Dim Sum'ing In A Small Town Called Teluk Anson

2008-11-10T21:44:01.848+08:00

(image)

This is the place where I grow up used to call Teluk Anson and now, Teluk Intan. It is one of the well known small town in Perak. Coming back home I rediscovered this Dim Sum shop called Tuck Kee and looked very modernised Dim Sum shop just like what you can find in the KL.

(image)

A well renovated shop to suit the modernisation of time with a wee bit of rustic look, the deco was really one of the pulling factor that I visited this place.

(image)

Look this is a cute steam dim sum trolley to keep the dim sum warm and fresh.

(image)

The Loh Mai Kai was incredible good and I end up take away 10 of this and had them deep freeze at home. This is a way to enjoy something at home by reheating them in the microwave oven.

(image)

The Har Kau was tasty too, just suited my liking, perfectly done.

(image)

Tender and crunchy fish balls! well cooked to perfection.

(image)

Oh, I was playing eye with the boa! How can I resist such a lovely fluffy bao and the awesome delicious fillings.

(image)

Look I am telling you the truth! just tasted deliciously and I had 10 of them packed for home to be deep freezing. Just love it and to be enjoyed. So if you do drop by Teluk Anson my hometown don't forget to drop by Tuck Kee for Dim Sum and Tuck Kee is located in the town centre . . . yours Sunny Yaw

Superb Ice Flower Dumplings

2008-10-04T20:15:49.729+08:00

(image)

We got to know about this dumpling place through Jennifer at Damansara Utama. The name of the reataurant is Ice-Flower Dumpling Restaurant, a restaurant that serve typical chinese cuisine and their specialty is dumplings. The restaurant offers a wide range of snacks such as ice flower dumpling, steamed dumplings, small cage dumplings, northeast meat pie, fellow wu cake, peral flour soup with seafood, smoked meat and flat cakes.

(image)

We arrived at the restaurant at about 4o'clock in the afternoon and decided to have some snack rather heavy dishes. So we ordered a ice-flower with 8 dumplings, northeast meat pie and small cage dummplings (Siew Long Pau)

(image)

The ice-flower dumplings were so pretty presented over a thin layer of rice pancake. The dumplings were at the right size, not too big and were moist and delicious.

(image)

(image)

The northeast meat pie was a surprise to us as we did not imagine to be that delicious. The pastry was well fried to the right crispiness, the fillings was plenty and tasted awesomely good.

(image)

(image)

The small cage dumplings were less moist as we expected to savour the soup incase inside the dumplings, the skin was at the right thickness and soft.

(image)

Overall we adored the dumplings that offered by this restaurant and i would be back for dumpling snacks at this restaurant. . . . SidneyK

My close friend Jennifer had took me to this Pan Mee place located at Taman Kepong. This cofee shop located just behind the King's Bakery which located at Lorong Bangau 2. The Pan Mee was superb delicious and it is make of roughly blended celery leaves or spinach leaves. This Pan Mee shop is called Vegetable Pan Mee and was establish since 2001. We were very lucky as we were in troduced to Uncle Wilson the owner of the stall. He showed us how the pan mee was make from flour till a bowl of lovely Pam Mee.A bowl of this Pan Mee is only RM3.80 and you can have it dry with black sauce or with soup. It comes with fish paste, fried soya bean skin and loads of celery leaves or green spinach. L like the texture of the Pan Mee, tender, soft, tasty and not too hard. The best part of it you can have either in a form of fine strings of pasta or in the shape of rectangular pieces of pasta. Each bowl is served with loads of fresh celery leaves which makes the noodle delicious and fregrant. After being explained the making of Pan Mee and enjoyed a full bowl of Pan Mee by Uncle Wilson, it was so satisfying and I will defintely be back for more which I did . . . . . SidneyK[...]

