Tue, 12 May 2015 08:00:00 EDT

This invention is a photon-interactive Gaussian surface lens method means that converts incident photons from a single or a plurality of wide band gap semiconductor class light emitting diode dies, into a secondary emission of photons emanating from a composite photon transparent colloidal stationary suspension of quantum dots, high efficiency phosphors, a combination of quantum dots and high efficiency phosphors and nano-particles of metal, silicon or similar semiconductors from the IIIB and IVB Group of the Periodic Table and any nano-material and/or micro/nano spheres that responds to Rayleigh Scattering and/or Mie Scattering; and a plurality of quantum dots in communication with said nano-particles in said suspension. The apparatus and methods according to the present invention provides in improved narrow pass-band of red, green, and blue photon efficiency over phosphor based conversion. Utilizing the invention's methodology, the white resultant color temperature is stabilized against internal semiconductor thermal fluctuations or ambient thermal variations.

A projector includes a housing, an image projection unit, and a plurality of connection ports including a power connection port. The housing has a top face, and a first face and a second face adjacent to each other, and a light projection port on the top face. The image projection unit includes an optical system to project light corresponding to image data, via the light projection port disposed on the top face, in an upward oblique direction with respect to the first face. The plurality of connection ports is disposed on the second face. The power connection port is disposed at a position in the second face closest to the first face side.

Projector

In a projector, a projection unit includes a projection mechanism that projects an image and an air hole that takes in or exhausts air used to dissipate heat generated from a light source included in the projection mechanism. A housing covers the air hole when the projection unit is in a storage position in which the projection unit does not project an image and uncovers the air hole when the projection unit is in a projection position in which the projection unit projects an image. The drive mechanism moves the projection unit or a cover member. An electronic control unit controls the drive mechanism to move the projection unit to the projection position in which an image is projected when receiving a predetermined projection preparation request and move the projection unit to the storage position in which no image is projected when receiving a predetermined storage request.
