Robert Kiyosaki

Robert Kiyosaki, author of "Rich Dad Poor Dad," is an investor, entrepreneur, and educator whose perspectives on money and investin' fly in the face of conventional wisdom.

In arguin' that "old" advice -- get a good job, work hard, save money, get out of debt, and invest for the long term -- is obsolete and flawed, Kiyosaki has earned a reputation for straight talk, irreverence, and courage.

"Rich Dad Poor Dad" is the longest-runnin' best-seller on the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, USA Today, and BusinessWeek best-seller lists. It held a top spot on the New York Times list for nearly five years and was USA Today's No. 1 money book for 2004. Prior to writin' "Rich Dad Poor Dad," Kiyosaki created the educational board game Cashflow 101 to teach individuals the financial and investment strategies that his rich dad spent years teaching him.

Born and raised in Hawaii, Kiyosaki is a fourth-generation Japanese-American. After graduatin' from college in New York, he joined the Marine Corps and served in Vietnam as an officer and helicopter gunship pilot. Followin' the war he went to work in sales for the Xerox Corporation and, in 1977, started a company that brought the first nylon and Velcro "surfer wallets" to market. He founded an international education company in 1985 that taught business and investin' to tens of thousands of students throughout the world. He sold his business in 1994 and, through his investments, was able to retire at the age of 47.

The Essentials of Keyword Plannin'

2007-06-29T14:53:58.784+08:00

Remember the web in the old days? You could cram in a bunch of keywords at the bottom of the page regardless of grammar, and pretty much devoid of any aesthetic sense, and search engines ate it up. It's probably a good thing those days are over because websites have become a lot more professional. That still doesn't mean that people are usin' keywords to the best of their advantage. In fact, because it is much harder to write keyword-targeted content, many site owners avoid the issue.

This is good news for anyone lookin' to improve their page ranking. The market is wide open for people who use an effective keyword strategy. The main issues are both quality and quantity. A few pages of keyword-driven content just aren't goin' to do it anymore. If you're really lookin' to improve your search engine rankin', and ultimately improve your sales, you have to provide dozens of pages of content.

To do so, you need to first research keyword strategies employed by competin' businesses. Type in the most obvious keyword for your industry. What comes out in the top ten? What have those sites done to achieve that rankin'? Keyword plannin' tools will tell you the popularity of certain keywords, but you should do some brainstormin' on your own. Try and think every possible permutation of a possible search, includin' misspellings—even for easy-to-spell words.

Each search engine will provide keyword plannin' tools, potentially for a fee—you can check the keyword relevancy in Google, Overture, Yahoo, and others. It's not a bad idea to check how keyword popularity compares in different search engines. You should be looking at potentially a hundred or more keywords—though this can vary accordin' to the site. If a site sells a variety of different products, or provides different services, you're goin' to be able to multiply that keyword list.

Each keyword list should be tailored to a specific demographic. Once you have the keyword list together, it is time to optimize content so that the site provides relevant content surroundin' that list of keywords. The most important part of content optimization is the title. What this means is you should title the article with a specific keyword in mind—the HTML link for the article is vital for page rank. This keyword should then be repeated in the article—but not so much that the text becomes unnatural or, worse, unreadable.

If that's the case, you could risk the site being banned by search engines outright. In addition to keyword popularity tools, you should also use keyword density tools for your site's content. If the keyword density is too high, the site could be red-flagged as offerin' unnatural, inorganic content. All of these issues are core to keyword plannin'.

Why Organic Real Estate On The Web Is So Important?

2007-06-28T10:20:54.924+08:00

When it comes to real estate, people usually shout out the mantra: location, location, location. When it comes to web real estate, you could say the same thing: location, location, location in search engines. Organic real estate on the web refers to the positionin' your website has on the web landscape. A solid organic real estate design and SEO strategy will make a website as necessary a destination as the corner market. In short, organic real estate keeps a website from languishin' unseen in cyberspace.

So how does Organic Real Estate work? What makes Organic Real estate, well, organic? The main feature of Organic Real Estate is quality, informative content. This is what sets quality SEO plans apart from those that are merely tryin' to trick search engine spiders. Content should be natural, not written as if composed by a machine. Natural, well-written web content will increase page rank at a faster rate than content that is written only with keywords in mind.

This is especially important for web entrepreneurs who run affiliate sites. Web surfers are getting savvy to the fact that many affiliate sites are just a dummy site set-up to "hopefully" brin' in some sales. Experienced affiliate marketers know that you can make a site that is as competitive, and useful, as the affiliate's host site. The more quality content there is on your site, the better an affiliate site can separate itself from the crowded web marketplace.

