In an effort to broaden my creative range when it comes to my photography, this weekend I decided to experiment with high shutter-speed captures of splashes. I'd never tried it before and I quickly learned a few things. One thing - Lego characters are a bit top heavy, and if you drop them from a foot or more above a bowl of mouthwash, in an upright position, they will, at best, land in the liquid on their back - even when you weight-load their feet with scuba fins. Not the look I was going for, but it turns out this creates a better splash anyway. This and the other four keepers came after starting with 570 rapid-fire shots from 30-40 drops, narrowed down to 20 or so good shots, narrowed down to the five.
