The world's first power heated wetsuit

Tue, 09 Feb 2010 17:13:00 +0000

The idea was straightforward. Design and build the world's first power-heated wetsuit. The concept was unique. Rip Curl has made the best surfing wetsuits since 1969, but never before have innovation, technology and science so meticulouslly challenged.

The plan was precise. Research, development, testing and production unrivalled. Succes would open up a new frontier for surfing exploration. Failure was not an option.

The Rip Curl H-Bomb is now a reality. It has conquered the extremes of the Artic Circle. It is backed by oru elite surf team and performance tested by World Champion Mick Fanning.

The H-Bomb use 2 lithium-ion 7,4 volt batteries. Each battery weighs 120g. Batteries are rechargeable. Recharge time is aprox 3 hours to restore full power. The batteries power up heating elements on your back.

The batteries are carried in internal pockets on the lower back, positioned so there's minimal impact on your flexibility.

The temperature of the elements is controlled using 3 settings on the switch.

Fri, 27 Mar 2009 18:16:00 +0000

This instructional video by will show you how to properly clean your regulator after a day of diving. You can keep it clean and in good condition if you rinse it with fresh warm water to remove all the salt. It will also help if you have the ability to attach it back to a tank and blow all the remaining water out. As always, a yearly inspection at your dive shop is needed.

Pee-valve for women

Mon, 24 Nov 2008 18:36:00 +0000

Thanks to better drysuits and cylinder configurations, people are spending more time underwater, and if you keep drinking plenty of liquids, there will come a time when nature calls.

The She-P makes it possible for female (technical) divers to comfortably use a P-valve while diving in a drysuit instead of using diapers.

The She-P is a soft silicone device featuring a reservoir with ‘output’ tube, that has flexible ‘wings’ that are designed to be adhered to the skin with a medical adhesive intended for use with prosthetic devices. This results in a proper seal and comfortable urinating.

The price is 84 € for a She-P and 278 € for the complet kit.

In this video is all the process of manufacture of the scuba diving tanks that so many times we have loaded to our back. It is a somewhat peculiar process of manufacture and it never is of more knowledge since our diving gear is done, since it allows us to know it more and to understand better his operation.

The video is somewhat long but I personally have found it very interesting.

WASP Injector Knife

Fri, 25 Jul 2008 12:17:00 +0000

Nobody wants to engage in hand-to-hand combat with a dangerous marine predator. These situations, as uncommon as they may be, can occur. Until now, the diver has been extremely vulnerable and defenseless.

The WASP Injection Knife gives you the ability to defend yourself with deadly force and, if nothing else, it gives you peace of mind and increased comfort while reducing diver stress levels.

When you are crawling around inside a shipwreck with your whole world illuminated only as far as your dive light will allow it is nice to know that you are carrying a weapon that can truly protect you.

As divers, we all know what the effects of compressed gas are underwater. Our training teaches us that our lungs would burst from over-inflation if we held our breath and rose to the surface. This principle is key to the effectiveness of the WASP Injection System.

This weapon injects a freezing cold ball of compressed gas, approximately the size of a basketball, at 800psi nearly instantly. The effects of this injection will drop many of the world's largest land predators. The effects of the compressed gas not only cause over-inflation during ascent when used underwater, but also freezes all tissues and organs surrounding the point of injection on land or at sea. When used underwater, the injected gas carries the predator to the surface BEFORE blood is released into the water. Thus giving the diver added protection by diverting other potential predators to the surface.

I think that it's too much dangerous, there are a lot of crazy people that can use for evil things. Here you can see a video demostration.

Private Luxury Submarine

Fri, 07 Dec 2007 17:12:00 +0000

SEAmagine Hydrospace Corporation announces that it has just delivered its latest luxury submarine, the Ocean Pearl submersible, which will be installed on a luxury mega yacht in Europe, named the Amevi Surprise, during the fall this year. The Ocean Pearl submersible represents the latest state of the art technology for underwater exploration specifically designed for the luxury yacht market. This SEAmagine luxury 2-person transparent submersible has a depth rating of 500 feet (153 m) and its transparent spherical cabin offers an unprecedented panoramic view to its occupants. Contacted in 2006 by the luxury yacht Amevi for a small submarine, SEAmagine responded with an enhanced version of its scientific and commercial submersible design with a focus on comfort, safety, and simplicity of operation to ensure a realistic product for the luxury yacht market. In response to the growing demand from the luxury yacht market for luxury submarines, SEAmagine has designed and produced a version of its manned submersibles specifically to complement luxury yachts. This 1-atmosphere submersible offers comfort, safety, and an exceptional field of view to its occupants in a dry environment not affected by water depth pressure or temperature. With over 72 hours of life support, this environmentally friendly electric underwater vehicle meets all the standards of the latest scientific submersibles but with the comfort and luxury of first class seats underwater. All of SEAmagine’s submersible are classed by the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS), meet the regulations of the Cayman Island Shipping Registry. and have a long-standing record of excellence for over 10 years.SEAmagine’s submersibles feature a special design from the more traditional concepts, which make them ideally suited for operation from a yacht.Submersibles tend to be neutrally buoyant vessels and need to be boarded by the occupants while on deck before being hoisted into the water to go diving. Similarly, the submersibles need to be hoisted back on deck for the occupants to disembark. This inherent need of traditional submersible design makes their operation logistically complex, difficult and time consuming. To greatly simplify the operation of a submersible from a yacht, SEAmagine’s design offers a unique patented buoyancy system that permits the small craft not only to submerge but also to float high above the water line. This allows the submersible to be operated as surface vessel and be handled or docked as a regular tender once launched. The advantages of this feature are wide-ranging and immediate: 1) the submersibles are hoisted without occupants on board. Not only is this simpler and safer, it also allows the use of simpler cranes, eliminating the burden of having the cranes “man-rated.” 2) The launching operation can be performed by crewmembers only without the guests being present. Similarly, recovery of the submersible at the end of the day involves the crewmembers only, leaving the guests to revel in the day’s discoveries liberated from such technical operations. 3) Once launched, the submersible remains in the water as a surface vessel and is docked at the dive platform. Passengers simply step into the vessel when the pilot has it ready and step out when the submersible returns to the docking position. This allows multiple dives to be performed without having to struggle with crane launch and recovery operatio[...]