But Organic Real Estate is about a lot more than content—and this is where a lot of SEO plans fall short. In addition to providin' content, a site owner must determine a target audience. In one way, content and target audience go hand in hand. You have to figure out target audience and tailor content accordingly. In addition, you may have a different target audience for different products or services offered on your site. Content and keyword targetin' must be tailored to each potential type of client and customer.

Without these strategies, what will you have: a site that looks more like a link-factory than a trusted resource in a particular industry. In the past, people stressed the need for quality web design. While this is no doubt important, it is now much easier for amateur's to design a high-quality lookin' site. It is far less easy for site owners to provide fresh and useful content. You'll find a bevy of nice-lookin' sites with little or nothin' to offer in terms of content. In Web 2.0, content is what separates the great from the mediocre, and the organic from the artificial.

Five Reasons Your Company Needs A Solid SEO Plan

2007-06-27T11:41:55.351+08:00

Here's the major reason that your company needs a solid SEO plan: profitability. Search Engine Optimization ("SEO") is just another way of marketin'. If you don't market a product, you can't expect name recognition or sales to come pourin' in. Most people surfin' online go to search engines to find information or new products. Without a decent search engine rankin', your site, and products, will be passed over time and again.

There are five core reasons that SEO is important, all of which can help a business's profit margin. Let's begin with what is the basis of SEO marketin': content. The idea of providin' unique content is so that the site becomes a trusted resource on a set of topics. So how does content help profitability?

First is search engine rankin'. Search engine spiders love content. If the content matches the HTML title tag, an important optimization technique, and the content contains common keywords plugged into a search engine, there will be more opportunities for the site to land in the top listings of search results. Providin' quality, targeted content will draw in potential customers lookin' specifically for what you have to offer.

Drivin' traffic has a two-fold purpose. Not only does a content-rich site help search engine results, but the content will leave a lastin' impression on visitors. Imagine a site that's in the top three results that provides no useful information. Traffic can be useless if the site doesn't have some stickin' power. Web surfers will come back to the site time and again. SEO will lead to both new and repeat visitors. Inspirin' repeat visitors is reason number two for a solid SEO plan.

An offshoot of this is number three: referrals. The more content-rich your site, the more you'll be able to get referrals. Web surfer one goes to a site and finds useful information, he then refers web surfer two—it's a type of traffic that works independently of search engines, the basis of viral marketin'. Part of SEO is providin' an easy way for people to refer other web surfers, possibly with a reward system.

Fourth is linkbait. Again, this has two purposes. Quality content can lead to other sites linkin' to the original article. This will both drive traffic from the linkin' site, as well as help elevate search engine rankin'. Search engine spiders love relevant links.

The final way SEO is useful is general: it improves the site. A website is a form of advertisin'--it represents the company. A site should be feature-rich & informative in order to increase brand recognition & ensure repeat visitors. Too often, website owners are caught up in how to "fool" search engine spiders. You might fool a spider, but you'll rarely fool an actual web surfer. SEO should be about providin' a content-heavy site that will become a trusted resource in your industry.

Web Site Optimization

2007-06-26T10:05:31.243+08:00

All optimization is not equal. There is such a rush to optimize a website for search engines that people don't realize that some Search Engine Optimization ("SEO") techniques can be self-defeatin'. Either a lot of work will go into a particular type of optimization that is fruitless or it can be downright harmful for search engine rankin'. A high search-engine rankin' is the holy grail of SEO, but make sure you put your energy in the right place.

The first two issues involve web design: don't use flash or frames when designin' a website. These won't get you banned by search engines; but the site might be ignored entirely. While you can use some flash animation within a site, overuse of flash should be avoided. Search engines like text, not fancy graphics. A flash-heavy site could be passed over. The same goes for a site written with frames; frame-heavy sites confuse search engines so the sites are not properly indexed. The text on a framed site is hidden within the frame, so even if there is ample content within the frame, it will not be read correctly. Verdict: avoid it.

When writin' content, make sure the content makes sense. In the early days of the web, people went keyword crazy. They would cram a huge paragraph of keywords throughout a page. This worked for a little while. Now search engines are wise to it & this technique can lead to a site bein' banned. Website owners try to trick search engines by includin' the keywords within actual content, but if the keywords are too close together, this could also lead to problems.

Another issue is spamdexin'. Never use keywords that don't apply specifically to a site. This can most often be seen with site owners usin' adult-themed keywords to brin' in unrelated searches. This will cause a site to be quickly red-flagged. Usin' invisible text is a bad idea as well. Invisible text is the same color as the background. It can be read by spiders, but can't be read by human eyes. The problem here is that spiders now recognize this technique and it will be red-flagged.

