Pre-K! Already?

My handsome little man!

I can’t believe that he is old enough to start Pre-K!

Let it snow...and snow and then snow some more!

2010-03-29T01:06:43.863-04:00

We got 18 inches of snow in less than 24 hours.  Christopher loves it, to say the least! Chad doesn't like to shovel the snow. Caren doesn't care as long as she can stay inside and look at the beautiful white yard.  The dogs don't love it, but I think they don't mind it very much as long as they can "go" outside. Winter is wonderful and a new adventure for us southerners.[...]

Happy Halloween!

2009-11-14T22:45:30.139-05:00

Christopher was a chef this year. We gave him many options, but a chef is all he wanted to be! Officially, he was Iron Chef Bobby Flay. Hilarious! I guess my watching Food Network has rubbed off on him (wink wink). He was so cute in his chef coat and hat! He was also stiff because he had on three layers of clothes on him. It was around 35 degrees outside when we went trick-or-treating. We didn’t want to put on a coat on him since that would cover his cute costume! He got lots of candy and really enjoyed being a chef!

Okay, so Christopher loves to go to the pool, but won't let go of me...ever. That is until today. There was a little boy there named Zach who was 3 years old too. Christopher observed him for a while in the pool. After about an hour he got up the nerve to get on a float...then to "swim" all by himself! I could not believe it! My little boy is no longer scared of the pool! I'm so proud of him! I will just have to be even more vigilant at the pool since he has so much confidence in the water. His Aunt Jeanne is a swim teacher at the local community center and has offered to give him swimming lessons. The video's were taken by a digital camera, so they aren't that great quality wise. There was a helicopter hovering nearby and it was LOUD. Nonetheless, you get to see him in action! Enjoy!

New State, New Job, New Adventures!

2009-07-06T00:48:20.033-04:00

Chad got a great new job with Nationwide in Columbus, Ohio! We are excited to live near his mom, brother, sister-in-law and nephews! Christopher loves being around his cousins and wants to see them all the time. We will miss seeing Caren's family often since they are so far away now. We hope to visit them a few times a year and hope they will come visit us too! We are praying that our house in North Carolina sells soon so we can buy a new home here in Ohio. Here are a few pictures of Christopher having fun with his cousins and I'll post more adventures soon.

Train Ride

2009-01-25T02:04:25.098-05:00

Christopher loves trains. Any train, anytime, anywhere, he loves to ride them. We took him to uptown Charlotte to ride the Lynx light rail train and he loved every minute f it! Here are a few pictures of our ride. (image)

We Love Fall

2008-10-01T15:00:29.752-04:00

(image)
We love Fall! Especially now that we live in North Carolina and can see all the beautiful colors when the leaves change. We are so excited to go pick apples next weekend! We are also excited to drive the Blue Ridge Parkway next month when the leaves changing are in full swing. We love the cooler weather and the cold nights.
October will be a busy month! I will be turning 33 in two weeks...I'm old now! Christopher will be Thomas the Train for Halloween. We'll go to a Truck or Treat at church where it is a little safer. Christopher is looking forward to getting candy to put in his pumkin again. I know he will love carving a real pumpkin this year too. I'd have to say that the Fall is my favorite time of the year!
Happy Fall to everyone!

Farewell Elder Lazalde

2008-09-21T20:04:15.427-04:00

(image) We often have the missionaries over to eat dinner at our house. Christopher absolutely loves them and was especially taken with Elder Lazalde from Idaho. He was only here for a month before he completed his mission and returned home. This picture was taken his last night in the mission field. I think the picture speaks a thousand words of why Chrisotpher liked him so much! He was lots of fun and we wish him the best as he returns home!

Big Boy Bed

2008-09-23T02:03:46.586-04:00

(image) (image)
Christopher has never been a dare devil so we left in his crib as long as we possibly could. He only climbed out once! We finally got him a big bed of his own. He loves it! He sleeps so well in it and loves the freedom to get up when he want's to get up. The first few nights he went right to sleep and then he realized that he could get up again and again...and again to see what we were doing. After a week we got all the kinks worked out and now he goes to bed just like a big boy! It is hard to believe that he will be 3 years old in only four months. He looks so big in his new bed!

