ComicList Preview: DEADPOOL KILLS THE MARVEL UNIVERSE AGAIN #1
Media Release -- If you're Deadpool and you kill the entire Marvel Universe, why not eat some chimichangas…and then kill all over again? Proving there's nothing like revenge, the superstar team of Cullen Bunn (X-Men Blue, Venomverse) and Dalibor Talajic (Deadpool Kills The Marvel Universe, Redwolf) reunite to bring you Deadpool Kills The Marvel Universe Again, and the Merc with the Mouth has never been more ready to return to that katana. "This is not a sequel to the original story," warns series writer Cullen Bunn. "This is an all new murderous rampage. The Marvel Universe has changed a great deal since the first series. So, of course, Deadpool had to up his game and change his tactics." How so? "Deadpool is pulling out all the stops on this killing spree," continues Bunn. "In the second issue of the original series, he killed Spider-Man. In the second issue of this series, he goes after the entire Spider-Man family. And that's not all. Good ol' Wade is approaching these kills in all new ways, and he's going after huge targets. How does Deadpool kill an entire pantheon of mythic beings? You'll find out in the first issue. And that's just the beginning of the carnage." Of course, if you're Wade Wilson, it doesn't mean things are going to be easy – especially when you're on a mission to kill the X-Men, the Avengers, Gwenpool, Spider-Man, and more! You're not going to want to miss this all-new five-issue series, Deadpool Kills The Marvel Universe Again, hitting comic shops this July! Marvel manufactures mutant mayhem in DEADPOOL VS. OLD MAN LOGAN
Media Release -- This fall, katanas and claws will clash when two of Marvel's deadliest heroes come together, in a clash you can only imagine! Superstar writer Declan Shalvey (Deadpool, Moon Knight) and fan-favorite artist Mike Henderson (Secret Wars: Battleworld) team up to bring you a regenerative, cranky old X-Man and a regenerative, wacky Merc with the Mouth…in a story so explosive, not even the promise of chimichangas can save the day! "DEADPOOL vs. OLD MAN LOGAN is has everything I've wanted to see in either a Deadpool book, or a Wolverine book," said series writer Declan Shalvey. "We get to see both characters be the best at what they do, while also getting to see them be the classic odd-couple. Both characters naturally bump heads against each other, which is a lot of fun to write. I've been so fortunate to have Heather Antos edit this book. It's been a dream working on it, she's done everything she could to make this book what I want it to be, and a great working experience to boot." James "Logan" Howlett is after a newly discovered Omega-level mutant. But if you think he's going to let Deadpool help him, you're sorely mistaken. Naturally, Deadpool vows to outmatch his newly marked enemy for the entirety of their mission. Will they find common ground with each other along the way? "Importantly, the book features Old Man Logan though, not Wolverine," said Shalvey. "That character has a different kind of baggage than old-school Logan, which makes him relate to Wade Wilson more than one might think. The characters have a lot in common, so having a book featuring both really makes sense, but they are clearly very different personalities, that's been a great thing to play with." "DEADPOOL vs. OLD MAN LOGAN is a not so buddy-buddy buddy comedy with all the bickering, explosions and stabbing you'd expect from a comic starring Deadpool and Logan as they both race to do their version of the right thing by a young mutant," said artist Mike Henderson. "Declan has written this flaming runaway train of an action script that feels like drawing a Jason Statham movie and Lee Loughridge is bringing the heat on colors. So anyone who wouldn't mind seeing our two heroes cut their way through some faceless corporate jackboots won't want to miss it because it's been crazy fun to draw." "Seeing Mike Henderson draw this book is a revelation," added Shalvey. "I've been a fan of his for a while, but I think this is the book that's going to turn a lot of heads and see just what Mike is truly capable of." Don't miss the most eclectic clash in the Marvel Universe when DEADPOOL vs. OLD MAN LOGAN hits comic shops this October! Donny Cates joins Marvel Comics as the new writer of Doctor Strange
Media Release -- Marvel Entertainment is excited to announce that writer Donny Cates, who has brought his talent to comic powerhouses such as Image (God Country, Redneck), IDW (Star Trek), and Dark Horse (The Paybacks, Ghost Fleet, Buzzkill), will now bring his explosive storytelling to Marvel in an exclusive agreement. "I've wanted to write for Marvel since I was a little kid, so the opportunity to come into this incredible world and play with all of these amazing characters is a dream come true for me," said Cates. "Everyone at Marvel has been great to work with, and we've put our collective heads together to make some really special stories for the fans. I've never been more excited to tell the stories that I'm telling today. I feel like a kid again. Albeit a kid who is inflicting...just terrible things upon all your favorite characters." Today, Marvel can also reveal that Cates, along with artist Gabriel Hernandez Walta, will be the new creative team on DOCTOR STRANGE taking over the title in November. And with this new team comes a new Sorcerer Supreme- Loki, the Norse god of Mischief! "There's a new sheriff in town...and he's not really the trustworthy type," Cates teased. "That's right, kids...Loki has taken the mantle of Sorcerer Supreme from our good Doctor! What does that mean for Stephen? And what lengths will Strange go to see his title and his home returned to him? I'll say this....you can guess all you like, but there is absolutely no way anyone will see the answers to these questions coming. As a dedicated Marvel fan myself, I can confidently say the events of this arc are some of the most shocking things in Marvel comics to date. I'm so excited to see what everyone thinks!" Exclusively at Marvel, Cates is prepared to bring his powerhouse ideas and sharp approach to the heroic, well-known characters of the Marvel Universe. "Donny brings big ideas to the table, and that's going to be immediately apparent in his first projects," said Marvel EIC, Axel Alonso. "We expect him to be a major contributor to the Marvel Universe's evolution in the coming year...and beyond."
