The adapter has a base plate with a first area to secure the igniter, a second area to withdraw the igniter's pull-rod by the attached pull-ring, and a compound assembly that interfaces with a robot. The pull-ring is attached to a sled that moves rearward when a clinching force is applied to opposing paddles, which causes the connected angled articulating struts to spread open. The paddles are moved closer by a remote controlled robotic jaw, and this closing movement causes the sled to move rearward, pulling out the pull-rod, which sets off the explosive.

According to an embodiment, a detonator may include: a conductor including at least two constituents including (i) an electrically conductive constituent, and (ii) an electrically non-conductive constituent, that when subjected to sufficient electrical energy, result in an exothermic reaction; and a flyer plate having a non-conductive surface in contact with said conductor. When the sufficient electrical energy is supplied to said conductor, rapid heating and vaporization of at least a portion of the conductor occurs so as to explosively drive at least a portion of the flyer plate away from said conductor. In an embodiment, a multilayer conductor may be formed of alternating layers of at least one electrically conductive layer, and at least one electrically non-conductive layer, that when subjected to sufficient electrical energy, result in an exothermic reaction.

A binary exploding target package, a process of forming an exploding target from the contents of the binary exploding target package, and the exploding target formed therefrom. The binary exploding target package includes a first, target container and a second container. An oxidizer composition is contained within one of the containers and a catalyst composition is contained within the other container. An exploding target is formed by mixing the oxidizer and catalyst compositions, and introducing the mixture into the target container to form an exploding target just prior to using the exploding target as a target for a shooting exercise.

A system for programming and lighting electronic detonators (1) each having an identifier (IDdet) associated therewith, includes: a programming unit (20) arranged to determine the identifiers of the detonators (1) and to associate the detonators individually, in memory, with a lighting time delay (Tdet) in order to form a blasting pattern (PT); a blasting unit (10) arranged to recover the blasting pattern (PT) from the memory (280) of the programming unit (20), and to control a blasting sequence of the detonators according to the recovered blasting pattern; and the programming unit (20) includes: a passive RFID tag (28) provided with a chip (280) acting as a memory for storing the blasting pattern (PT), and a radiofrequency reader (27) arranged such as to read/write passive tags. A corresponding method is also described.



Rolling vehicle having collar with passively controlled ailerons

A spinning, rolling, or roll-stabilized vehicle, such as a projectile, includes a fuselage that rotates about its longitudinal axis (spins) during flight. A collar is positionable relative to the fuselage to steer the projectile, with the collar having ailerons to provide a roll force to position the collar. The collar also has elevators to provide lateral force to steer the projectile. The positioning of the collar may be accomplished by moderating the roll force of the ailerons to hold the position of the collar substantially constant with regard to a longitudinal axis of the projectile. The ailerons passively change angle of attack with changes in the dynamic pressure of the projectile. At low speeds the ailerons have a relatively large angle of attack, and at high speeds, the ailerons resiliently reduce their angles of attack, avoiding large rolling forces on the collar.



Gas controlled delay timing device

A delay release device that connects to an aerosol filled canister that releases the aerosol in a delayed manner. The device includes a main body with a first plunger assembly mounted on one end. Formed adjacent to the first plunger assembly is a first chamber filled with a compressed gas pressurized from 40 to 150 psi based on the time delay desired. In the main body adjacent to the first chamber is a second chamber and a third chamber. Located inside the third chamber is a second plunger with a hollow stem introduced into a top valve assembly on the canister. To activate, the first plunger assembly is pressed inward which activates a second valve disposed between the first and second chambers. The second valve allows compressed gas to flow slowly from the first chamber into the second chamber and into the third chamber. The increased air pressure in the upper portion of the third chamber exerts a downward force on the second plunger which forces the hollow stem into canister and causes the aerosol gas to be released into a lower discharge chamber and then through holes formed on the main body.
