Touch Season 2 Premiere

The premiere date for Season 2 of 'Touch' was pushed back and it has been announced now. 'Touch' returns for a second season on February 1st. Its a long way off! Waiting for Friday, February 1st now.

Supernatural: Season 8 Episode 1

And Dean is back from Purgatory! The Season 8 Premiere takes us one year on from where we saw Dean disappear with Dick at the end of Season 7. Understandably so, he is in a pretty wild state.

Meanwhile, we see Sam saying goodbye to his dog and leaving behind a sleeping girl as he takes the Impala in the night. The two brothers meet and it is sort of a routine matter between the two. However, things heat up when Sam reveals to Dean that he quit hunting after Dean disappeared. What is even more startling for Dean is that Sam never tried looking for his brother. Dean is a little pissed off, to say the least.
Dean switches on the mobile phones that Sam had stashed away. He listens to multiple voice messages by Kevin, the kid Prophet. The brothers decide to track him down as he was their responsibility. The search takes them to Michigan, where Kevin’s girlfriend is attending college.
We see flashbacks of how the year had been for both brothers. Dean apparently got out of Purgatory with the help of a vampire. And he brought the vampire back into the world as part of the deal. Cass didn’t make it out of Purgatory. When Sam asks Dean if he saw Cass die, Dean replies that he saw enough. Who knows, maybe we’ll see Cass return some time later on in the season.
Sam hit a dog and brought him to a veterinarian hospital. The dog sustains injuries and the doctor shames Sam into taking the dog with him. So we took a sneak peek into how Dean and Sam spent the past year and how things came to be how they are.
Coming back to the present, the brothers manage to locate Kevin. Kevin reveals how Crowley wanted to use him to read another one of God’s words. The tablet contained writings related to demons. Kevin managed to fool Crowley at the time and escaped. He tells Dean and Sam that the tablet shows how to close off the doors of Hell forever. Needless to say, the brothers decide on the spot to take Kevin to the tablet. However, there are some unexpected guests. Demons.
Crowley tries to take away Kevin but fails. Now, Dean, Sam and Kevin are on their way to finding the tablet. Dean gets a phone call from the vampire-aide at the end of the episode. Looks like he’ll be causing a few problems down the road.

How I Met Your Mother: Season 8 Episode 1

(image) Season 8 finally took off and it looks like the much-awaited identity of Ted’s bride will finally be revealed. The season premiere ended with the lady approaching the place she finally encounters Ted (it certainly looks like the place J). However, a huge yellow umbrella hides her from plain view. Let’s see when she makes an appearance again.
First things first though. The season finale from the seventh season had confirmed that Barney and Robin do end up having a wedding. We get just a glimpse of the pre-wedding jitters and then we are taken into the past again. Back to where Barney and Quinn have just gotten engaged and Lily and Marshall are proud parents.
Baby Marvin has arrived and the new parents are quite a sight. Sleep-deprived, they let slip in front of Quinn the one thing Barney had been keeping from her. Quinn is a little perturbed when she finds out that Barney and Robin had dated but relaxes when Robin tells the gang about this new boyfriend she has.

The touching moment comes when Robin opens the storage box that Barney has kept hidden somewhere. In it are all the mementos from the time the two had dated and it is very clear that Robin still has feelings for Barney and misses their time together.
Meanwhile, Ted learns an important lesson. Remember, he and Victoria drove off into the sunset in the season finale. Well, Ted convinces Victoria to at least leave a farewell note to the groom. Things twist a little and there are some funny moments. However, Ted gets some sound advice from the groom, Klaus (who was also running off from the wedding actually!). And Klaus’s words help Ted realize that Victoria might not be the girl he has been waiting for.

