Why the Missional Movement Will FailWhy the Missional Movement Will Fail

Sat, 04 Jan 2014 01:00:00 GMT

In this Exponential 2013 podcast, Mike Breen and Sally Breen talks about why the Missional movement will fail. There has been much talk over the last few years about missional movements. Sadly, for all of the discussion and effort, the missional movement is destined to fail if it is not accompanied with a simple but significant way of making disciples who can make disciples who look like Jesus. It simply isn't sustainable. In this workshop, we'll look at the ways in which a discipling movement is always the undergirding foundation for any missional movement of lasting force and momentum.

Sat, 19 Oct 2013 23:24:44 GMT

In this Exponential 2013 podcast, Jeff Vanderstelt talks about the power, purpose, and plan of the gospel. Discipleship can no longer be seen as an "add on" or optional aspect of the mission of the Church. The imperative of the Gospel is that we make disciples who make disciples. For us to fully grasp this, a full and powerful understanding of the gospel must be seen through two lenses: Power and Purpose. When understood in this way, the gospel is both the power that saves us and it gives us the purpose for which we have been saved.

Are you having trouble leading change-even with the brightest people, best ideas and virtuous intentions? It's been said knowing how people grow, does not mean we know how to grow them. It's tricky learning how to work with others on the same team. And, even in "Kingdom work" we often meet defensiveness and experience defeat. The candid truth? Most of us are ineffective because we are pushing our own agenda-our way. Under pressure to demonstrate results or validate our cause, we have the tendency to skip crucial "soft skills" of our job. Fri, 05 Apr 2013 23:09:43 GMT

In this Exponential 2012 podcast, Kem Meyer speaks about communicating beyond bulletins, brochures, and brake sales. Every organization, especially the church, has to get over themselves and realize effective communications is really about "releasing the right response" not "sending the right message." People are not looking for more information-they are looking for ways to survive too much information. Pastors, creative professionals, ministry leaders or volunteers part of the church should help people find those answers. Instead they end up adding to the confusion. Smart communication systems that help people connect with Christ and each other don't have to be complicated.

Wed, 27 Mar 2013 23:04:43 GMT

In this Exponential 2012 podcast, Dave Saathoff speaks about five stages of cultural formation. Clear vision and good strategy are tools by which a spiritual community can serve the spiritual and social needs of a hurting world. But vision and strategy without intentional cultural development runs the risk of hollow success and a poisoned environment. Culture is environment - it guides the behaviors and beliefs of those executing strategy and vision. Yet culture cannot be microwaved. It must simmer over time. In fact, cultural development naturally progresses through FIVE STAGES. When leaders understand these stages, they can avoid unnecessary pitfalls.
