FORCE LIMITING DEVICE

Thu, 03 Nov 2016 08:00:00 EDT

A force limiting device comprises a housing defining an axially extending chamber containing a working fluid. A force transmitting member may be mounted for linear reciprocable movement inside the chamber under the action of external loads. An axial array of plates is floatingly disposed in the chamber between the force transmitting member and an end wall of the chamber. At rest, each plate is spaced from an adjacent plate by a gap occupied by the working fluid. When the force transmitting member is displaced towards the array of plates, the fluid in the chamber causes the plates to be successively pushed against each other, thereby causing some of the fluid to be squeezed out from between the plates.

HEADGEAR BRIM BAND

Thu, 03 Nov 2016 08:00:00 EDT

A headgear accessory encompasses and encases the edge of a brim typically found on headgear such as a baseball cap. The elastically pliable band slips over and engages the upper and lower surfaces of the brim of a hat, encompassing the forward edge of the brim, and extending longitudinally along the curvilinear length of the brim. A channel runs the longitudinal length of the band which includes an area void of material and is configured to accept and secure the edge of the brim. As the surfaces of the channel expand apart to accept the edge of the brim, the brand is elastically deformed creating a normal force between the band and the respective surfaces of the brim. The normal force combined with the applicable coefficient of friction and other mechanical/structural configurations results in a frictional force that secures the band to the brim of the headgear.

PARACORD SURVIVALIST BELTS/BRACELETS AND MAGNETIC SAFETY RELEASE

Thu, 03 Nov 2016 08:00:00 EDT

Waistbands and wristbands include separable clasps suitable to join woven Paracord around a user's waist or wrist. Matching clasp pieces are attached to opposite ends of single lengths of woven Paracord and magnetically snap together and hold firm until twisted by the user or pulled apart by excess hauling force applied to the woven Paracord. Side slippage between matching magnetic plates of the clasps are textured with indentations and matching protrusions to control such slipping. In particular, such indentations and matching protrusions are concave and convex oval cones of matching height and base. These cones impart a ramping leverage effect that translates lateral movements into separating forces that both assist a user in dismounting the clasp by twisting and in the predicable and controllable release of the clasp subjected to longitudinal single-vector excess hauling force.