A Grand Vegetarian Dining

2008-07-14T01:56:22.783+08:00

We had been to one branch of Nature's Vegetarian Restaurant before and were very impressed with the food served. The last time, we were invited by our vegetarian friends from Klang to have a Chinese New Year dim sum dinner with them. That dinner was incredible awesome and even now I still have those fresh flashing memory of the food I had. This time we got the chance to try out their main outlet at Bangsar, flushed along the famous Jalan Telawi. As we stepped into this restaurant, I was totally impressed with the deco, the place was filled with beautiful and elegant rosewood tables and chairs with beautifully embedded designs crafted with the mother of pearl. I felt I was in a Chinese emperor’s dining room. Not only that, the place was filled with beautiful Chinese sculptures and was place elegantly.Once we were at our table, we were served with a pot of fragrant Chinese tea, deliciously crunchy seaweed crackers and juicy sliced pineapple topped with satay sauce. This time we wanted to have something simple, more homely type of dinner and we ordered a few vegetarian dishes. We ordered Hong Kong vegetarian meat “char siew”, curry mutton with bread, sweet & sour meat, steam silky tofu with melon, house special noodle “chew pai mein” and Cantonese style “yeng yong” noodle. The vegetarian ‘char siew’ was really good, at the right sweetness and just taste like real meat but would prefer a larger cut. Both noodle dishes were tasty and full of “wok hei”, a thumb up to the chef (Chef Ong)! Look at our feast of the day!The sauce of the sweet and sour dish was delicious as the taste was well spot on, the meat was tasty too, good combination. I also adore the crispiness of the soya meat used in this dish. The curry mutton was really good and texture of the soya meat was really good and the curry sauce really complimented the dish.Next the tofu melon dish, the tofu was silky and the melon was well cooked, soft and juicy. The dish was tasty with the delicious light brown sauce.By the time when we were about to finish the feast, Mr Alex Ong the owner insisted we try some dim sum and he ordered curry bun, “mut jup char siew bao”, “kum kwai ko” and “fong wor woo kok”. The “char siew bao” was good, the dough was soft, fluffy and the delicious “char siew” sauce just melts in your mouth. The “ woo kok” was so crispy indeed and the fillings was awesomely delicious. The curry bun was good too, very soft bun texture. The “kum kwai ko” was nice filled with lotus paste.I got to say this is a very inspired vegetarian delight and with a huge range of dishes that will tickle your taste bud. I will definitely be back for more.Nature's Vegetarian RestaurantNo. 24, Jalan Telawi 3,Bangsar Baru,59000 Kuala Lumpur.No. 6, Jalan 31/70A,Desa Sri Hartamas,50480 Kuala Lumpur.[...]

An ENTRANZE into A Real Japanese Fusion

2008-06-24T02:25:55.626+08:00

HAVING TO INDULGE THE FOOD AT ENTRANZEWe were back again at Entranze for a full lunch, this time we make sure we ordered our food from their menu so that we were able to taste those spoke about dishes. The first thing I ordered was their Grilled Salmon Fish Head with Teriyaki Sauce. I loved this particular part of the fish especially those, Salmon and Garupa. The Salmon fish head served was awesome, no fishy smell, and yet the texture of the meat was firm and went well to my liking. The grilling was perfectly done and sure able to taste the present of sake and black pepper, so well marinated. While pricking into the fish with the pair of chopstick and dipping it into the terriyaki was such an awesome experience, it just melted in my mouth with the unique taste of the terriyaki.Next came this dish called Gyu Shoga Yaki (Pan Fried Beef with ginger sauce with japanese onions). The beef was thinly sliced and stir fried. The taste was good, simple and with an influence of Chinese. We also had pan fried chicken with chef's special made sauce. It was gorgeous but I got to say I was so into their side salad as it was very awesome delicious.Yet another well prepared yasai tempura (vegetable tempura). The vegetables were deep fried till crispy and sure had won my heart, we just can't get enought of it.Gosh I spotted this . . . yuzu liqueur, it was awesome, low in alcohol but the taste of yuzu was not as strong as I would prefer but still taste fantastic. These homemade ice creams were a real knocked out, they were such a babe, there were Ms Kurogoma(black sesame), Ms Shirogoma(white sesame), Ms Matcha(greentea) and Ms Wasabi. They tasted soft, creamy, less sweet and something I would love to take home.Wow! We get the chance to meet up and chit chat with the Chef himself who had prepared our lunch, it was an honour, thank you Chef Tony Wee of Entranze. This is a place I will be back for more![...]