Generally, content should be useful and informative. You can include specific keywords within content, but if you provide enough content, these keywords will be covered automatically without jeopardizin' the site with picky search engine spiders. The use of quality content is two-fold: it's a better way to optimize with search engines and web surfers will spend a longer time on the site readin' articles or other content. The trick is to create trust; both with spiders & real people.

Win The Battle of Relevancy Online With Custom Content

2007-06-25T10:15:57.347+08:00

It's a dog eat dog world out there on the Internet. There is the capacity for an unlimited number of storefronts on the web that you'd never be able to find on main street. The fact is that there is even more competition for business online than there is in the brick-and-mortar world. This is only going to get more intense. It wasn't so long ago that many people were afraid to use credit cards online. Shoppin' online was a curiosity. Now, it's a given.

The battle of relevancy online is the battle of one site bein' more useful than another. In the growin' virtual marketplace, it isn't nearly enough to just have a number of products and hope for the best. Look at Amazon.com reviews—they are core to what has made that site grow. A glowin' Amazon review can do a lot for a product's sales. Web surfers use Amazon reviews as much as they use a review in the local paper, if not more. Reviews have made Amazon a relevant and trusted resource for a department store's worth of products.

Not every site can hope to have the same review structure as Amazon. A number of affiliate sites use Amazon reviews as their own content. Web surfers are gettin' savvy to this: they can smell an affiliate site. Why not just go to Amazon directly? The battle for relevancy, then, is to become somethin' as trusted and vital as the major sites online. You can't necessarily wait around for people to write reviews, and the process may not even apply to your site, so a site owner needs to provide content of your own.

Another word for relevancy is usefulness. It has been shown that the longer a person sticks around on a site, the more likely he or she will make a purchase. Even if that person doesn't make a purchase the first time to the site, the site will have left an impression. People are lookin' for information on a product or service as much as they are lookin' to make an immediate purchase. Web surfers like to be informed shoppers and the web gives them an unlimited amount of places to get this information.

This is where your site comes in. Don't make a web surfer click off your site to find information on a product—give them the information right on site. This means you should have articles available about any and all issues affectin' a particular type of product or service. There can be hundreds of potential topics on one type of product, and a site may have dozens upon dozens of products available.

Not only will this type of information keep your site relevant to web surfers, it will be relevant to search engines as well. With content, these make up your target audience: search engine spiders and real people. If you provide relevant content that speaks to both, your site can compete with the giants.

Increase Your Rangkings With Custom Content Solutions

2007-06-22T16:47:25.161+08:00

There is a mantra in e-commerce that content is king. Content isn't just a way to inform visitors comin' by the site, it's a way to draw in those ever-present mechanical insects, search engine spiders. The key to knowin' if you're makin' nice with search engine spiders is if you have a good page rank: (image) Google page rank is the holy grail of search engine rankin'.

Page rank & content go hand in hand. There is a misconception that the number of links comin' in to a site is the main thin' that determines page rank. While links are obviously important, content is vital as well. In fact, they are intrinsically connected. If you have quality content on your site, more sites will link to you as a respected authority on a given topic. If those sites have a good page rank, it can only help elevate the page rankin' of your site.

First though, you need to create articles that are worth readin'. A poorly written article with legions of typos and inaccurate information isn't goin' to fool web surfers or search engine spiders. Poorly written content full of keyword-jammin' & other outdated SEO techniques are goin' to be virtually ignored. In the age of Web 2.0, web content needs to have a purpose. Only web content that is useful and informative will help a website move forward in the rankings.

This is easier said than done, however. Many small, medium, or large business owners are not professional writers. Furthermore they just don't have the time to write quality, custom content. Merely cuttin' & pastin' someone else's content is not the best solution. New and updated content is important to keep a site relevant and fresh, it might amount to hundreds of new articles. Site owners just don't have the time, patience, or even the skill.

The hardest part about gettin' a good page rank may be writin' the content itself. As a result, outsourcin' custom content is common. It is as integral to settin' up a website as web design. There are a number of content writin' solutions available. Make sure to find a content writing company with a qualified & talented stable of writers who have the ability to write on a variety of subjects.

Quality content will keep people on the site. It has been shown that the longer a web surfer stays on the site, the more likely it is that he or she will make a purchase or become a repeat visitor. Customers and clients trust a company with a site that is well written and informative. As the vast majority of web surfers use search engines to find products or services, it is necessary to have both quality content and a good page rank.

Why Custom Content Is So Critical?

