Lovecast with Rachel Russo featuring author of Todd Outcalt

Thu, 04 Aug 2011 15:55:18 +0000

Wedding Podcast Network welcomes Rachel Russo, Dating, Relationship & Image Coach and Marriage Educator, as the new host of Lovecast.  Rachel has counseled hundreds of men and women, singles and couples, who value love and marriage as much as she does and are ready to transform their lives to find it and keep it.  Her mission is to parlay beauty and love into the lives of people everywhere by redesigning the ways we date and marry.  Rachel is a contributing editor and advice specialist for Your Tango, Stage of Life, Commitment.US.com and is Miss New York on 3six5dates, a reality dating blog. In today's episode Rachel interviews Todd Outcalt, author of Before You Say I Do,  Important Questions for Couples to Ask Before Marriage. This insightful book has over 300 practical questions prospective spouses should ask each other about life-plans, education, careers, values and beliefs, sex, children, past relationships, money, and running a household.  These questions will help a couple start talking about issues that are most important to deepen their relationship for a lifetime of marriage. Todd, a United Methodist pastor, has counseled hundreds of couples before marriage and officiated at nearly an equal number of weddings. He has conducted workshops on marriage and parenting, and has led seminars on the premarital relationship.  He says in his book "it is much more difficult to have a marriage than a wedding.  Anyone can organize a wedding, but not everyone can have a long and happy marriage.  A wedding takes planning.  Marriage requires hard work." Time for some focused listening.  What are the most important topics a couple should discuss before marriage?  How can couples improve their communication skills?  What topics do couples avoid talking about?  How can you initiate uncomfortable conversations?  Can sharing too much backfire?  What are some common issues engaged couples need to work on before they tie the knot?  How can friends and family share their true thoughts and feelings during your engagement?  What is a major threat to creating and maintaining a great marriage in modern society and what can couples do about it?  What are the best marriages made of?  Todd and Rachel address these provocative questions so every bride and groom can learn more about themselves, each other and marriage in order to strengthen the foundation of their relationship. You may recognize our featured newlyweds as the red team from reality television.  Nicole Brewer and Damien Gurganious, contestants on season 7 “The Biggest Loser: Couples”,  enthusiastically share how they met at a water aerobics class at the Y, the two day proposal story, and their wedding planning and weight loss experience. Together they lost more than 250 pounds combined and could not be happier inside and out.  Nicole, a wardrobe stylist and group fitness instructor and Damien, an industrial designer, are creative, ambitious professionals devoted to each other and focused on an active and exciting life.  They talk about what they learned from being on “The Biggest Loser” ranch and how thrilling it is to finally fit into clothes they always wanted to wear, especially walking down the aisle in a figure-flattering strapless Amsale Christos “Eva” gown and Calvin Klein tuxedo.  Red is Nicole’s favorite color so it was only fitting to dress her bridesmaids in a fashionable apple red gown from David’s Bridal.  They may be watching calories but they splurged on a delicious wedding cake called "Biggest Loser's Praline Bliss". You will find out what Nicole and Damien would have done differently, what was most memorable, and their best advice for couples getting married.  This New York summer wedding was a collaborative effort that had everything a couple would want for a celebration...especially love. Newlywedcast with Karen aka Mrs. Grasshopper a September Bride

Mon, 27 Nov 2006 16:07:00 +0000

WPN found our featured bride via her blog entries posted on weddingbee.com, one of our favorite places to read about weddings.  We enjoyed Mrs. Grasshopper's story and had the privilege to hear all about her 11 month plans from engagement to honeymoon in Kauai.  Karen tells us how she met her husband Alex and how he proposed in Paris - ooh la la!  What did they plan first?  What was their top priority?  Was the groom involved?  Bring Sasha beloved dog to the wedding?  What color for your bridal party?  Write your own vows?  Flowers?  Music?  Cupcakes?  Answers to these questions and lots more.  What would you do if no one showed up at your last fitting appointment AND you learned the gown store was closing?  Karen remains unruffled and shares the drama of the dress.  This is one story you don't want to miss.  Karen used the Internet for many of the resources cited in the podcast.  She found the web invaluable.  The Knot message boards proved to be an unbelievable community. Check out the links below.    We asked Karen if she would've done anything differently.  Everything was better than expected.  Her Wedding Day Quarterback was a tremendous facilitator bringing all the elements together.  We can all learn a lot from this cool, calm and collected New York bride. Sat, 06 May 2006 13:39:00 +0000

In this Newlywedcast we speak with Jamie about her February wedding. We discussed how she met Daniel and how they got engaged.  We also go into detail about her wedding planning process. The most interesting aspect of her story is that she planned the whole wedding in only 4 days!  When Jamie suddenly found out that her fiance Daniel's family was going to be in the U.S. from Israel she thought that there was no better time to get married.  That phone call set in motion all of the wedding planning.  Listen in as Holli speaks with Jamie about how she pulled of a gorgeous affair at her parents' house, complete with a custom ceremony and 60 guests.  Hear how Jamie searched for a wedding gown and where she ultimately found her lavender Nicole Miller dress.  Jamie tells us how she decided on a menu and her choice for flowers. She even found a local baker to create a very unique wedding cake design.  If you are stressing out planning your own wedding you need to share in this great wedding planning story.  It may just help put everything into perspective.Click here to listen to this podcastWe would love to have you share your wedding planning story with us.  Please send your requests to us at our email address.  Or you can call us at our toll free listener line 800.882.1259.Please take a moment and fill out our survey.  The information is very important to us and it[...]
