Re: Introducing Isn’t That Awful, the Podcast

Fri, 02 Feb 2018 10:46:15 -0000

I am ashamed to say that I STILL have not seen Buckaroo Banzai, despite wanting to see it when it hit the theaters. And the observation about James Cameron not knowing that 'I'll be back' would be a thing is spot-on.

This was a fun show to listen to. Looking forward to the next one. And thanks for the DH plug! :)

Re: Album Review: Simple Minds, “Walk Between Worlds”

Thanks! Yeah, I'm a big fan of "Signal", and "Barrowland Star."

Re: Radio City with Jon Grayson and Rob Ross: Episode Six (A Magic Number)

Thu, 06 Apr 2017 11:04:23 -0000

For what it's worth, I was profoundly disappointed with T2 Trainspotting. Two characters shoot up heroin just once, for old time's sake. Because that's how heroin works. Jesus.

I really dig that Blonde Redhead snippet you played. Will definitely be looking into that.

Re: Dizzy Heights #12: Marry Her, and Soon

Fri, 24 Mar 2017 18:02:31 -0000

Aww, thank you! There will be much more Ben and Tracey in the future.

Re: Radio City with Jon Grayson and Rob Ross: Episode Four (Oh, Baby, Ooh-Ooh-Oooohh)

Wed, 22 Mar 2017 15:10:18 -0000

I saw that Iron Maiden/Twisted Sister tour, too! Good times.

Re: Dizzy Heights #10: Tightrope of Weird

Thu, 09 Mar 2017 21:27:38 -0000

No, not TO your name. I meant IN your name, as in the songs I play next week. It's basically Club Prog.

Re: Radio City with Jon Grayson and Rob Ross: Episode Two

Thu, 09 Mar 2017 13:03:57 -0000

Listening to this show is a weekly reminder that Rob Ross has forgotten more about music than I will ever know. And I'm strangely fine with that.

Re: Dizzy Heights #10: Tightrope of Weird

Thu, 09 Mar 2017 13:00:21 -0000

It does indeed, and what I did in your name is just ridiculous, bordering on sacrilege.

Re: Dizzy Heights #9: We’re Not Superstars

Thu, 02 Mar 2017 19:03:31 -0000

Thanks, Ted! Funny you should mention that, I was already thinking of doing something along those lines. :)

Re: No Concessions: My Oscar Ballot, 2017 Edition

Mon, 27 Feb 2017 00:38:59 -0000

Thanks to you, I won my Oscar party. Well done, sir.

Re: The Popdose Interview: Thomas Walsh from Pugwash

Fri, 24 Feb 2017 10:34:39 -0000

This was a great read. He's basically living the life I wanted to live. The Lewisohn book, Jason Falkner, Neil Hannon, Jeff Lynne..I can relate to this man.

Re: Dizzy Heights #5: Run for Cover

Sun, 05 Feb 2017 16:31:42 -0000

Thank you! I was really happy with how this one turned out.

Re: In:Sound, Ep. 1: Chart Attack! Hot Rap Tracks: March 11, 1989

Wed, 01 Feb 2017 13:47:29 -0000

I have yet to hear a Too $hort track that didn't make me think he was anything less than awful. And man, did I love hearing that Rob Base track again. Fun stuff, gentlemen.

Re: The Twentieth Day of Mellowmas: Greatest Mellowmas Hits — Tutoned

Mon, 21 Dec 2015 12:46:00 -0000

Awesome. I was telling the wife about this, and now I can play the whole thing for her. Pray for me.

Re: The Tenth Day of Mellowmas: Mellowmas Makes Me Skeevy

Thu, 10 Dec 2015 10:30:30 -0000

For the sake of the musicians, I hope they were long gone before they knew what was going to be sung on top of their work, because FOR FUCK'S SAKE PEOPLE.

Re: The Ninth Day of Mellowmas: Greatest Mellowmas Hits — Worst Kwanzaa Ever

Wed, 09 Dec 2015 18:26:59 -0000

That is without question the most racist song I've ever heard.

Re: The Eighth Day of Mellowmas: Lost Mellowmas — Sensitive Medeirosmas

Tue, 08 Dec 2015 13:36:05 -0000

Yesterday's was still worse.

Re: The Seventh Day of Mellowmas: Crazy Train

Mon, 07 Dec 2015 11:38:27 -0000

I love when the sleigh bells just cut off. 'Ring, ring, ri-' (Hansen presses Off button on laptop).

Re: Popdose Prime: The Eight Worst-Ever Pieces of Rock Merch

Fri, 30 May 2014 16:35:11 -0000

Ha ha ha ha ha!

Re: CD Review: Art Decade, “Art Decade”

Fri, 28 Feb 2014 14:01:10 -0000

Agreed. I used it because there wasn't a link for "Need You Yesterday."

Re: The Weekly Mixtape: End of the World Edition

Sat, 22 Dec 2012 00:34:07 -0000

Believe me, my mind was racing with ideas for a follow-up playlist. I just didn't have the time to put it together, pardon the pun.

Re: The Eighteenth Day of Mellowmas: Mellowmas Time Without Dignity

Tue, 18 Dec 2012 11:11:43 -0000

Whatever it is, it's flat. Much like Jefito, I could hear nothing else after Jason pointed it out. Na na naaaa...ugh.

Re: World’s Worst Songs: Dan Fogelberg’s “Same Old Lang Syne”

Wed, 05 Dec 2012 12:57:24 -0000

You had me at the picture of macaroni and cheese. And the Lego video.

Re: World’s Worst Songs: “Batdance” by Prince

Wed, 31 Oct 2012 00:46:08 -0000

Only the slower part in the middle, with the Nile Rodgers scratch guitar, is worth a damn, and even that is a crapshoot. This is one of those instances where the anticipation for the movie clouded people's judgment over the single, because you're right - it's bad, hence the joke at its expense in "Shaun of the Dead."

Re: World’s Worst Songs: “Finally Getting Up From Rock Bottom”

Thu, 18 Oct 2012 00:04:38 -0000

Wow, even the Auto-Tune seemed to be saying, "Fuck you, I want nothing to do with this." It was at war with the vocal from word one. Yuck.
