Poll: What kind of features you'd like to see in Feedreader?

Thu, 25 May 2006 12:34:25 +0300

We are constantly want to make Feedreader better and better. In this forum users are talking mostly about small additions to Feedreader. But at the same time we'd like to add some bigger features, too. Features what are not small usability additions (like "add configuration option to notification dialog") but REALLY NEW FEATURES POSSIBLY NOT EXISTING IN OTHER READERS.

So in this thread you can do some brainstorming and let's see if something interesting comes out :)

Custom fields in article page

Wed, 22 Nov 2006 10:38:19 +0200

Hi!

We have been asked a lot of times about showing custom RSS fields (comment link and so on) in article page.

At the moment the standard article page does not contain those custom fields because we like to keep things simple.

At the same time the internals of Feedreader are REALLY REALLY advanced and theoretically you can display whatever custom RSS field in article page. By the way - you can even specify your own custom fields if you publish feed. And then make Feedreader display those custom fields the way you want.

IDEA FROM CREATORS : Your Feedreader Statistics

Tue, 21 Nov 2006 13:36:29 +0200

We are thinking about a feature. It could be called something like "Your Feedreader Statistics". Functionality of this feature lies in a dialog/window there you can see following statistics about Feedreader:

  • How many feeds subscribed
  • How many articles in database
  • How many unread articles
  • How many Starred articles
  • Database file size
  • Enclosures/Podcasts total filesize sum
  • List of feeds that are not updated (do not have new items) in past 30 days
  • Etc...

What do you think about this possible feature? And do have something what you'd like to see in this Statistics dialog?

Forgot one configuration option...

Fri, 21 Jul 2006 15:43:59 +0300

Please add automaticarticledelete=1 to feedreader.ini under [misc] section, if you do not like confirmation then deleting articles.

Development snapshot...

Tue, 30 May 2006 11:34:10 +0300

For interested parties there is development snapshot available. We have fixed some bugs and added some features. Finally it will be released as Feedreader 3.03. What are changes:

*Some users are complaining about tray icon not turning yellow if there are new messages. I hope this is fixed.
*Problem with orange circle and open feed refresh if there are new messages. It should work better now.
*Added possibility to change update period and archive size for all feeds. Just select "feed management" and press control+A to select all feeds.
*Now there's new configuration option under feed properties "Open article link automatically".
*some links were not opening before if double clicking on article title in article list. Now they should open.

For bravehearts - Feedreader 3.02 development build

Wed, 17 May 2006 16:04:27 +0300

We are releasing 3.02 on Friday. At the moment it's possible to get development build of 3.02

What has changed:

    * Right to left reading support added
    * Limited user account support
    * Faster and more resource-efficient startup
    * Improved feed parsing
    * Frequent actions as buttons in header
    * Now it's possible to press "Next unread" and jump to next unread feed if there are no more unread articles in current feed
    * "Mark all read" menuitem when "All news" is selected
    * More options available in advanced settings

How to use this build:
Just extract contents of zip to Feedreader program directory.

Two new advanced configuration options

Mon, 24 Apr 2006 10:56:28 +0300

Use them in feedreader.ini

  • disableactivex=true - If you use this option then Feedreader will disable ActiveX controls in minibrowser.
  • disablejava=true - If you use this option then Feedreader will disable Java (not Javascript) in minibrowser.