2007-06-21T13:37:27.972+08:00

Think of the alternatives to custom content: no content at all or content that has been taken from another site. If those two options seem unusable, you're gettin' a good idea of why custom content is so important. Lookin' at it another way: not havin' content is like designin' a web site with the exact same layout as Amazon. This just isn't done—your site needs to be unique to be effective.

The two keys to custom content are uniqueness and authority. An informed buyer is an active buyer. Don't make a web surfer go elsewhere to find information on products and services. Everythin' a customer needs to know should be found on your site: informative articles, glossary definitions, reviews of products, answers to Frequently Asked Questions, and more. When all of this content is in place, a site will rank more highly in search engines, so a potential customer will have a better chance to come to the site and start perusin' the information.

The idea is not just to sell specific products, but to sell the website itself, as well as sell the entire company. All of these things work in conjunction with each other. If people trust the information on the site, they'll be more willin' to make a purchase. In addition, there's an element of gratitude for havin' direct questions answered. A site should never cover the bare minimum, but the gamut—every possible piece of information surroundin' an industry, no matter how small.

Along with custom content there should be content organization. Just plasterin' long paragraphs of text on the screen will exhaust a web surfer before he or she even starts readin'. Content needs to be well organized with relevant links both within the article and on the sidebar leadin' to information that corresponds to the original article. Just as the content needs to be well informed and well written, it needs to be well presented, or a web surfer is goin' to click out and move on.

All of these issues can make a website stand out from the vast array of sites online. People are more & more lookin' to the web for both information and shoppin'. At a content-rich site, surfers can kill two birds with one stone. These days, web owners are hirin' copywriters to handle the task of preparin' custom content. Each site will have a different demographic and require a different type of writing—for instance, technical or conversational—so it is important to find a content writin' firm that specializes in a wide variety of industries.

Do You Know?

(image) A survey by the Global System for Mobile Communications ("GSM") recently showed that Germans send a gigantic number of 200 million SMSs a year, which was nearly three times as many as the Finns, in second place at 75 million or Britons at 70 million. Reaction times are, on average, 30% slower when usin' a mobile phone compared with when drunk – and 50% slower than normal – with drivers unable to maintain a constant speed or safe distance from the vehicle in front. A survey showed that Hong Kong's mobile phone obsession has passed onto children, with their ownership of the gadgets markin' the highest number in Asia. An annual report on the Asian telecoms market conducted in 12 countries by research company TNS showed that 29% of Hong Kong children aged 6 to 15 have a mobile phone, followed by 25% in Australia and Japan. The youngest mobile phone owner in Hong Kong is just 6 years old.

The Henley Management College and Teleconomy recently conducted a three-year study regardin' people's sentimental attachments to their mobile phones and how they used their phones to manage their relationships. The study found that 46% of respondents had used their mobile phones to lift their spirits or entertain themselves, 55% to fight boredom and 52% to gossip.

What Custom Content Can Do For You?

2007-06-20T13:11:48.290+08:00

In an increasingly crowded web marketplace, it can be difficult to separate from the pack. Sometimes even havin' a good page rank is not enough. You could have a number one rankin', but if your site is uninformative or poorly designed, web surfers are goin' to click and run. With the number of affiliate sites now enterin' the field, there is even more competition for web surfers' time. To succeed on the web, your site needs to be an absolute authority in a particular field.

A website is the best promotional tool an e-business can have. The business can advertise all over the web & set up pay-per-click campaigns, but if the site itself is weak, you cannot expect web surfers to stick around or come back a second time. Custom content is all about keepin' surfers on site & comin' back for more.

The more content you have, the more chance there will be that a surfer will type in that keyphrase that matches content found in content. However, keep in mind that web surfers can smell fake content—content that is purely used to generate traffic, with awkwardly phrased keyphrases and grammatical oddities. Your better bet is to write content that is factually relevant: informative content, rather than just keyword-driven content. In relevant content, a large number of keyphrases will be covered, in addition to bein' a trusted source on the topic.

A hundred pages of informative content can be far superior to a hundred pages of keyword-driven content. If a spider detects that too many keyphrases are mashed together on a page, the site could be red-flagged, or even banished to a permanent low rankin' in a search engine. In the past, a website owner could write the same keyword over and over again at the bottom of the page. Spiders got wise to this and now this tactic can be more of a detriment than a benefit. Relevant, custom content will never be red-flagged by search engine spiders.

Custom content can lead to sales or new clientele. Think of two sites: one site offers little to no information on a topic. Another site addresses any & all topics affectin' an industry. Which site do you think a potential customer is going to trust? Content is not just about rankin' high in search engines via page rankin', but about providin' a quality website. Custom content should be a mixture of both naturally keyword-rich content as well as highly useful information.