Chad's Birthday

2008-09-23T02:59:07.496-04:00

(image) (image) Chad is a year away from hitting the big 4-0! We had a great time celebrating his 39th birthday at a local restaurant in Charlotte called Salsa's. We miss the good Mexican food we used to eat in Arizona and have been searching for a good place here in NC. We finally found it! They make their chips and salsa fresh and you really can tell difference. YUM! The best part of the evening was when the servers sang Happy Birthday in Spanish and then smashed shipped cream into his face! Hilarious! Christopher got a bit overwhelmed with all of the commotion, but quickly got over it when Chad shared his sombrero with him. Happy Birthday Chad! We love you! (image) (image) (image) (image)

NC Transportation Museum

2008-09-18T15:35:24.643-04:00

We had lots of fun visiting the North Carolina Transportation Museum. The main attraction was a short train ride around the property. This was of course an absolute thrill for our little train lover! He is obsessed with Thomas & Friends and for anything pertaining to trains. His second favorite thing was the "Train Store" as he named it. It was the NCTM store, but the only thing he focused on was the trains. We did manage to get a picture of Chad and Christopher in front of an old fire truck, but that didn't last long. He wanted to get back to the trains!

Georgia Trip

We went to visit Aunt Beth, Uncle Mark and Meredith the last week of July. Mark had some medical test done so Christopher, Meredith and I hung out for a day playing on their farm. Christopher discovered that he liked Coke! He hadn't had it before and now loves the stuff. Of course it is a treat and he doesn't get very often. They had lots of fun playing in the barn. It was so hot outside that we stayed in there. The kitchen area of the barn has air conditioning so that was where they played the most. Christopher loves all of his cousins and always wants to visit them!

Summer Fun

2008-07-04T05:32:19.527-04:00

We bought this little pool last year when the summer was over and it was on clearance. It was really hot the other day and so I thought it might be fun for Christopher to play outside in it. He had an absolute blast! He had so much fun splashing and making a mess! He really enjoyed playing with the hose as we filled it up. Actually, I think he enjoyed that the most. Farful and Maisy would both come up to the pool to check out what was going on and Christopher would try his hardest to get them wet. He just laughed as they ran away to keep from getting wet.

(image)

(image)

(image)

He drank some of the water from the hose even though I told him it wouldn't taste good. After drinking some he said, "Yuck! It's too warm!" I can only imagine how yucky it tasted!

(image)

(image)

He was holding the hose still so Maisy would come up to the pool just so he could get her wet. Notice the clever smile on his face. So funny!

Trip to Ohio

2008-07-04T05:30:04.356-04:00

It was wonderful to be able to spend five days with Leslie (Chad's mom), Steve (Chad's older brother), Jeanne (Steve's wife), and their children, Trevor, Bryce and Andrew. Jeanne is a wonderful cook and she kept us well fed with delicious meals. Trevor, Bryce and Andrew all have great personalities and kept us laughing. All of them were such a great help with Christopher. He just loved all of them! He still ask for Trevor, Bryce and Andrew everyday. He thinks that they are just right around the block and that we should go visit each day. Wouldn't that be nice! Sadly, I got pictures of everyone except Steve. I never had my camera out when he was around and did not realize it until we got home and uploaded the pictures. We had such a great time spending time with family and wish that we could visit more often. Here are just a few pictures we took while staying in Ohio. Bryce was amazing with Christopher! He was great and raced Christopher down the stairs (sliding on their butts!) again and again. He always let him win too. So sweet! Andrew and Bryce were playing in the sprinkler and were trying to get Christopher to join in the fun. Christopher resisted as you can see and ran away as fast as he could! Bryce and Andrew. They are just hilarious! Christopher had fun playing with these two boogie boards, but he never played in the water. Gigi hugging Christopher goodbye...such a precious moment. Bryce carrying Christopher away from the street...what a great cousin! Trevor, Jeanne, Bryce and Andrew Leslie watching Christopher play. He regularly covered their den floor with toys. He was amazed by all the neat things they had.[...]