A Fusion Chic, Newbie in Town

2008-06-16T19:20:10.555+08:00

On the 7th of June, it was the Opening of Entranze which offered a range of japanese fusion cuisine located at Sunway Damansara, Kota Damansara. The shop front looked very modern and slick which really had caught my attention.Red ribbons and scissors were readily for the cutting ceremony. It was a closed affair where relatives and friends were invited . . . so were we. The interior was simple but very modern and comfortable. This Chuka Lidako(Baby Octopus) looked so deliciously red. I was so attracted to it that I wanted to use my fingers to have a piece! Then next to it was this Chuka Kuraage(Seasoned Jelly Fish) which was awesomely good. Not far was Chuka Hotate(Seasoned Sliced Scallops) which was well prepared ready to be eaten.Potato Salad looked impressive too. I love the bright yellow colours and looked so refreshingly good.Well I got to say I find this dish with a very funny name, Dancing Prawn, Looked cool tho!Deep Fried Seafood Tofu was on the menu too, fried till golden brown and top with some cream.Abuc Boza Teriyaki(Pan Fried Battle Fish with Terriyaki Sauce) was well arranged on the serving platter.Tori Karaage looked good too.Garlic Fried Rice, was fragrant too!At the end of the serving table, there were a variety of cut fruits readily to be eaten. Dine with Pleasure

