When I bought a car with CD player only, thus making my extensive cassette collection obsolete, I did not feel compelled to reproduce it in updated form. WRUR FM is the reason. An amazing variety of music, spanning genres and decades, and no idiot DJs or promos. It's local.....88.5, but I even think it streams online WRUR.org, in the event you oneday upgrade your computer.

Hi Mysti,

Thanks for the hug, that is very sweet. And thanks for the e-mail, I might be contacting you.

I guess I'm looking for a CD since I'm low tech. I have a very old computer with dial-up, and it takes 12 minutes to download a 3 minute song on YouTube. I greatly miss YouTube, but needed to cut back on my expenses. So I'm looking for CD ideas.

Hi S'onnie,

Wow, your taste in music is eclectic! I like classical music too. I was raised on it. My favorites are Mozart, Chopin, and Scheherazade by Rimsky-Korsakov. But I'm looking for something with edifying lyrics.

Oh wow, i love music, i listen to it nonstop especially if i am depressed. However because i have a problem with memory at times due to fibromyalgia i can never seem to remember who sings what songs or song titles. I had a friend of mine who loved to play music in yahoo chat rooms make me some cds. I then put them onto my mp3 player and listen now to 100s of songs. :)

I love soft rock, the oldies but goodies. So songs like lean on me, drift away, Honey Bunch, Spirit in the sky, Can't you see, are all songs i tend to listen to over and over. If you want to email me at season_for_angels@yahoo.com, i will see if i can look on my mp3 player and find some songs for you to listen to. You can type in the song and listen to it on youtube btw. :)

Music is something i very much connect with. It helped me all through some very tough times. So i can relate.

Hope you feel better soon.

Sending you a hug.

I have very eclectic taste in Music. One of my majors while at Uni was Music. I just got the flight of the conchords cd which is really quirky. I also enjoy Bic Runga which is another Kiwi Musician. I have quite a lot of jazz and blues and also a large selection of classical. Favorite classical at the moment is Rachmaninov

Hi dcr,

Yes, listening to the oldies is like eating comfort food to me. But sometimes I need a bit more, lyric that are uplifting. Finding a CD that is uplifting is difficult.

I typically enjoy music from when I was in high school--even the stuff I didn't listen to when I was in high school.

I find stuff that you heard when you were younger to be uplifting. Lyrics don't always matter, as it's the sound and not the particular words I listen to.

Of course, that doesn't mean I listen to anything where the lyrics are specifically "bad" per se. What I mean is, it's easy to not hear lyrics that may tell a story that might not be uplifting because you're not paying close attention to what's being said. But, when the words overpower the music, and you can't not hear the lyrics, then that's different entirely, and I wouldn't likely find that music uplifting.

I mean, in other words, if a song is about loss, but that loss is told through a story that you could not really be following if you're not paying attention to the lyrics, then that could still be uplifting because of the tone and type of music. But, if the lyrics are "Die! Die! Die!" or "[bleep] [bleep] [bleep]" or something, that's going to be hard to ignore and hard to find uplifting, because you can't help but notice the words!

Hi LadyBanana,

I'm low tech. I don't own an iPod, or anything similar. I just bought a CD player a year, or two ago because my record player broke. My computer is slow, so can't listen to much music on it. I guess it would have to get a CD. Yes, I'm living in the stone age! LOL

I have so much music collected over the years, some legally and some not..lol But I have a 60gig iPod and it's full to the brim so I have plenty of choice..

To cheer me up, hmm that's difficult as it depends on why I'm down or how down I really am..

I think instead of any particular artist it would be particular tracks that help.. and I'm not sure I actually know of any that fits quite what you're looking for..