Importance and Benefits of Link Popularity

2007-06-28T15:39:48.710+08:00

Everyone likes to be popular. In a way, the web is just like one big popularity contest. It wasn't fair in high school, and it might not seem so fair now. You can have the best-designed, most informative site online, but if no one links to you, you're goin' to have a harder time gettin' a high search engine rankin'. Rankin' high with search engines relies on two things: content and link popularity. Of course, if you have the most informative site online, your job is half done. One of the keys to bringin' in new links is havin' a well-designed site. If you go after link exchanges & your site looks like it belongs in the last decade, you're goin' to be hard-pressed to find any takers. People don't have all the room in the world to add links on their site. You need to provide a site that is worth linkin' to. On the flipside, you should find link partners with quality sites of their own. Link popularity is not just about quantity, but quality. Certainly, it is a good idea to have a great number of links comin' in, but search engine spiders also take into account the quality of those links: i.e. how many sites link to the site that links to you. Spiders hold a premium on sites that link to you without a correspondin' reciprocal link. When search engine spiders surf your site, they're lookin' for the type of content that you have on your site & the number of links goin' both in and out.An easy way to start buildin' link popularity is to add your site to a number of directories. These directories may or may not require a reciprocal link. The higher the quality of the directory, the more the directory listin' will be worth. Really, you should spend a good amount of time addin' your site to as many directories as possible. Look for other immediate avenues for link buildin' as well—post in forums, on blogs, or create a blog of your own. All of these will be indexed by search engines, which will help increase your rankin'. One of the major advantages of havin' a blog is you have one more place to add a link to your site. In addition, you have one more place where you can trade links—contact other bloggers in a similar field & trade links. You should not only be lookin' to increase link popularity for the host site, but for blogs & other sub-sites as well. It is absolutely imperative that your site is useful. The more content you provide, the more you can get a foothold in your industry. When you write new content, promote it: Digg.com the article & add the article to directories & other sources. Websites can then potentially place the article on their sites, linkin' to the site where the article originated. A link doesn't necessarily have to be permanent—a temporary link to an article can help search engine rankin' as well. What this all means is that link popularity is an evolvin' process. You should always be correspondin' with site owners lookin' for a link trade. And you should be frequently providin' new content to ensure that your site is worth the link.Link-Popularity.com: See who links to your web site. This service provides an easy one-click method of checkin' link popularity on three of the major search engines. Do Not Invest in Illegal Internet Investment Schemes!!

2007-07-11T12:14:28.851+08:00

These Q&A was extracted from Securities Commission of Malaysia website.Frequently Asked Questions!Questions are coloured in RED & Answers are coloured in GREEN.Following the recent announcement by the Securities Commission ("SC") that it would start blocking access to illegal investment websites commencing 11 June 2007, the SC has received more than 340 public enquiries on the matter over three working days. As a general guide to the public, the SC today issued a set of frequently-asked-questions covering various facets of the impending move to block illegal investment websites.1) Why is the SC blocking access to these illegal investment websites? The SC has issued repeated warnings to investors on the risks of investing with illegal schemes and also continuously reminded the public to only invest with licensed persons to be accorded the protection provided under the securities laws. However, despite the repeated warnings, the rising number of public enquiries and complaints, shows that the public continues to participate in such illegal investments. Therefore, the SC has to take stronger enforcement measures including preventing the public from accessing these illegal investment sites. The SC will continue to take all measures to fight illegal investment activities in order to protect investors and the integrity of the Malaysian capital market as a whole. 2) How does the SC know that these websites are illegal? The illegal investment websites are detected through the SC's surveillance and investigation, and information received from members of the public. 3) Which websites will be blocked? Why isn't the SC blocking access to all the websites on its list of unauthorised websites? On 11 June, the SC will start blocking a selection of websites on its list of unauthorised websites. Blocking of websites is only one of the many steps that can be taken. It will be done in stages and is an ongoing process. The SC will continue to take all measures to fight illegal investment activities including taking enforcement action against operators and agents of illegal investment websites. The SC will determine the appropriate steps to be taken on a case-by-case basis. 4) Besides the blocking of websites, what else will the SC do? The SC will take all measures to fight illegal investment activities including taking enforcement action against operators and agents of illegal investment websites. The SC will also continue with its investor awareness programmes. 5) If SC already knew these websites were unauthorised, why did it not close them earlier and take action? Prior to this, the SC has been conducting nationwide educational and awareness programmes on these schemes. We have also collaborated with other local and foreign authorities to issue warnings and alerts to investors. To further deter the public from investing in such illegal schemes, a list of unauthorised websites was published on the SC website and also distributed to the public. Despite the repeated warnings and awareness programmes, the rising number of public enquiries and complaints, shows that the public continues to participate in such illegal investments. Therefore, the SC is moving to the next stage which involves the SC taking stronger actions to stop more people from falling prey to these scams, as well as enforcement action against the perpetrators. 6) Does it mean that websites that have not been blocked on 11 June are authorised to offer investment schemes? No, the websites that remain on the SC's list after 11 June continue to be unauthorised under the securities laws to deal in securities, provide investment advice and/or fund mana[...]