2008-06-16T18:10:14.817+08:00

This restaurant CUBES, caught my eyes when I was at Palm Square Jaya One, Petaling Jaya when I was meeting some of my friends over a late night coffee at one of the Kopitiam there. I also noticed there were a few new eatery places mushrooming at this location so I decided to have at try at this restaurant first, a fusion chinese fine dining. The setting of this restaurant was very comfortable and atmosphere was very relaxing plus there was also a wine bar, got to say I love my wine too.I always love braised peanuts in soya sauce as there are soft, nutty and fragrant plus not forgetting my hot shrimp chilly. Our first order was the crispy aromatic duck served with soft pancakes. Got to confess that I had not eaten such a dish since I came back from Scotalnd which was about nearly 8 years ago. "Oh! boy" It was one of my favourite dishes and I tried to learn how to make it at home but got to say mine was not as compartible with the chefs. The duck was well cooked till it was fragrant when it was deep fried. The meat was moist and not too dried. The meat was shredded and placed onto the pancake before wrapping, together garnished with deliciously "Hoi Sin" sauce and sliced cucumber plus spring onion. The next tofu dish was authentic awesome. The beancurd tofu itself was infused with cooked greens. The dish was garnished with steamed melon and top with dried scallop and double boiled chicken broth sauce. The dished appeared infront of us was our roasted spare ribs. This dish was so delicious as it came with two different coated sauces, honey glazed and button mushroom in black peppered sauce. Both were very unique and tasted incredible, a thumbs up to the chef's creativeness and also the well balance taste.Next we ordered the Portugese Prawns. I was informed that the dish was influenced by the chef's wife who happened to be from Portugal. The prawns were well battered and crispy while the sauce really complimented the dish well. The last dish that came was a great mixture of stir fried mushrooms. It was delicious and so desirable. We had a great nite dinning at the CUBES and will defintely be back for . . . crispy aromatic duck, by the way I away wrapped my pduck pancakes with extra hot dried prawn chillies! . . . Having A Very Technical Dinner Makes A Full of WondersMeeting the chef was one thing, having the chef to cook in front of us wass superb! That was what I had experience last night's dinner held at The Pacifica, Grill & Bar of Mandarin Oriental Hotel, Kuala Lumpur. Well, Chef Jeff Ramsey, the expert of molecular madness and was flown in from 38th floor, the Mandarin Oriental Tokyo located at the Nihonbashi Mitsui Tower. So here is my most enjoyable and an eye opening dinner.Opening Aperitif, Pecorino Puff, Olive CloudA lovely shot of beer with yakult foam, sweet on top, smooth at the end. I like the puff which make from rice flour and cheese cooked in a microwave, crunchy and very flavoured. The olive foam was very light and interesting, just had that feeling of being in a light diet meal.Scallop with Pumpkin Sorbet, Red and Tommy ThaiThe scallops were so well seasoned and cooked with herbs and spices and having together with a cold pumpkin was delicious and unimagineable. In Red, we had lobster meat and peppers, nice and unique!Tommy Thai yet another example of high tech fine dining, prawn meat wrapper in tom yam gelatine, topped with deep fired prawnhead and garnished with peanut and coconut powder. A real signature dish by itself.Strawberry and Pesto Spaghetti, Lobster Potato Vanilla and Cucumber SaladThis shaghetti dish was unique, replacing tomato with strawberry looks scary and unthinkable but it was unbelieveable delicious when they were mixed together. Tasted gorgeous. The potato vanilla looked like baby food but oh boy! you can send all to my kitchen. I was so lovely, soft and creamy. The lobster meat was done beautifully. This time we were served with cucumber caviar instead of carrot caviar, it was lovely as the texture taste similar to the real caviar.Chef Ramsey in action!Juicy Lamb, Gazpacho, Unagi Pineapple MisoI had eaten "Xiu Long Bao" where juicy burst out from the "bao" when you bite into it but never ever ate a piece lamb with bursting juice similar to "Xiu Long Bao". Chef Jeff Ramsey told me that the preparing concept is similar to "Xiu Long Bao" where the juice is concealed inside the meat and sealed with meat glue, wow! The cold Gazpacho soup was really delicious using dripping white tomato juicy,a piece of watermelon top over with frozen olive was really spectacular. Well arranged sliced of unagi and pineapple with miso and avacado were deliciously prepared.Charcoal and Truffle Beef, Miso Soup, Seabass and SoyamilkThis charcoal beef was so delicious, charcoal infused oil was used! Believe it or not, Miso soup incapsuled in a miso jelly, incredible . . . makes me wonder how they do it! Seabass and asparagus cooked in soyamilk came in smoke was an impressive dish!Caramelized Quail, Blueberries and Laudrel, Saffron Cocoa Capsule, Rasberry and Black Pepper, NY Cheesecake, Areo Choco, Rosemary GummyCaramelized quail came with a bed of couliflower cous-cous over green pea broth was so well executed, very well favoured dish. Blueberries jelly like was so rich and juicy. The capsule sweetness gave a kicked taste of saffron . Aero was so light and delicious. Rosemary gummy was really gummy with full of taste. The cheesecake was light too.Miracle Fruit & Fruit CourseWe finished out dinner with a plate of citrus fruits such as lime, lemon, passionfruit, kiwi, grapefruit and plum. What do they have in common? They were real sour citrus fruits. In this last dessert Chef Jeff Ramsey had introduced us to miracle fruit. We ate this miracle fruit first before we continued with the citrus. Wow! those citrus fruits were so del[...]

