The superposed portions of the upper member and the reinforcement member and the superposed portions of the upper member and the lower member are then respectively joined by spot welding to form a blank member. The spot welded blank member is then heated to a temperature of a transformation point or higher, and the blank member is hot press formed by one press machine.

This invention provides an aerodynamic structure attached to the rear cargo body, having doors that swing open, or a single, full-width door, which rolls upwardly. The embodiments provide an aerodynamic structure attached to the rear in a manner that would obscure access to the door(s) in a deployed position, in which the structure reduces drag, yet enables access to the door(s) in a folded position. The folded position allows access to the rear for loading and unloading, and in the case of swinging, hinged doors, allows the doors to be folded through a 270-degree arc, with a minimal sideways projection. The various embodiments also enable relatively rapid and easy transition between the folded position and the deployed position using actuators and/or linkages that tie the folding and deployment of panels of the structure together. This allows selective folding and deployment of the structure without undue effort or strength.

When the frame sections are rotated or folded relative to each other, the hidden-type hinge is partially exposed out of the embedded holes. Thus, the occupied space of the hidden-type hinge and the gap between the adjacent frame sections can be minimized. The waterproof flexible strip can be continuously extended along the entire length of the two adjacent frame members without being interfered with by the hidden-type hinge substantially hidden within frame members, so as to enhance the waterproof reliability thereof.

This combination allows the use of more tumblehome on the motor vehicle without needing to increase the thickness of the lower part of the side door in order to accommodate the drop-down window when it is lowered.

The center section protrudes rearwardly relative to the first panel member and the second panel member. The second panel member is recessed forwardly of the first panel member and forwardly of the center section to increase space available in a rear seat aligned with the second panel member.



Pillar trim structure

There is provided a pillar trim structure. A plate-shaped slider is configured to slide on a backside of a pillar trim in a longitudinal direction. A tunnel part is provided at an upper end of the backside of the pillar trim and formed with a through-hole. A rib is provided so as to stand at one side of an entrance of the through-hole over the longitudinal direction and inclined so that one edge of the slider gets away from the pillar trim as the slider gets over the rib. The entrance is cut out in an elongated shape at an opposite side and is cut out widely so that the entrance is more inclined with respect to the pillar trim than the slider from a predetermined starting point towards the one side and the entrance abuts on the slider at the starting point.
