NPTA Hires World's Largest Indp. PR Firm

Fri, 20 Apr 2007 15:00:00 GMT

Houston, Texas, April 20, 2007 – The National Pharmacy Technician Association (NPTA) announced today that they hired Edelman, the World's largest independent PR firm, to manage a new public relations and professional advocacy campaign regarding mandatory, standardized training and education for pharmacy technicians.

NPTA has taken a strong position that individuals should be required to complete a standardized education/training program, pass a validated competency-based exam and be registered with their State Board of Pharmacy, in order to practice as a pharmacy technician.

"The industry must consider standardized education for pharmacy technicians if pharmacy is to remain one of the nation's most trusted professions," concludes Mike Johnston, Chairman & CEO of NPTA.

NPTA intends on working with the State Boards of Pharmacy, employers, pharmacy associations, accrediting agencies, educators and practitioners to further discuss and promote the regulation of standardized pharmacy technician training and education.
