Cracked heels is a condition of the feet when the skin begins to get thicker and fissures or cracks begin to appear on the soles of the feet. This is a common foot problem. Cracked heels are often referred to as fissures. When the fissures become deep, the skin can begin to bleed easily and causes a lot of pain.

The following list is some of the most common symptoms suffered by people with cracked heels:



A hard growth of skin along the outer edge of the heel.
Yellow or dark skin forming on the heel.
Pain while walking.
Increased pain when wearing thin soles or open back shoes.
Red or flaky patches appearing on the heel of the foot
Peeling and cracked skin on the sole of the foot
Itchy skin on the sole of the foot

Cracked heels can be treated, though this becomes more difficult when the skin around the rim of the heel is thick and calloused.



Some of the common treatments for cracked heels are:
