aston Martin President and Chief Executive Andy Palmer, who will personally inspect the first 1,000 cars to assure the quality of the vehicle. "The DB11 is a special car and it heralds the start of a new and exciting era for Aston Martin."

The Aston Martin DB11 was first revealed at the Geneva Motor Show last March. To date, over 3,000 orders have reportedly been placed for the DB11 which will all be hand-built at the company's sports car production plant and headquarters, in Gaydon, Warwickshire.
