Fri, 02 Dec 2016 00:07:17 +0000If conservatives and Republicans are wondering if there are any sensible Democrats in Congress, then the former will get their answer by reading a 11/28/16 article by The Hill titled “Vulnerable Dems ready to work with Trump”. Here are three quotes from the article. Sen. Heidi Heitkamp (D-N.D.): “My priority is standing up for North Dakota, not party politics. The reason I’m in the U.S. Senate is to work with Republicans and Democrats to get things done.” Sen. Joe Donnelly (D-Ind.): “My responsibility to Hoosiers is to support the best ideas, regardless of whether the idea comes from a Republican
Thu, 01 Dec 2016 20:17:48 +0000The Presidential election of 2016 is over, even if millions of people seem to be in serious denial about that fact. An appalling example of this trend-to-tantrum is evident in the recount efforts in Wisconsin, Michigan, and to a much lesser degree Pennsylvania. A number of pablum excuses have been offered up to explain the recount demands, usually based on some assumption that any hacking can be discovered and ‘corrected’ by the recount, that recounts mean improving ballot validity, or that denying the recount is somehow proof that Trump is unethical. This article is written to address those canards. Let

Wed, 30 Nov 2016 02:15:34 +0000If a story published by the Associated Press is accurate, then the management of the Breitbart website is experiencing a case of butt hurt. From The Hill: “Kellogg Co. says it is pulling its ads from Breitbart News, the conservative website whose former chairman Stephen Bannon will serve in Donald Trump’s White House.” The Associated Press story quotes Breitbart management as saying, “Kellogg’s decision to blacklist one of the largest conservative media outlets in America is economic censorship of mainstream conservative political discourse. That is as un-American as it gets.” Breitbart management couldn’t be more wrong. There is nothing un-American

Sun, 27 Nov 2016 11:00:38 +0000Here is an excerpt from a Wall Street Journal article by Janet Hook: “In the absence of a galvanizing party leader or a consensus about what the Democratic Party should do in the wake of the 2016 election, there is a proliferation of power centers offering different diagnoses and solutions for the future. . . The scattershot self-examination is reminiscent of Will Rogers’ famous aphorism: “I am not a member of any organized political party. I am a Democrat.”” The day after the 2016 presidential election, Politico quoted an unnamed Democratic strategist as saying, “The party is in a

Wed, 23 Nov 2016 22:10:42 +0000Some parties on the political Right are fretting because President-elect Donald Trump is no longer interested in pursuing legal action against Hillary Clinton. From Politico: Judicial Watch, a conservative watchdog agency that sued to get more of Clinton’s State Department emails released, urged Trump on Tuesday to “commit his administration” to investigating Clinton, while promising to continue its own litigation and investigations to help uncover possible scandals. For Trump to refuse to do so “would be a betrayal of his promise to the American people to ‘drain the swamp’ of out-of-control corruption in Washington, DC,” Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton

Thu, 17 Nov 2016 20:47:15 +0000From the Washington Post: When the man saw a patrol car parked on the exit ramp of a Florida interstate, he witnessed a scene too troubling to ignore: a sheriff deputy being slammed to the ground and beaten by a man in plain clothes. The passerby, whom the Lee County Sheriff’s Office is now calling a “Good Samaritan,” rushed to the two men, telling the attacker he would shoot him if he refused to stop beating the deputy. The attacker, later identified as 53-year-old Edward Strother, continued to pin down the deputy and attack him, and the deputy struggled to