Grey's Anatomy-Farewell to Mark Sloan

I have to say, I enjoyed this one. Then again, maybe I was watching a Bollywood flick after too long and overlooked the negative aspects. Anyway, the movie’s gotten quite a few good reviews from people I know.
So what’s it about? There’s a guy and two girls. Let’s see, perfect recipe for a love triangle and all the typical drama that unfolds afterwards. But it still seemed different. Throw in a pinch of friendship and see how that changes things.
Veronica is your typical rich girl who is living the high life. No idea where her parents are, but she gets a fat check to fulfill all her needs. And so she takes Meera in to help her. Meera arrives from India only to find out that her husband doesn’t want anything to do with her. And there is Gautam who is a happy-go-lucky guy. Rarely serious, he starts seeing Veronica and moves in with her too. And so the three embark on a beautiful friendship. There is fun and frolic all the time.
Boman Irani plays an apt ‘maama jee’ and is quite funny. And it is the entry of Dimple Kapadia as Gautam’s very-Indian mom that puts the dents in the threesome’s lives.
Gautam and Meera fall for each other and Veronica gets left out. This may sound typical enough but “Cocktail” managed to weave a new magic into the same old story. And the music never let down. The soundtrack is actually pretty good.
So there it is then. Highly recommended for a good time. “Cocktail” will give you just the right mix of funny quips and good music, adding a big splash of good old friendship to all the other ingredients.

Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted

This latest offering of the Madagascar series was a much anticipated one. And for the fans, it didn’t disappoint. For others, I came across one comment describing it as a little too childish. But I believe the consensus is that it is pretty funny.

Alex, Marty, Gloria and Melman take off from Africa, desired destination being New York of course. However, as always, things don’t go exactly as planned. And they end up landing in Monte Carlo. From there starts their adventure in Europe.
The evil (but still cute) penguins are with them of course.

And we meet some new animal friends as the four become a part of a circus. The aim is to perform well in the circus and get selected to go to NY city. What follows are some pretty funny moments, along with some learning ones as the animals all try to motivate an old and dispirited member of the circus gang.

And what movie is complete without a villain. Here it is the animal catcher, who cuts out a very irritating and hateful figure.

Alex, Marty, Gloria and Melman do end up reaching home, that is, New York. However, they lose a few friends along the way and realize at the end that they do not belong in the zoo after all. It was a fitting end. The four team up with their circus friends again and embark on a life of freedom. To say that this might have been the last chapter in the Madagascar series won’t be far from the truth I believe. Loved it while it lasted!
Check out the movie site for some extra fun! :)

J. Edgar

I know this is not the latest movie around but I only watched it recently. It promised to be a fascinating one, depicting the life of J. Edgar Hoover, the man who made the FBI what it is today. A very powerful institution.
Leonardo DiCaprio plays the lead role to near perfection. The movie takes us through the various life stages of Hoover’s life, as he turns from a young ambitious man to one who has his own, even against the various presidents of the United States.
Controversial yet effective, Hoover used all means to guard his country against anything he perceived as a threat. And of course, to keep himself in charge. Keeping personal files including the dirt and scandals of various presidents, he could bully almost anyone.
On a personal front, he was a troubled man. Dominated completely by his mother, she held the strings that moved him. Having lived with her till her death, Hoover never raised a family of his own. Rather, he stayed confused and enjoyed a rather peculiar relationship with Tolson, his confidant and associate director. He also had a quite loyal personal secretary, Helen Gandy, who destroyed his personal files after his death.
The movie portrays not only a man but an institution itself. J. Edgar Hoover’s story is synonymous with the story of the FBI and how it became such a powerful entity. It is intriguing and quite worth the watch.

