Six-year-old Walter "Superbubz" Herbert's smile and upbeat attitude during his cancer battle was one that had an entire city cheering and rallying for him -- including Reds first baseman Joey Votto. Herbert died on Oct. 6 after two years of battling neuroblastoma. On Thursday night, according to WLWT-TV, Votto was among the hundreds of mourners who paid his respects to the family during a visitation.

He went from there to Arizona for his first action as a member of the Reds, participating in instructional league play, which runs through Oct. 14 for Cincinnati.

The Reds trimmed their 40-man roster on Wednesday with four roster moves. Right-handed pitcher Luke Farrell was claimed off of waivers by the Cubs, while fellow right-handers Nick Travieso, Asher Wojciechowski and Alejandro Chacin cleared waivers and were sent outright to Triple-A Louisville. The moves left the Reds' 40-man roster at 36 players.