Trendy, Slick & Adorable . . . A New Place to Dine

2008-05-28T00:26:09.730+08:00

Together with Sunny, Jennifer and myself, we headed to FLAVORS, Swiss-Garden Kuala Lumpur, a new restaurant situated in the heart of the city. It is a new restaurant located inside of the Swiss Garden Hotel, with a very trendy look, slick and modern setting, got to say it is very appealing to me, was attracted to the deco colours of this restaurant.I love the simplicity of the table setting and coloured pillows were used. The wall was laminated with beautifully wood panel and the lightings really set the ambient of the restaurant. As we sat down, we were served with this lovely bread, crusty on the outside so soft in the inside and what make it so tasty was the tasty texture of the bread itself, it tasted a bit similar to bagels. Well I ate two of this gorgeous bread for sure and used it to wipe clean most of the sauce left on my plates, I am sure you will know this is a piece of luxury to me!First we had the Swiss-Garden's Caeser Salad which was very fresh and I adored the parmesan cheese basket which was very tasty and went very well with the salad. The caeser dressing was very well spot on, a very refreshing salad.Tom's Soup is something simple but came with a twist. It may looked like a normal tomato soup but it had a great aroma and tangy taste of tom yam, I really love it and I had it with my bread. Then came our main course with a great surprise, and it was called The Neptune's Catch, a red snapper dish that came with a two combination of taste, tom yam and mixed herbs. I got to say this dish came with a surprise as it finished off with a perchik delight. Compliment to the chef for brilliantly stacking up the plate with the panfried fish fillets and potato wedges. I really love the way how the chef played with the ingredients and embedded the local taste and flavours, a true desire dish.We got to say that that night we were lucky as we got to taste two additional dishes from the chef, the first one was De Chop, a New Zealand prime lamb chops deepfried with coated breadcrumbs, was well marinated and well presented, tastes good but was a bit dried.Oh this snapper fillet paupiettes is lovely indeed. I came to realise that paupiette is a cooking process where by a thin sliced of fish is wrapped around a forcemeat, love creation. I really like this dish as the chef used white fish wrapped around the salmon so beautifully. We ended the night with a chocolat dessert with fresh cut fruits.I really like this place as I really enjoyed the dinner, a very pleasant restaurant, new, chick and gorgeous, definitely a place to dine and even for a quick business lunch . . . . Healthy Living, Healthy Eating

2008-05-25T23:20:45.829+08:00

These days more and more of us are getting aware about our health and have become more conscious on what we consumer. Therefore healthy living by healthy eating is one way to stay in good shape and by going organic it is a must! Organic Life Café is the place to be when it comes to healthy eating. The food served here is awesomely delicious, unique and creative, something I never thought of having and also organic. They sell organic products too at the end corner of the café which I find them unique and so convenient. As the day was hot and dry, in order to kill my thirst, I had a glass of Red Surprise fruit juice (beetroot, apple and pineapple) which was so delicious, unique and good for blood circulation. Next is the bright orangy pineapple juice which is good for digestion. I also managed to sip into the delicious wheat grass, apple and lemon mixed juice which is good for detoxing. All for the sudden I was getting excited for the food that was coming! Now I got to recommend you this dish, so amazing and so beautiful, it is the Hor Fun Roll. It is a flat rice noodle and seaweed roll up stuffed with vegetable served with special home made chilli sauce. The roll was roll up so excellently and I know I can’t roll the way they roll them.I always have this passion of having beancurd sushi (a japanese beancurd stuffed with japanese rice) and I find it here too but presented in a very different way, they called it “Foo Chok” sushi roll. Yes, very unique with a twist, beancurd pockets stuffed with rice, sweet corn, shredded carrot, pineapple, bean sprouts and a homemade pineapple sauce. It is so likeable and I am definitely a fan of this one!Next came the golden basket, a simple lightly fried potato basket with diced capsicum, water chestnuts, cashew nuts, mushroom, konnyaku and baby corn. Tasted good but I was longing for more surprises. One of my favorite is Mee Siam and without fail, I will visit the kopitiam here but I was surprised that I can have it here too. Taste was good and it was the right type of noodle used. I got to say I did wallop all! When I saw the next dish, there was a sparkle on my face. It was the broccoli soup, a soup I end up making when I was abroad studying. It had been ages that I had this and what a relief. Now I got to compare mine and this, well . . . of course mine is always superior but I got to say theirs was not far from mine. Good balance of brocolli taste, creamy and the texture was good.I like this Vietnamese noodle called Sweet and Sour noodle. As you can see there are a lot of great toppings such as shredded vegetables, tofu and also sliced mushroom. The uniqueness lies beneath the toppings, the noodle top with the sweet and sour sauce. We had to mix them all up first before we were able to taste this dish which was so awesomely good. The pineapple fried rice was good too and I like them to be served on the pineapple so tropical like the do it here!Claypot ‘Lui Cha’ set is so authentic, I just can fall in love with it so easily, so fresh, so pure and so different. You can see the beautiful arrangement and the unique colours of assorted vegetables and you eat it together with the warm herbal soup.We end the day with the Viet Spring roll-ups which caught me by surprise. They are so finely roll and so skillful as you can’t see any flawless. This dish consists of delicate rice wrappers filled with vermicelli, lettuce, carrots, cucumber and mint leaves.Organic Life café is a place to be, the food served here is unique with a delicate taste that su[...]