Top Resources For Affiliate Marketers!

2007-06-18T10:56:43.816+08:00

(image)

By and large, the top resources for affiliate marketers aren't so different than the resources for standard businesses. Of course, affiliate marketers have some unique concerns: payment scale, new affiliate opportunities, where to place links, etc. But affiliate marketers are the most successful when they don't think of their sites as "dummy" sites, but full-fledged business opportunities. Another way of statin' this is an affiliate marketin' business & the host business are one & the same.

For both affiliates and marketers, one of the most important tools available is the site meter. Affiliate marketers should check in & out clicks. In-clicks will tell you what searches are bein' used the most often. You could then write some additional targeted content around this search term to brin' in even more web surfers. Out-clicks are just as important. Out-clicks will show you which pages are the least popular. You will want to write some new content and/or redesign the page to help with a page's popularity.

The key to any web business is drivin' traffic. This traffic needs to be monitored to determine where the site has been most effective. Remember, anythin' can be improved. Even if you're very satisfied with the amount of traffic you're gettin', there are still thousands of web surfers out there who have never heard of your site. Improved content, site functionality, and useful affiliates can all drive repeated traffic to your site.

A website should never be static. You should never just design a site, leave it alone, and hope for the best. It should be monitored & improved—possibly even on a daily basis. Bloggin' has been an important and highly succesful addition to the affiliate marketin' industry. Every day, affiliate marketers can write new content aimed at drawin' in a different demographic, or expandin' the customer base of a current demographic. Forum software is another good tool for keepin' people on site & interested in the site's contents. Both forums & blogs are good for bringing in new registration. An affiliate marketer should keep track of past browsers just like a standard business. Lead generation & organization are important for marketers as well.

Affiliate forums are some of the best places to find information on new affiliates. Certainly, there is stiff competition between affiliates, but there's also a willingness to help each other out. If an affiliate has a particularly bad reputation, you can get the lowdown in the forums. At affiliate forums, you can also find web design tips, read about past successes, and basically start to get a foothold in the industry. As link popularity is enormously important for search engine rankings, you can begin link-partner relationships in forums as well. Read more...

Why Affiliate Marketin' Is So Important?

2007-06-15T17:36:55.453+08:00

Much of the information you'll find online is aimed at affiliate marketers: Make millions online! While many of these claims are overblown, they also get the attention of small & medium-sized businesses that also want to cash in on the affiliate marketin' gold rush. Becomin' an affiliate is as lucrative a proposition as becomin' an affiliate marketer. For this reason, you'll see new affiliate opportunities arisin' each & every day.

Look at what a business is gettin' if it starts an affiliate program: free advertisin'. That's the simplest way to put it. The marketer signs up with the business & agrees to put a link on a website. The business only has to pay for this service if a sale is made—normally for a reasonable commission. As this is a sale that wouldn't have been made without the affiliate marketer's site, it is money well spent.

Even if a sale is not made, the link provides a method of advertisin' that can increase name recognition. Most business owners know that people might not make a purchase until the fifth time they see a brand name or come surfin' to a site. An affiliate program can spread the word about a business on dozens upon dozens of sites. When combined with more traditional types of advertisin', this can be a great way for a new business to get a foothold or an established business to expand its reach. These links can help search engine rankin' as well.

The trick to a good affiliate partnership is findin' quality marketers. While you obviously want to have your link on as many sites as possible, you also want those sites to be adept at generatin' traffic & sales. The fact remains that a large number of affiliate sites are posted & then never updated again. A business wants to find marketers who will design a professional-lookin' site & market that site effectively. At affiliate forums, businesses can hook up with marketers to start a relationship. A business owner can get a sense of the marketer's skill & drive from his or her stable of sites.

There's a lot of competition for marketers out there, especially established, quality marketers. Your best bet is to offer very attractive terms—a higher commission than the competition or a unique link layout. It should go without sayin' that your own site is well designed. An affiliate marketer wants to make a sale just as much as you do, and marketers won't sign up with a site that is poorly constructed. Offer a good site & a good product & you'll brin' in more affiliate marketers. All this said, it is no surprise that affiliate marketin' is growin' at such an exponential rate. It is as important to business as any other type of marketin'. Further...

