Weekend Flashback

2017-02-13T17:35:38-08:00

Those who know me well know that I love getting outdoors on the weekend and time away from the job. I also love to share them and show off the beauty of the Pacific Northwest. On Sunday I got up to the Mount Hood National Forest and did some hiking, photography, and also some fun UAS practice flights to keep my skills up for the next project. Snow and big old growth trees. Locations: Oregon's White River SnoPark and the...

14 new languages plus English we now support 15 languages in Tinkercad to help more kids around the world make things in 3D! Nothing to install as it is cloud based and it is free. https://blog.tinkercad.com/2017/01/17/tinkercad-update-now-available-in-15-languages/ Chinese (Simplified) Chinese...

Blog Comments Temporarily Disabled

2017-02-03T17:23:50-08:00

I have had to temporarily disabled the blog comments for a few days as I migrate back to the built in blog comment system. I am changing from Disqus as they plan to display ads in the comments starting Feb. 8, 2017 unless a blog owner pays a new monthly fee to remove the ads. I am working to get all prior comments migrated and then re-enable commenting. -Shaan

Hedgehog not Groundhog

2017-02-02T11:42:27-08:00

Its about time we got things correct after years of settling for a groundhog in Pennsylvania to tell us if winter will last another 6 weeks. First let me be clear where I stand, I know the groundhog really doesn’t have any special weather predicting powers and doesn’t even talk but grandstanding humans put words in his chubby cheeks. Now back to putting on my superstition believing hat and also living in Portland Oregon lets set the record straight. It...

Photos from Yesterdays 35th Birthday of Autodesk

2017-01-31T13:51:12-08:00

Yesterday Autodesk celebrated its 35th birthday and employees, partners, and customers joined in to mark the occasion. From Portland, San Francisco, Manchester, Boston, Toronto, Moscow, Neuchâtel, and many other locations and remote offices there were employees in old Autodesk memorabilia and cakes. It was a lot of fun seeing all the nostalgia and stories in Twitter, Facebook, and other social media as well as in person. In the Lake Oswego Oregon office which is in a suburb of Portland, we...

Happy Birthday Gift to BTL Readers

2017-01-30T10:48:01-08:00

I received a nice email from a longtime Autodesk product trainer and friend Matt Murphy. He and his company are offering a little something special to Between the Lines readers today to celebrate the 35th birthday of Autodesk. It is some free Autodesk product training. How wicked cool is that? Thank you Matt! 35 Years already, Autodesk? Wow, how the time flies when you’ve been busy teaching, constructing, manufacturing, animating, designing, and, of course, having a whole lot of fun!...