Pure, Simple and Authentic Teochew

2008-05-21T09:58:30.221+08:00

We were glad to have attended a weekend lunch invited by FoodStreet at Lai Po Heen Restaurant, located at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel, Kuala Lumpur. Lai Po Heen is famous for their classic Cantonese cuisine with seafood and dim sum. The entrance to the restaurant was simple but the inside, the interior decor was beautiful and elegant. We were told that the décor is based on the grand ancestral homes of Chinese-Malaysian tycoons from the turn of the century and there are Asian artifacts and ornate chandeliers. This restaurant had an open concept kitchen where diners can to enjoy watching the culinary skills of the master chefs over the flaming woks. The setting of the dining tables was very noticeable due to the beautiful, elegant and slick black and white tablewares, a classic way to dine.We were ushered to one of the exquisite private rooms where the lunch was servedThe lunch served was a Teochew cuisine, as it was part of the Teochew cooking class package that we had attended the same day. Firstly we were served with Teochew appetizer which consist of a variety of combination such as diced braised beef with five spices which was tasty and fragrant, lovely sweetened lotus seeds with red dates, crunchy sweet marinated cucumbers with carrots and diced galangga Teochew salted vegetable.‘A simple thick soup yet so deliciously done’ was how the Tai Chi Soup was done. The soup consisted of two different broths, the spinach leaves and chicken to form the Tai Chi design. The soup was beautifully done, tasty and I would definitely recommend.Having cold cut meat was something very common but having cold cut seasonal sea fish Teochew style was something new to me. We were served a whole garupa fish and the fish was beautifully deboned by the well trained waitress. The fish was served with marinated the Teochew beans which were full of flavoring and absolutely beautiful to indulge with.Next came the sautéed beef with kalian and BBQ sauce, the kalian was cooked in such a perfection that it tasted sweet and crunchy and what more to ask when it was topped with beautiful sautéed sliced beef. The sautéed chicken fillet with herbs and pearl vegetable leaf was done very tasty to my liking. The sauce used synchronizes so well with the fillet and tasted so fragrant, must be herbs used.Next we had three different steamed types of steamed dim sum, green chives dumplings which were tasty, sweet green pea dumplings and rat shaped dumplings.Oh boy! Oh boy. Ain’t there a story to tell, falling in love with Teochew porridge always tickled me and so does this braised fragrant rice with cod fish and preserved vegetables in broth. The Teochew always prepared porridge with whole grain rice and this dish was done that way. It was absolutely good as the broth was tasty and topped with cod fish and well balance preserved vegetables plus little “bak choy”.The Teochew fried oyster was good, it was beautifully done and was very freshness, some how the Teochew does it better.Chinese desserts had never fail to tempt me so was the warm yam pudding with gingko nuts and red dates. The yam pudding was creamy and was at the right sweetness that I preferred.Lastly we were tempted to have this durian cream wrapped in pancake. This type of pancake is highly sorted for in Kuala Lumpur because of it’s taste and texture. Lai Po Heen’s durian pancakes were so delicious, the pancake skin was light and thin and the durian cream was creamy and filled with real durian, it is awesome as I had more[...]

