Kansas City bats turn a corner, more in fantasy baseball Hitting Report

The Kansas City Royals are driving fantasy baseball owners nuts this season.(image)

Weekly Planner: Corey Dickerson picks up slack for Rockies offense

Mon, 23 Jun 2014 18:31:18 -0400

When Carlos Gonzalez and Michael Cuddyer went down with long-term injuries in short order, the Rockies offense appeared to take a big hit. Instead, Corey Dickerson has cashed in on the opportunity and has potentially turned himself into a mainstay for Walt Weiss and company.(image)

Fantasy Prospect Watch: Time for Milwaukee to bring in Jimmy Nelson

Mon, 23 Jun 2014 18:31:18 -0400

The Milwaukee Brewers may sit atop the NL Central, but it may be time for them to make a change in their pitching. Their starting rotation has been good as a whole, but Marco Estrada is clearly a weak link. He's allowed a league-high 23 home runs this season. He has surrendered a longball in all but one of his 14 starts. Opposing hitters have taken him deep multiple times in exactly half of his outings; the Brewers are playing with fire if they continue to run him out there while he's allowing home runs on about one-fifth of his fly balls. His ERA is up to 4.82 and his FIP is pushing an even 6.00 in 84 innings. Luckily, Ron Roenicke has a ready-made replacement at Triple-A Nashville.(image)

Fantasy baseball Pitching Report: Ranking starting rotations

Mon, 23 Jun 2014 18:31:18 -0400

If fantasy owners drafted starting pitchers the way they typically do defenses in football, that is as units and not as individuals, which team would rank first? With football creeping into the fantasy consciousness now that the summer has hit, why not engage in a little crossover experiment between America's two favorite fantasy sports?(image)

Albert Pujols, Carlos Ruiz headline first-half rebound all-stars

Mon, 23 Jun 2014 18:31:18 -0400

Some of the best rewards you can get from draft day come from rolling the dice on a player coming off a mediocre season or gambling on a player who was injured for much of the prior season. With the season closing in on the halfway mark, I went back through this spring's drafts to find players at a handful of positions who are having great rebound seasons.(image)

Weekly Planner: Tanner Roark the Nationals' unsung pitching hero

Mon, 23 Jun 2014 18:31:18 -0400

The Nationals sit atop the NL East despite the position players being snakebitten with injuries. Bryce Harper remains on the DL, and Ryan Zimmerman, Adam LaRoche and Wilson Ramos have all spent significant time on the shelf this season. Thanks to the strength of their rotation, however, they entered play Sunday in a first-place tie with the Braves. Their plus-40 run differential is the second best in the NL and third best in the majors, trailing only the Giants and A's. They've also allowed the second fewest runs in the league, with only the Cardinals surrendering fewer.(image)

Power Rankings

Mon, 23 Jun 2014 18:31:18 -0400

When Cooperstown comes calling for a game-used bat, chances are that the player who used that bat will probably end up on top of the Fantasy Baseball Power Rankings for the week. That's exactly what happened to the Indians' Lonnie Chisenhall.(image)

Pitcher Scouting Report

Mon, 23 Jun 2014 18:31:18 -0400

It's one of the worst kept secrets in baseball that Jason Hammel probably won't be pitching in North Side of Chicago for much longer. The 31-year-old signed a one-year, $6-million deal with the Cubs this offseason, hoping to make him this year's Scott Feldman, whom they turned into Jake Arrieta and Pedro Strop at last year's trade deadline. If Hammel keeps pitching as well as he has thus far, the Cubs could get more than what Feldman brought them a year ago.(image)

Closer Rankings: Kimbrel still strong; Rays to closer-by-committee

Mon, 23 Jun 2014 18:31:18 -0400

Craig Kimbrel has been atop of the fantasy baseball closer rankings all year, so it's time to give the game's best closer some love. He's allowed five earned runs while striking out 40 batters in 22 2/3 innings this year, and we expect him to continue to produce at this rate for the rest of the year.(image)

Ranking the top 15 fantasy football sophomores for 2014

Mon, 23 Jun 2014 18:31:18 -0400

Over the past month or so, we've been hearing all about the rookies who will join the 2014 Fantasy game. But how quickly we forget about last year's rookies, who made us much happier by season's end than we expected.(image)
