Electrically conductive articles are provided, including a composite including (a) a resin, and (b) electrically conductive shaped particles distributed in the resin, the particles having a monosized distribution. Each particle has a shape including at least a first surface and a second surface intersecting the first surface at an angle a between about 5 degrees and about 150 degrees. The composite has a thickness and often each of the electrically conductive shaped particles distributed in the resin is oriented within the resin such that the particle does not extend beyond the thickness of the composite. A method for making an electrically conductive article is also provided, including (a) providing electrically conductive shaped particles having a monosized distribution, and (b) distributing the particles into a resin to form a composite.

A composite substrate 1 according to the present invention comprises: a supporting substrate 10 that is formed of an insulating material; a semiconductor part 20 that is disposed over the supporting substrate 10; and interfacial inclusions 30 that are present at the interface between the supporting substrate 10 and the semiconductor part 20 and contains Ni and Fe so that the ratio of Ni to Fe is 0.4 or more. Consequently, the present invention is able to provide a highly reliable composite substrate wherein the interfacial inclusions 30 are prevented from diffusing into the semiconductor part 20.

In an insulated wire obtained by covering a conductor with an insulating layer containing crosslinked silicone rubber, the crosslinked silicone rubber has an inter-crosslinking molecular weight of 2000 or less. It is preferable that the insulating layer has a Shore A hardness of at least 50 as measured in accordance with JIS K6253. The insulating layer may further contain calcium carbonate powder, magnesium oxide powder, magnesium hydroxide powder, and the like.

The alloy layer contains an intermetallic compound obtained by replacing some of the Cu atoms in Cu6Sn5 with at least one metal selected from Zn, Co, Ni, and Pd. It is preferable that the content of at least one metal selected from Zn, Co, Ni, and Pd in the alloy layer is in a range of 1 to 50 atom % when the total content of the metal and Cu is regarded as 100 atom %.

A labeling assembly is shown and described herein. A labeling assembly for laminating labels may include a label sheet, a laminating sheet and an alignment member. The alignment member may allow folding of the label sheet and laminating sheet. The label sheet may include a facestock sheet and a liner sheet. Labels may be pre-cut in the facestock sheet. The laminating sheet may include a laminae film sheet and a liner sheet. Protective covers may be pre-cut in the liner sheet and laminae overlays may be pre-cut in the laminae film sheet. The protective covers may be removed to expose an adhesive portion of the laminae overlay. The label sheet and the laminating sheet may be folded onto each other at the alignment member. The laminae overlay may adhere to the label to form a removable laminated label.

An asphalt-based shingle is formed with a substrate saturated with asphalt, an asphalt coating on the saturated substrate, and a top film bonded to the surface of the asphalt coating covering at least a portion of the shingle to be exposed when installed, The top film may be configured to mimic the appearance of traditional clay granules on the shingle or another shingle surface. More specifically, the top film is printed or coated with an image that mimics the appearance of a clay granule bed and is embossed, pressed, or molded to mimic the texture of a clay granule bed. The top film is UV resistant to protect the asphalt below from deterioration. An anti-stick film may be bonded to the back of the shingle to prevent shingles from sticking together when stacked into a bundle. A method of fabricating the shingle may include applying pre-fabricated film to the shingle substrate during shingle manufacturing or extruding a polymer film onto the substrate and subsequently printing and embossing the film during shingle manufacturing.

The invention provides novel slate-like composite materials and methods for preparation thereof. The slate-like composite materials can be readily produced from widely available, low cost precursor materials by a process suitable for large-scale production. The precursor materials include calcium silicate, for example, wollastonite, and particulate filler materials which comprise silicon dioxide-rich materials such as quartz, mica, feldspar, sand and glass. Additives can include calcium carbonate-rich and magnesium carbonate-rich materials. Various additives can be used to fine-tune the physical appearance and mechanical properties of the composite material, such as colorants such as particles of colored materials, such as colored glass, colored sand, and colored quartz particles, and pigments (e.g., black iron oxide, cobalt oxide and chromium oxide). These slate-like composite materials exhibit visual patterns unique to slate as well as display compressive strength, flexural strength and water absorption similar to that of slate.

The surface material for automobile of the present invention consists of the nonwoven fabric for molding. In the present invention, it has been found that a good moldability is achieved when a stress at 20% elongation in the cross direction is 24 to 36 N/3-cm-width.

The invention is directed to carbon fibers having high tensile strength and modulus of elasticity. The invention also provides a method and apparatus for making the carbon fibers. The method comprises advancing a precursor fiber through an oxidation oven wherein the fiber is subjected to controlled stretching in an oxidizing atmosphere in which tension loads are distributed amongst a plurality of passes through the oxidation oven, which permits higher cumulative stretches to be achieved. The method also includes subjecting the fiber to controlled stretching in two or more of the passes that is sufficient to cause the fiber to undergo one or more transitions in each of the two or more passes. The invention is also directed to an oxidation oven having a plurality of cooperating drive rolls in series that can be driven independently of each other so that the amount of stretch applied to the oven in each of the plurality of passes can be independently controlled.

The platelet-type zirconium phosphate has a platelet-type structure and can be uniformly dispersed at a nanoscale level in a coating film to exhibit excellent surface gloss and barrier capability. Also, the platelet-type zirconium phosphate can exhibit excellent corrosion resistance due to the presence of the P—OH group on a surface thereof, and can be dispersed not only in an aqueous solution but also in an organic solvent.

The coating is based upon a hybrid condensation product of a water soluble sol-gel solution prepared from a solution containing one or more organo-functional silanes. The silane solution is hydrolised at pH 4-6.5 for 16 hours at room temperature with continuous stirring at a speed of 300-800 rpm. The coating composition when applied on a galvanized or galvannealed steel substrate provides more than 200 hours of white rust resistance at a coating thickness of less than 5 micron and can dry within 10-30 seconds at 80-90° C. peak metal temperature.

The halogen-free resin composition comprises, based on the weight parts of organic solids, (A) from 40 to 80 parts by weight of allyl-modified benzoxazine resin, (B) from 10 to 20 parts by weight of hydrocarbon resin, (C) from 10 to 40 parts by weight of allyl-modified polyphenyl ether resin, (D) from 10 to 20 parts by weight of allyl-modified bismaleimide resin, (E) from 0.01 to 3 parts by weight of an initiator, (F) from 10 to 100 parts by weight of a filler, and (G) from 0 to 80 parts by weight of a phosphorus-containing flame retardant. The prepreg and laminate prepared from the halogen-free resin composition have lower dielectric constant and dielectric loss tangent value, higher peel strength, high glass transition temperature, excellent thermal resistance and better flame retardant effect.
