We were at Fresh Thyme over the weekend and we came across what appears to be a nest of alien eggs just waiting to hatch. The good news is that I didn’t see any aliens, the bad news is people were taking them home! We’re all doomed.

I’m a fan of Beaver Builder, but no search on mobile? What’s up with that?! We can easily add it back, though. You just have to add a function to your functions.php file and you’ll get a search box under the header. This uses WordPress’ wp_is_mobile function to determine if we’re on mobile or not....

Beaver Builder is a great way to create quickly generate a WordPress site, however, it does have some quirks. One of which is no indication that menus have children. However, that’s a quick fix with a few lines off CSS. Check out the before and after: This code is setup to just effect the main...

Anchor links are a convenient way to send people directly to the content they’re looking for. However, if you have a fixed header, things quickly become a problem as the content is now hidden behind the sticky header. If you’re writing your own code, you can easily use CSS to get around this. Check out...

Have you heard of Grammarly? Grammarly is a free (and paid) service that checks your writing for spelling and grammar mistakes. The best part is, it really works! I know the first thing a lot of people are going to say is that their operating system has spelling and grammar check too. It’s true, they...

Gravity Forms is great, but lacks some basic accessibility. Good thing it’s extendable. Grab the WCAG 2.0 form fields for Gravity Forms plugin and it’ll automatically add fieldset tags to your questions with radio buttons, checkboxes, or multiple inputs. Not sure why Gravity Forms doesn’t do this by default, but very happy to have a plugin...

I’ve recently become a big fan of rechargeable led motion sensor lights. I’ve got one at one end of the living room and it lights up the room enough for me not to run into something. I’ve got two on our stairs going to the basement and one on the stairs going upstairs. All I...

I’m all for AI but trying to make a robot human is not going well. The face moves and that only makes it worse.

Found a great ice cream place in Fremont California called MilkCow. I got the Santorini which is soft serve organic ice cream, tropical blue syrup, Oreo crumbles, nuts, and one big piece of cotton candy. I’m not sure if the cotton candy is organic or not, but it was delicious. It tasted way better than fair...

Google indexes everything it finds and sometimes it finds things that it shouldn’t. Google has a nice removal tool that temporarily removes URLs from Google and this is actually really good when you want something out rather quickly. In my experiences, it remove pages from Google Search within 24 hours. The downside to Google’s removal tool is...

I always have good intentions to do something creative, but this year I actually got a few projects done. One is a reversible scarecrow snowman that I my wife saw on Pinterest. It’s about three feet tall and has weathered the weather pretty well so far as it sits outside our front door. The clothes pins...

This year I participated in my first Reddit Secret Santa gift exchange. I wasn’t exactly sure what to expect out of it, but thought it was worth a try. Turns out, it was great. Now I didn’t get Bill Gates as my secret Santa, but the person who got me made me very happy. They got me...

Over Thanksgiving I decided to hook up our living room TV to the antenna on the roof. For a long time it was just using Roku and that works for most everything, but I wanted to watch the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade on NBC so I thought I’d get it hooked up. Turn out, I couldn’t....
