By: Dave Gray Fri, 02 Mar 2007 07:19:41 +0000 Thanks Eric, I'll check it out. Not sure if that is available to Aust. customers though. Cheers
By: Eric Fri, 02 Mar 2007 05:19:17 +0000 The 20inch at the US Apple store is only 1300 USD, if you check the refurb section. That said the .au Apple store does not list the 20inch Core 2 Duo as available. I got my 1.8Ghz 17inch for 850 USD when the 1.9Gz 17inch was ~1200 USD.
By: Knightwise Fri, 23 Feb 2007 09:49:46 +0000 A black Imac ? Ieuw ! that would be awefull. And the black Tax is about 150 dollar US.
By: Dave Gray Fri, 23 Feb 2007 09:21:47 +0000 Ohhh.... black iMac to match the iPod... Woot. BUT one criticism of Mac and that is that they will probably charge an extra 100 bucks for it :(
By: Tony Fri, 23 Feb 2007 08:58:43 +0000 Did you see the other rumour today. Black iMacs Looks yummy.
By: Knightwise Fri, 23 Feb 2007 07:34:48 +0000 Tony :) . I'm not gonna comment on your remark in fear of being called an ANTI-Fanboy ;)
By: Tony Fri, 23 Feb 2007 02:31:43 +0000 Remember if you go Parallells and are silly enough to use Vista before a Service Pack is released you need to have the advanced version and not update or home basic as virtulisation is prohibited under the EULA. It's just a way for Microsoft to get more money from us. It is perfectly ok to run basic versions under Bootcamp though as that isn't defined as virtulisation.
By: Global Geek Thu, 22 Feb 2007 14:44:23 +0000 I was talking to Tim King (he used to sell Macs) and he said that while Garageband is good it isn't as good as what I am using. That is why I am looking at software to purchase. But in doing so the software that I am looking at covers 3 or 4 separate programs that I own for the PC. So I can justify the expense to some degree. However, the parallels idea was and is an option if I don't get the Mac software... But man it is nice and powerful. I agree Audacity as good as it is defiantly doesn't cut the mustard with what I do for the show. Most shows now have as many as 25+ separate tracks... some shows a lot more. There is no way in hell I am going to try that with Audacity!
By: Knightwise Thu, 22 Feb 2007 14:33:30 +0000 Probably very true. There are loads of free tools out there to do what you do now. As a multitrack recorder Garageband is magnificent. But for advanced editing Audacity might not cut the cake. But don't go overboard on software Dave .. And if all else fails there is still parallels.
By: Tony Thu, 22 Feb 2007 11:15:09 +0000 LOL what is she worried about. I am sure you can get a lot of good free tools out there to do the show.. or use garageband :P
By: Knightwise Thu, 22 Feb 2007 11:03:27 +0000 "My wife is still recovering from the quote of the 20 inch" ... i can take that the wrong way in soooo many ways :)
By: Global Geek Thu, 22 Feb 2007 07:22:09 +0000 My wife is still recovering from the quote of the 20 inch... She would need hospitalization if I was considering the 24! The big investment will be the software I need for the show. The cost of that has pushed up the price a bit. Plus I am going to get the 256MB video card and a few other things in regards to hardware. I will update everything on the next show! Thanks for asking.
By: Tony Thu, 22 Feb 2007 03:22:17 +0000 So Dave how is that quote for the iMac going. You should do what I am doing very soon and get the 24 inch iMac instead :) I can't wait.....
By: Global Geek Wed, 21 Feb 2007 07:05:52 +0000 I never said you were a fanboy... I think I said "anti-fan" - or something like that :) |
