Delphi Museum Fri, 06 May 2011 08:48:26 GMT (image)Having visited the museum of antiquities next to the Delphi Sanctuary, we now proceed out into the Sanctuary itself. First, we see here a small diorama of the site as it would have looked in ancient times. We start at the lower right, and proceed up the Sacred Way which goes from right to left at the bottom, then turns to proceed up diagonally across the middle, and back to the left again at the top.

Here you can see the "Parque Zalazar" Zalazar Park in english. there you can see 2 buildings almost twins at the left. One is the Marriot Hotel and the other an offices building and there is the England embassy. T the midle of the pic you can see the park with 3 glass ventilation chimneys, that chimneys are the ventilation of the sub parking of the great modern mall that you can see hanging from the clift, that mall is "Larcomar and have parts into the clifft and other parts hanging from the cliff over a hiway close to the sea.

Where there's still no tall buildings begins the beautiful district of "BARRANCO" full of beautiful old houses, which, very cleverly and through its municipal laws are being preserved. It is unfortunate that in my district think that progress means fill the city of tall buildings:(( PS: Tomorrow Betty will have her doctor appointment, so I will can't post or comment pics ;((

AN INCA'S ANCIENT CITADEL INTO MY DISTRICT Sat, 28 Nov 2009 04:52:46 GMT (image)The hill of dried mud that you can see at the up left side is the "HUACA PUCLANA" Taken from a paraglider. Huaca Pucllana is a Pre-Columbian archaeological site in the Miraflores District of Lima, Peru. It features walls of adobe bricks, built in a bookshelf fashion, which were found to be earthquake resistant. It was constructed by the Lima culture as a ceremonial site. Today it is an active archaeological site, that was originally begun to be excavated in 1982. All the research work of the huaca is funded by the Municipality of Miraflores. It initially had an area of approximately 20 hectares, but now is only 6 hectares, due to urban development, which did not value ancient ruins until only recently. There is also an open air restaurant on the site.

HOW LOVE LOOKS FROM THE AIR Thu, 26 Nov 2009 03:54:50 GMT (image)Paraglider View of the "PARQUE DEL AMOR" (LOVE PARK)In english,It is very near my home.(full window better) Love Park is located on the cliffs of Miraflores overlooking the Pacific Ocean. It's surrounded by walls of romantic quotes scripted in mosaic tiles and a monumental statue of two lovers embracing each other in the center of the park It is a on the cliffs overlooking the Pacific ocean devoted entirely to romance. The poet Antonio Cilloniz had lamented that "In the cities, they do not build monuments to lovers", a reaction, to all the monuments in South America (and everywhere else) devoted to those who had distinguished themselves in battle by either winning or dying. Miraflores decided to be the exception and they opened the Parque del Amor in 1993 on Valentines day. The park features a prominent statue of two lovers in a passionate embrace over Cilloniz's very own words. The major sculpture in the park is of "El Beso", a couple engaged in a passionate kiss. It was sculpted by Victor Delfin. The sculpture celebrates the lovers who gather to catch the sunset on the waters of the Pacific Ocean. It is said that the locals compete for the longest kiss under this statue. Walking here at most times of the day and night you can see couples here, kissing or snuggled close together.

MY CITY FROM A PARAGLIDER Tue, 24 Nov 2009 05:53:54 GMT (image)Yesterday finally we had good wind, sun and visibility to take pictures from a paraglider so I decided to fly to make some shots. The roof, which is under my feet, is the roof of the tall building of Hotel Marriot of my district, "Miraflores". You can also see that just where the tall buildings finish is just where finish my district (Miraflores) and begin other districts as "Barranco", "Chorrillos, Etc. They are lucky that their municipalities do not allow them to demolish the beautiful old houses to build huge residential buildings or offices.

You can see how the big buildings are devouring the city , >:(( grrr!!! Luckily I have my house in a place near there but were don't have yet to much buildings and if somebody one to build one in my zone only can of max 5 floors :)) PS: lately I will try to take a pic of my home from the air !

My friend (the pilot) take me there because he said me that when we have excellent sun like that day, sometimes there are nude young ladies swimming there, because it is the highest and lone building of that zone , but the girls don't remember that sometimes some paragliders fly over, hahahah!!(¿or maybe they do it?) PS:We had very bad luck as you can see :((

I dedicate it for my dear friend Gala because she knows this place, but I think it change a lot from when she lives here. GALA THE AVENUE WHAT YOU SEE IN THE CENTER IS "AVENIDA LARCO" THE BUILDINGS THERE ARE NOW ABOUT 22 TO 25 FLOORS HIGH, YOU CAN SEE A BIG WHITE CRANE IN THE ROOF OF ONE OF THE BUILDINGS CROSSING THE AVENUE.

PS: wind was so strong that was very difficult to took some pics because for moments the paraglider shakes a lot , but I made my best for you. The problem is that I went with only a 18-55 lens and for most of the pics maybe I need a wide angle. Well I hope you like it :)
