Asphalt, glass, concrete and some green

Wed, 23 Nov 2011 08:24:00 +0000

In the dense development area Zurich-West critics miss attractiverecreation areasA lot of concrete in Zurich-West: Luxury apartments in the TowerMobimo are lined with a kind of roadblock. As dense as in the trendy Zurich West is built on the Limmat elsehardly. Belonged to urban green spaces but also to turn a critic. Thishad been in planning for short.Prime Tower, Mobimo Tower, Park Tower Hard: Zurich-West can certainlyboast of prestigious architecture. Close to each other in rapidsuccession are raised in the former industrial district officebuildings and residential buildings, which will be opened soon on thestation model hardware and a new tram bridge. The urban setting isrequired, as is the contrast between harsh industrial tools andlarge-sized buildings. But also critical voices to speak. Given thehigh density of the city would have to provide more green spaces, theynote. Generally, the planning of the necessary infrastructure in newdistricts such as schools, shops, children's playgrounds, areas forthe administration and bike paths is insufficient. Not only is the areaIn the "Green Book", the city of Zurich has set itself a target. Forthe resident population are on average 8 square feet of publiclyaccessible open space available for staff and students 5 squaremeters. This value is low compared to other cities. He is respected inZurich-West, however, says Lukas Handschin, a spokesman for green cityof Zurich. At Pfingstweidstrasse between Toni-Areal and Mobimo Tower,a large park around 12 000 square meters is planned, which should befinished in 2015. Furthermore, according to the result HandschinSchützenwiese the Escher-Wyss-Platz, a new green space, but there isstill no concrete placed your planning. Open spaces stood next to theturbine room at the Joseph area, in Wipkingerpark on the other side ofthe Limmat and the Hardhof available. To the critics it's not just about the sum of the areas, but also auser-friendly design. The CVP has filed three motions in the CityCouncil and collected signatures for a petition in the district. Shewants to transform the place into a turbine system à la Joseph area, which is extremely popular in the neighborhood. Also to be built onthe shooter's area and in the parking lot between Henry and JosephStreet Green Park. The Motionär Schönbächler Marcel likes to tell theanecdote that even one of the architects have signed center of theturbine. If they had known how to develop the district, they wouldhave planned this open space differently, she reportedly said. Theturbine room is now mostly deserted, while competition exists in thesmall, poor children's playground at the Migros "Puls 5" large crowds, says Schönbächler. The City Council rejects the CVP motions and they will only acceptnon-binding form of postulates. "The need for apartment-related openspaces in western Zurich is covered mainly by the private livingenvironment in the various construction sites," he wrote in hisopinion. That may be true in individual cases, but who makes a tour ofthe district observed, especially the opposite: bulky buildings wherelittle attention was paid to the landscaping. The Mobimo Tower, withits luxury apartments surrounded by asphalt and is about a type ofconcrete tank traps, not the smallest green space is pleasing to theeye. It is also Mark Knauss, leader of the Greens is bounded on thecouncil: "Quantitatively, it does not look so bad in the open spaces. But when I look at the design, then will not enjoy that. "On the plansfor the area around the new stadium he wants to cast a critical eyeso.Monika also the Spring Green area lack perceives as "very large". TheSP District Councillor and Co-President of the missing residentsassociation IG Hardturm playgrounds and facilities for ball sports. Inaddition, courts could not substitute for green spaces. The existingrecreational areas today are already overexploited. The population ofZurich West but still growing, and it would also many families, sothat the city planne[...]

U.S. companies want to remain competitive with controversial concept:

Wed, 15 Dec 2010 14:51:00 +0000

Staff reductions is also affecting the IT department 29.11.1985 No Comments Print | Recommend | PDF | Remember | Share buzz NEW YORK (lo) - "That is a real massacre," says General Foods its recent staff cuts in the IT sector. The U.S. trend everywhere: The computer staff now also counts among the victims of austerity measures. Against this concept to support the competitiveness, Ford has gone mobile. DV professional know-how will continue unaffected, however, traded hot.   So far, played a strategic information management for U.S. companies is too important a role in this sector staff cuts even to think. Now seems less rosy future for MLS employees particularly in the fields of heavy equipment, agriculture, power engineering and semiconductor manufacturing in addition to pharmaceutical and chemical industries to be. Exception to this is the high-tech industry, which still continued to grow.   Within weeks, the sister publication "Computer World" were drastic cuts in staff numbers, including CBS, Union Carbide Corp.. and AT & T to monitor information system. "The cuts run not only across industries but also by the organization - into middle management and up to the Vice-President," observed David W. Philippy, president of the Association for System Management in New York. And: "Not only in difficulties companies are reducing operating staff", although here were recorded naturally the most cuts.   On the list of companies that see the layoffs in a tool for competitiveness, is AT & T at the top. There, the staff capacity by 24 000 people will be at 1 January 1986 decreased. This also includes the MIS staff and their management. "Nebeneinanderherlaufende developments," said AT & T Information Systems spokesman Michael N. Granieri, "in the area just lnformation Systems lop we want." General Foods also pruned its MIS inventory of 700 to 560. This "massacre," says an insider from the MIS was top class, while only the first, though by far the hardest.   Robert McKinney, Director of Information Systems at Union Carbide in Danbury, Connecticut, works now with only 100 instead of the current 140 employees. Further cuts are to: MIS workforce will shrink by 28 percent from 500 to 360th Here are then also "revenue-generating" manager concerned.   A similar policy to pursue to remain competitive, including also E. Du Pont I, De Nemours & Co. or Eastman Kodak Co.   Opposite is the personnel movement with banks, financial institutions and insurance companies. There continues to DP staff are hired. Even want to give contra Ford Motor Co. with its corporate policy against this type of competition philosophy. Although it is provided by 1990 the workforce by 20 percent, just the DV sector should not be hit. "We see information processing as a key competitive factor," said Jerry Petersen, Ford's manager for global planning system. Thus the 100 percent automatic storage is desired. In CAD and CAM should continue to invest, will be added to the "white-collar automation" in the office special weight. Computer Integrated Manufacturing (CIM) Ford exaggerate progress on its own assembly plant, for "future success is determined by how far we are using the new technology," notes Peterson.   is currently observed that free jobs in companies that are specifically marked old production methods have become much rarer, "recorded three years ago, we still a demand for 300 IT professionals, today there are only 25," is the comparison of James Fleming, manager at Robert Half Inc. in Houston. The need is for special skills in order to close loopholes such as in technically highly skilled manufacturing systems.   After many middle managers with an annual income to $ 75,000 over one year looking for a new job, walking the first of them may recruiters observe, from the "farming". After finding just for "high-serving" forces an adequate job for the 50 000 dollars [...]

ready mix concrete manufacturing

(image) (image) This report was created for global strategic planners who cannot be content with traditional methods of segmenting world markets. With the advent of a "borderless world", cities become a more important criteria in prioritizing markets, as opposed to regions, continents, or countries. This report covers the top 2000 cities in over 200 countries. It does so by reporting the estimated market size (in terms of latent demand) for each major city of the world. It then ranks these cities and reports them in terms of their size as a percent of the country where they are located, their geographic region (e.g. Africa, Asia, Europe, Middle East, North America, Latin America), and the total world market.

In performing various economic analyses for its clients, I have been occasionally asked to investigate the market potential for various products and services across cities. The purpose of the studies is to understand the density of demand within a country and the extent to which a city might be used as a point of distribution within its region. From an economic perspective, however, a city does not represent a population within rigid geographical boundaries. To an economist or strategic planner, a city represents an area of dominant influence over markets in adjacent areas. This influence varies from one industry to another, but also from one period of time to another.

In what follows, I summarize the economic potential for the world's major cities for "ready-mix concrete manufacturing" for the year 2009. The goal of this report is to report my findings on the real economic potential, or what an economist calls the latent demand, represented by a city when defined as an area of dominant influence. The reader needs to realize that latent demand may or may not represent real sales.

(image) With its accessible approach and streamlined coverage of theory, engineers will quickly learn how to apply the concepts in the eighth edition. The contents have been updated to conform to the 2008 building code of the American Concrete Institute (ACI 318-08). New spreadsheets are included that arm the reader with tools to analyze and design reinforced concrete elements and quickly compare alternative solutions. A new chapter on seismic design explores the issues related to the design of reinforced concrete structures to resist earthquakes. The new materials section also provides engineers with details and examples on how to design shear walls for combined axial load and bending moment.
