Sat, 21 Apr 2018 00:20:59 EDT

What looked like a memorable doubleheader for JaCoby Jones and a sweep for the Tigers fell apart in a tumultuous ninth inning. Backed by a solid start from Francisco Liriano and a two-run home run from Victor Martinez on his three-hit night, Detroit won, 4-2, to take the first game in a three-game series over Baltimore. Jeimer Candelario added an RBI triple for the Tigers, while the O's only offense came on a Trey Mancini homer and an RBI single from Adam Jones. Boyd finds success in slowing it down

Wed, 11 Apr 2018 19:25:48 EDT

Matthew Boyd is the first Tigers left-hander since Kenny Rogers in 2007 to throw six or more innings of one-run ball or better in his first two starts in a season. He has done so not by picking up his pitching, but by backing off.