Our Garden

2008-06-06T21:18:45.123-04:00

Red Potato Plant Yellow Squash Christopher trying to climb the tomato circle...silly boy. Silver Queen Corn...YUM! We are so excited to have a garden this year! This is the first place that we have lived that things actually grow. All of our plants would just wilt and die in Arizona and Florida. We are growing yellow squash, zucchini, butter beans, green beans, runner peas, purple hull bean, corn, okra, red potatoes, tomatoes, cantaloupe, watermelon, seedless cucumbers, cucumbers, onions, garlic, romaine lettuce, spinach, peppers, asparagus, broccoli, fennel, carrots and...I think that is it. We have also started an herb garden in containers. Hopefully we will be able to fill our freezer and can lots of pasta sauce and salsa. We are so excited to have fresh veggies to eat! We are thrilled every time we go out to find new things growing. It would be perfect if it would rain a little every days and the weeds would stop growing. Here are a few pictures that I took today while we were out watering and pulling weeds. [...]

Daredevil Christopher

2008-05-03T08:10:01.265-04:00

Christopher has got to be the most reserved 2 year old I have ever met. He is normally scared of heights and riding in anything that moves beside a car. Well, he was outside with Chad a few days ago and Chad turned around to find that Christopher had climbed to the top of the ladder! He was very proud of himself. Needless to say we have to keep him away from the ladder now!

Trip to Georgia

2008-05-03T01:43:08.905-04:00

A few weeks ago Christopher and I went to visit my sister, Beth, and her daughter Meredith in Georgia. Christopher loved going to Uncle Mark's barn and riding in Beth's truck. He adored Meredith! He really thought she was the cat's meow because of all the neat things she could do. It was fun to see him enjoy someone that is five years older than him. He loved "riding" on her Barbie scooter, so his Aunt Beth bought him a Red Rider scooter. He also played with sidewalk chalk for the first time and really had lots of fun drawing on the cement with Meredith. We had a great time and he still says "wanna go the the barn?" [...]

Blue Bouncy Ball

2008-04-12T02:08:23.262-04:00

(image)
Christopher is all of the sudden obsessed with motion and movement. He loves balls, cars, airplanes, tractors, trains, etc. Today we bought a big blue bouncy ball. He even wanted to hold it on the way home from Target and he was still holding it on his lap when we got home and he was fast asleep in his car seat. He played with it all night and then did not want to stop playing with it when it was bed time. We had already stripped him down to his diaper for a bath, but no...he wanted to keep playing! He is so creative with his play and loves to make us laugh by doing silly things. He grabbed his Easter bucket and began to wear it like a hat while he was playing with his bouncy ball. He just makes us laugh! He has such a personality! We finally had to hide it in a closet to get him to settle down, but of course that brought on the tears. I know he will wake up in the morning and ask for it first thing. Ah, little boys and their toys! (image)

Spring!

2008-04-12T01:56:49.794-04:00

(image) (image) We have had some lovely surprises this spring in our new yard. We had no idea that we had so many bulbs, flowering trees and bushes the first 7 months that we lived here. In March our yard suddenly began to bloom! Lots of daisy, azaleas, a tulip tree, tulips, Easter lilies, Camellia bushes and many more! We love all the beauty and variety! It is so foreign us after living in Arizona and Florida for the past seven years. Here are a few pictures from our many blooming plants!

Horton Hears a Who!

2008-04-07T00:11:57.943-04:00

(image) Last night we took Christopher to the movies for the first time to see Horton Hears A Who!. It was such a great movie! Great animation, great characters, great story line. After all, who doesn't love Dr. Seuss?
(image)

Christopher was instantly amazed by the size of the screen and all the vivid colors. Thank goodness the sound was enough to drown out him saying over and over again, "oooohhhh, look at that elephant!" as loud as he could possible could.

(image)

He loves popcorn, so that kept him quite (and still) for a little while.

(image)

We had a great time as a family at the movies! We definitely recommend Horton Hears a Who! if you have a chance to see it before it leaves theaters. This is a movie we will be adding to our collection when it comes out on DVD.
