Wed, 19 Apr 2017 01:50:16 +0000Many non-Christians attack Christianity on the doctrine of hell, arguing for the most part that consigning anyone to an eternity of suffering for sins committed during their lives is somehow wrong and, in the context of Jesus’ unlimited love, somehow ‘unchristian’. While many Christians struggle with the idea of eternal torment, let alone a place where billions of people must suffer without end, the doctrine is an essential part of Christian faith, and however difficult we find it to accept the doctrine, we must come to grips with fact of hell. I am writing this post because I originally rebutted

A court of law might have to answer that question in an odd case taking place in New York City. From USA Today, April 12, 2017: “”Charging Bull” is ready to rumble with “Fearless Girl.” The sculptor who created the iconic “Charging Bull” statue in New York City’s financial district says the city and an investment company violated his rights by installing the newly popular “Fearless Girl” statue near his creation without permission for what amounts to a commercial ad campaign. . . . .

Sun, 16 Apr 2017 19:23:53 +0000A couple days ago, I read Ryan McLaughlin’s poorly-argued post against the existence of Hell on Intellectual Takeout, http://www.intellectualtakeout.org/blog/if-hell-exists-what-does-it-mean-god and posted a detailed rebuttal. Within hours, Dr. McLaughlin deleted my rebuttal, as well as other comments pointing out errors in his argument. It seems Dr. McLaughlin was arrogant enough to think that censorship was an appropriate tactic in a group dedicated to reasoned discourse. I thought about reposting my rebuttal, but for this post I think it more intriguing to consider how arrogance has become a common social norm. Consider the continuing fallout over United Flight 3411. The incident has
Sun, 16 Apr 2017 07:32:07 +0000Mat 28:1 In the end of the sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulchre. Mat 28:2 And, behold, there was a great earthquake: for the angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat upon it. Mat 28:3 His countenance was like lightning, and his raiment white as snow: Mat 28:4 And for fear of him the keepers did shake, and became as dead men. Mat 28:5 And the angel answered and said

Tue, 11 Apr 2017 19:03:21 +0000From Yahoo! PYONGYANG, April 11 (Reuters) – North Korean state media on Tuesday warned of a nuclear attack on the United States at any sign of U.S. aggression as a U.S. Navy strike group steamed towards the western Pacific. U.S. President Donald Trump, who has urged China to do more to rein in its impoverished neighbour, said in a Tweet North Korea was “looking for trouble” and the United States would “solve the problem” with or without China’s help. Tension has escalated sharply on the Korean peninsula with talk of military action by the United States gaining traction following its

Fri, 07 Apr 2017 15:00:07 +0000President Donald Trump made a brilliant move when he ordered the U.S. military to make a missile attack on the Shayrat airfield in Syria’s Homs province. First, in his explanation of his order, President Trump highlights Syrian dictator Bashar al-Assad’s latest victims: “Using a deadly nerve agent, Assad choked out the lives of helpless men, women and children. It was a slow and brutal death for so many. Even beautiful babies were cruelly murdered in this very barbaric attack. No child of god should ever suffer such horror.” Second, in his explanation of his order, President Trump takes an indirect
Thu, 06 Apr 2017 19:24:30 +0000Dear Democrats: What is sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander. That is the lesson to be learned from the decision by Senate Republicans to “go nuclear” when it comes to the confirmation of nominees to the U.S. Supreme Court. From CBS News: “Senate Republicans successfully invoked the so-called “nuclear option” Thursday, eliminating the filibuster for Supreme Court nominees. This clears the way for President Trump’s nominee, Neil Gorsuch, to be confirmed as an associate justice to the high court.” Regarding the GOP use of the nuclear option, The Hill quotes Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer as saying,
Tue, 04 Apr 2017 19:17:31 +0000From FoxNews: As Susan Rice faces growing calls to testify under oath, the former Obama administration official now accused of ordering the unmasking of Trump officials under surveillance is suggesting that she never did so for political purposes, and that it is sometimes “necessary” for investigative purposes. Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas, a member of both the Senate Judiciary and Select Committee on Intelligence, suggested in a tweet earlier Tuesday that Rice “needs to testify under oath.” He included a link to a Wall Street Journal piece “Susan Rice Unmasked,” a report that suggests Rice had sought the name of at