CREATIVE & INNOVATIVE PASTA DISHES ARE IN TOWN NOW

2008-05-18T17:38:36.979+08:00

PASTA de GOHAN @ SUNWAY PYRAMID SHOPPING MALLThis week we managed to make a dinner date appointment with four lovely ladies, Christine, Ah Wei and Citygal. It was a get together dinner before Christine's departure to Glasgow early June to continuing her final year studies. We picked this new pasta outlet because it was serving 72 different types of pasta dishes. This place do give a great bright feeling and decorated with beautifully plastic replicas of their dishes.Lobster Carbonara served in japanese style original cream sauce was a smashing dish by itself indeed as it came with a half lobster. The lobster was very well cooked and presented and goes so well with the pasta. It is a dish to be on your order list as it is only RM36.80(US11.00).Bacon Carbonara tasted delicious, that is how I would like my carbonara to be, sauce not to thick and tasty. The appearance of this dish is incrediblely cool as it was topped with a half boiled egg and also strips of well fried bacons.Fettuccini al Nero de Sepia, I would say awesome! Fettuccini sevred with squid and black squid ink sauce was very unique and taste delicious as the sauce was very thick, as how people would describe local coffee, "KAO". The aroma of black squid ink from this paste was adorable and rich.Prawn and Octopus Spaghetti in basil sauce rocks as you can taste the aroma of the basil and yet not too strong and over powering.Eel and Egg Spaghetti is good too but I only managed to taste the pasta as all the eel when missing. lol! I guess the eel must be good.Katsu Tamatoji is a lovely dish and I adored the fried breaded pork cutlet as it was very tasty and paired very well with the pasta. We ordered a spicy cod roe and potato pizza and the pizza dough was very refined, thin and crispy. I got to say I also seek for crispy pizza but I have never ever come across such thin and crispy pizza. It was really my liking but I guess it was a bit small, prefer it to be bigger.Doria with Scallop and Chicken is a dish very similar to the cheese bake rice. I find this dish very tasty but do lack of sauce and dry.The ladies took charge in ordering the desserts and we end up having delicious Macha Azuki Parfait, melting Ichiga-Milk Parfait, awesome Tiramisu Parfiat, lovely Oreo Banana Parfait and Shiratama Macha Monaka Ice Cream. Overal the dessert was fantastic, soft, creamy and not too overly sweet. This is a pasta outlet that I will be coming back for more!Yours SidneyPasta de GohanLot LG 2.126A,Sunway Pyramid Shopping MallNo 3. Dancing with Enoki