Difference Between An Affiliate & Super Affiliate

2007-06-14T14:51:26.475+08:00

It's a bird, it's a plane, it's Super Affiliate! Corny, but "super affiliate" is the new buzzword for affiliates who are both ambitious & successful at affiliate marketin'. There are wild claims online about affiliate marketin': Make Millions Overnight! Never Work Again! Unfortunately, these claims are usually false. To go from bein' a plain affiliate to super affiliate takes a lot of work. In short, you need to be an affiliate of steel.

The vast majority of affiliate marketin' sites online are run by people who have no great interest in turnin' a huge profit. For example, you'll find thousands of blogs where people put up a few Amazon listings and/or Google links on the off chance that a passin' browser will click on them. That's all well & good, but this is no way to make a dent in the affiliate marketin' game. To be a super affiliate, you need to treat affiliate marketin' as a job, not just somethin' that you do on the side to put a couple of bucks in your pocket.

There is a misconception that affiliate marketin' is not a real business. After all, the affiliate is not puttin' out a product. This is patently false. Even though an affiliate marketer is not manufacturin' a product, he or she is still offerin' the product up for sale. An affiliate marketer still needs to be in charge of search engine optimization, custom content, quality web design, financial management, & everythin' else that goes into runnin' a successful e-business. As with any business, an affiliate marketin' plan is only as stron' as the amount of work you put into it.

A super affiliate will be able to turn as hefty a profit as a standard business—several sales a day on a number of different fronts. Remember, successful affiliate marketers don't necessarily stop at one site. They set up a variety of affiliate sites with a good web address, quality web design, & lucrative affiliate marketin' opportunities. Additionally, once you start sellin' at an accelerated rate, some affiliate programs will promote you from regular affiliate to super affiliate. If you start sendin' sales & traffic to a business, they will reward you with better terms.

This isn't an easy proposition, but it is possible. Make sure that an affiliate program has a correspondin' super affiliate program in place—better terms for more sales. Even if they don't, an affiliate with good terms up front can really pay off if you're able to make a several sales a month. Affiliate programs with great terms are also sometimes referred to as super affiliates. Find these & you know you'll have a good marketin' in place at the start.

What To Look For In An Affiliate Partner?

2007-06-13T14:33:59.631+08:00

Affiliate websites are one of the fastest growin' wings of e-commerce. You can literally find thousands of affiliate partnerships to choose from. This is both good and bad news. The good news is that there are great affiliate deals to be found online that haven't yet been over-saturated by partnerships. The bad news is that there are affiliate partners out there that you shouldn't touch with a virtual ten-foot pole.

There are a number of steps you should take before signin' up with an affiliate partner. First, you should read the affiliates terms and conditions. Too often, buddin' marketers skip over an affiliates terms. An affiliate partner may not allow for Google Adwords or other marketin' avenues so make sure this is not explicitly laid out in the affiliates terms and conditions. If there are no terms of service, this should be a warnin' in itself. A reputable affiliate will normally have terms of service.

Payment is obviously a huge one. Make sure the affiliate has reasonable terms. Some affiliates, such as Amazon, only pay out after a set number of sales—you do not make a dime on the first, second, or even tenth sale. Other affiliates will pay out for each sale. The flip side is that an affiliate with a sales minimum may also have a better percentage payout. The best-case scenario is to find an affiliate partner that pays out for every sale and offers a good percentage.

This will be all for naught if the affiliate does not pay out in a timely manner. Try and not learn from experience, in other words, don't get burned. Instead, learn from other people's experience. Go to affiliate marketin' forums to see if a particular affiliate has a good or bad reputation. The trouble here is that a new affiliate might not have a marketer base yet, and these affiliates usually offer the most attractive terms in order to brin' affiliates in. Use some common sense—if the affiliate's site is well designed and they offer a good and useful product, you could try and test the waters.

On that front, it is sometimes a good idea to find an affiliate partner that is not overly saturated. If you offer a service that can't be found on every other web page, it can lead to a better sales rate. However, once again there's a flip side: if it's a virtually unknown site, it's harder to build up buyer's trust, as compared to well-known affiliate programs like Amazon or the Discover card. A lot of the onus falls on you—if your site is well designed and well managed, buyers will trust your affiliate links.

How To Make Money With Affiliate Programs?

2007-06-13T14:36:04.470+08:00

Affiliate programs can either be a way to put a little extra cash in your pocket or, hopefully, become a full time job. However, it's not like you can put up a bunch of affiliate links and expect to start makin' a mint. If you want to make a full time job's worth of money off affiliate marketin', you have to work at it full time. The great thin' about affiliate marketin' is that it works 365/24/7—but this doesn't mean you should also put in several hours a day of your own time.

The affiliate marketers who have had the most outstandin' success are normally those who have more than one site workin' at once. It's much harder to make a decent amount of money if you have one affiliate site at a time. Experienced affiliate marketers will have a number of different sites runnin' at once, all with different types of affiliate links. What this means is that each affiliate site will need separate SEO: new content in the form of blogs, forums, articles, and other techniques.

A key to a successful affiliate marketin' program is to make the affiliate site a useful resource. Just postin' a bunch of links is not goin' to impress many web surfers. They'll leave and likely never come back. The trick to any web business is to keep people on site—this is true for the affiliate partner and it's true for affiliate marketers. An affiliate site shouldn't necessarily scream, "affiliate site." Instead, it can be a trusted resource on a particular topic.

Useful content is the best way to make this possible. Take a site that has a number of links to sports-related businesses (apparel, equipment, tickets, books, etc.). The affiliate marketer can then set up a forum that talks about different sports teams, strategy, and so on—potentially, this forum could bring in sports fans from across the country. Bloggin' is another great medium for affiliate marketin'. On the same site, the blogger could write reviews of new equipment or write in depth trade talk about a variety of sports. These are just a few ideas but they show how affiliate marketin' can—and should—be a serious, long-term proposition.

What it comes down to is that affiliate marketin' is no different than runnin' the host site. Both are about runnin' a business, even if an affiliate marketer has no direct product or service to sell. An affiliate marketer should set up a site that is useful and informative—a destination that people will come back to again and again. In some cases, an affiliate site might even be more informative than the partner's website.

Only until these issues are covered can an affiliate marketer hope to make a good amount of money with affiliate marketin'. Sure, you could put up links and hope for the best, but you should think about investin' some time into the site if you really hope to turn a respectable profit.

How To Become An Affiliate?

2007-06-08T17:18:19.826+08:00

Becomin' an affiliate is one of the easiest business propositions out there, which is why it is so quickly gainin' in popularity. Businesses want to have as many affiliate marketers workin' for them as possible, after all, it's really just a form of free advertisin'. For this reasons, businesses make it very easy to sign up for an affiliate program. Find a program, sign up for free, and just like that you're an affiliate.

The most important part of affiliate marketin' boils down to one word: relevancy. In order to be a successful affiliate, you need to choose partnership programs that correspond to the nature of your affiliate site. So if you are runnin' a travel affiliate site, link to affiliate sites for airfare, travel packages, clothin', and other relevant sites. Linkin' to a pet product affiliate doesn't make so much sense.

This is core to why experienced affiliate marketers will have a stable of sites. They'll have their travel hub, pet hub, book hub, and so on. Some affiliate marketin' links will cross over, for instance, everyone needs credit cards and even airfare deals could find a home on a pet site. The basic rule of thumb is that affiliate links should be on topic.

If you're just startin' out, one method to startin' an affiliate site is to thumb through affiliate marketin' directories and see what affiliate marketin' programs interest you: do they offer a good product, do they have good terms, do they have a good rating? You could then design your website around a particular type of product based on the affiliate program you have found in an affiliate directory. If you already have a runnin' website, check directories for new affiliate marketin' programs that correspond to the site.

At times, less is more. There are literally hundreds of affiliate deals out there with good terms and a good product. Don't just cram hundreds of links onto one page. Your affiliate links should be easy to read and access, and they should be organic: they should appear to be a part of the site, rather than an obvious moneymaking opportunity. The more relevant these affiliate sites are to the main theme of the site, the more likely it is web surfers will click on the link and make a purchase.

Do Not Answer Cell Phones When It Is Plugged In!

2007-06-07T15:43:42.332+08:00

Never, ever answer a cell phones while it is bein' CHARGED!!

A few days ago, a person was rechargin' his cell phone at home. Just at that time a call came and he answered it with the instrument still connected to the outlet.

After a few seconds electricity flowed into the cell phone unrestrained and the youn' man was thrown to the ground with a heavy thud. His parents rushed to the room only to find him unconscious, with a weak heartbeat and burnt fingers.

He was rushed to the nearby hospital, but was pronounced dead on arrival. Cell phones are a very useful modern invention. However, we must be aware that it can also be an instrument of death.

Morale of the story, never ever use the cell phone while it is hooked to the electrical outlet!