2008-12-10T15:14:37.380+08:00

Having a superb dinner, then get to sit down and chit chat with the master chef who had prepared the food for you is really awesome. It is a real dream come true for us, something you don’t get to do often. This opportunity we had when we visited and dine at Opulent Court, Pearl International Hotel recently. Our food was prepared by Master Chef Low who have been working around the globe such as Amsterdam and London on chinese cuisine and fine dining for nearly 15years and had been a 4years resident chef at Opulent Court. We kicked off with a few light starters, firstly we got to nibble the salmon thin rolls (hosomakli-zushi) topped with awesomely flying fish roe (yew chi sal mun yue kuen). The taste of rolls were so refine, Sunny just can’t have enough off them. I would say the sushi rice was cooked and seasoned to perfection.Oh my goodness, next came this black peppered jellyfish top with sliced abalone (hak chew pau see hoi jik). I got to be frank with you that I am a real die hard fan for not the abalone but surprisingly the jellyfish. You may ask me, why? Well, I love to bite into them especially for it’s crunchiness texture. This was done so perfectly, but there were not enough to satisfy myself and my desire but I noticed the abalone had disappeared so fast, must be my other dinner guests.Next we dished into this lovely deep fried prawn paste wrapped with shredded filo pastry (long see shin har kuen). I have yet to taste such crispy wrapped before and this was done accurately. The prawn paste was very well seasoned indeed but being myself, a greedy idiot, I prefer it with the XXL prawns instead, lol!.I got to recommend this dish, it was so beautiful done and cooked to such a perfection, lovely and a dish I will not forget! It was enoki mushroom, carrot and celery wrapper with smoke bacon coated with delicious brown sauce (yin yok sow choi huen).Deep Fried Softcrab with salad cream (sa lut thai sek yuen hai) was delicious and crispy. The softcrab was well seasoned and fried to perfection. I can just eat the whole softcrab by itself! So amazing! What we had for our main? Well, let me tell you this . . . , we had two huge thick slices of cod fish. As far as I can remember, I always had cod fish for dinner and that was when I was staying in Scotland and cod fish was plentiful, I was so lucky to have them as back here, I would considered them expensive and a luxury. Chef Low had our cod fish baked and with honey sauce coating (mut jup ko sut yue). The fish was baked to perfection as I love the crunchiness of the outer layer and with the honey sauce, it was totally perfect. We had a simple vegetable dish, kai lan topped with deep fried shredded fish fillet (long see kai lan choy). Simple and yet delicious enough to satisfied my hunger. We also dished into some fried rice top with small anchovies which was good and tasty. At the end of the meal, Chef Low came to our table to meet us and we had a great chat about food, experience, recipes and something that I will definitely not share with you!It was a great night out and this is a place I would highly recommend and I am sure you might see me there too!Promotion:ALL YOU CAN EAT DIM SUMTotal of 80 types of Dim Sum to feast from.Adult : RM 27.80++Senior Citizen : RM 23.80++Children : RM 16.80++(minimum 2 persons)BUFFET DINNERStarting from 1st April 2008, you can order any of the 38dishes listed from the menu.Adult : RM 33.80++Senior Citizen : RM 26.80++Chil[...]

Stylish Fusion With Bursting Flavours

2008-04-29T22:37:11.821+08:00

When we arrived at the entrance of this café, we were welcome by this beautifully wood crafted panel with the word D’Fortune, so lovely. The day was lovely, so we decided to have our lunch outside and ordered a few cup of the lite warm lemon tea which was really really good and tasty. Here came the lamb shank, it was tasty, crispy on the outside and meat is so tender and delicious. It came with homemade mashed potato which was smashingly delicious and not from those dried potato flakes which taste horrified. There were also cherry tomatoes, green beans and cauliflower.Oh next came the heavenly tortilla filled with chicken sliced and melted mozzarella cheese. Guess what, there was salsa sauce to go with it too. The tortilla was awesome and soft and the mozzarella really melted my heart.Oh next seafood pasta dish is something to shout about. I am not so sure what goes into this fried spaghetti but it was so fragrant and yummy delicious. It was the tastiest pasta dish that I ever had, prawn and squid were very fresh and not forgetting the mussels too.Strangely came a huge plate fill with a variety of pan fried sausages. There were chicken and turkey filled with garlic, herbs and black pepper. It was tasty but I prefer to have thicker ones.I thought we were going to have deep fried spring chicken but this devil looks rather smaller, oh! It was the “Sar Thin Kai” brought from Perak. It was nice, the meat was tender and the skin was crispy.Oh! The finale, we had pan fried dory fish with baked melted cheese and accompany with olio-olio spaghetti. The fish was cooked to perfection and no fishy smell at all. We loved it!Look we had a great feast!D'Fortune Western Cuisine & CafeNo 2A & 3A, Jalan USJ 10/1J,47620 Petaling JayaSelangor Darul EhsanTel No: 03 8025 9509Fax No: 03 8025 9250[...]