Touch Season 1 Finale

This was a brilliant finale to a new show that has a unique concept and storyline. The only complaint any fan could have at the end of Season 1 is that it was too short. Just twelve episodes. The fans have been left hungry for more and the anticipation for the second season is pretty strong. The finale once again showed how everyone is interconnected. And characters from previous episodes were masterfully woven into context in the finale. The ‘Invisible Prince’ made an appearance, helping Jake to avoid the “Officers of the Empire”. Don’t you just love that guy? :) And there was Arnie. He helps Martin out by selling him a gun. That, of course, led to the moment where we saw Kiefer Sutherland holding that gun, his hands shaking, truly looking like he had never seen a gun before. Fans of ‘24’ and ‘Jack Bauer’could only have smiled there. The finale saw Martin losing custody of his son, only to have Clea aid Jake in running away to his dad from the facility. And we had Avram assisting the father and son in getting away from New York.Amelia’s mother was the significant new entry. She believes her daughter is alive and is still looking for her. We now know it to be true as Martin has sufficient evidence of Amelia being alive. Rather, had it. The proof has been taken away from him.A Japanese family was in the limelight too. Losing much in the tsunami, they are given some much needed relief by a series of events.Touch Season One has ended with Martin and Jake in Los Angeles. The last scene was probably the best of the lot. With the backdrop of the ocean, Martin and Jake meet up with Amelia’s mom. And as it hits Martin that this is the reason they had to be in LA at that precise moment, Jake slides his hand into his dad’s. And that was the scene that truly touched all.[...]

Touch Season 1 Finale Preview

The finale of 'Touch Season 1' is going to air on 31st May, i.e. tomorrow. And it promises to be a good one. It's going to be two hours long, with a few of the questions answered while some may be kept in store till next season, I feel. Really excited to see where Martin and Jake end up, both with the custody situation and Jake being one of the '36 righteous ones'. Don't have to wait long now. And while waiting, there's a lot to keep up with the anticipation.

There is a Facebook event for the 'Touch Season Finale'. Check it out here: Touch Season Finale

The Avengers-Trailer

The Avengers

‘The Avengers’ is the latest superhero flick. Rather, there are quite a few of our favorite superheroes all bundled into one movie. I have a confession to make here. I haven’t seen any of their individual movies. ‘The Hulk’, ‘Thor’, ‘The Ironman’, ‘Captain America’. I haven’t an inkling what any of these were about. Yeah, I know. I must have been living under a rock all these years. But things changed with ‘The Avengers’ as I happened to catch it on the big screen. And it was brilliant. There was the ultimate fight for the survival of the planet. And we had all these amazing superheroes with their incredible powers. There was The Ironman, who was also always ready with a funny quip. The Hulk was kept restrained for much of the movie but unleashed during the final battle. And man, did he know how to smash stuff. Captain America was ever present with his iconic shield. Hawkeye was on the wrong side for much of the movie but was saved just in time by the Black Widow for the final battle. The Black Widow herself was ever agile and dangerous. And there was Thor, the demi-God, who had such a powerful presence.Loki, Brother of Thor, was the evil guy. In possession of the Tesserect, he was aiming to rule over earth. And in the end, it took quite a lot to overcome him and his army. It’s an awesome movie. It really is. A bit on the longer side, running for almost two and a half hours. But you wouldn’t care. Gripping action, scintillating graphics and a cast of immortal characters. ‘The Avengers’ is one movie you wouldn’t want to miss.  [...]

Grey’s Anatomy (Season 8 Finale)

‘Life changes in an instant. Turns on a dime.’ Callie summed it up really. And the six doctors enroute to Boise experienced it personally.  We knew there was going to be one death in the finale. A death that will change everything. And the one who was killed off turned out to be a bit of a surprise. It didn’t take long though. Just a few minutes into the episode and we could see Christina, Meredith and Mark nowhere close to dying. Arizona was injured, yes, but looked like she would survive. Derek was lost. He had been sucked out of the plane and was nowhere to be seen.Mark and Christina trying to help LexieHowever, it was Lexie who was hit the hardest. Lying in a heap under tons of plane debris, one look and you could tell it was the end for her.Lexie in her last momentsWhat followed were a few minutes of pure agony, as Lexie spent her dying moments with Mark. Those two had looked like they were supposed to end up together but death intervened. Derek's hand stuck in plane partMeredith weeps at Lexie's deathMeredith and Christina finally found Derek. He had had his left hand stuck in a plane part and used a rock to squeeze it out. Wonder what kind of damage has been done there and if he can even do surgical procedures come Season 9.Mark has a cardiac emergency which the other three doctors take care of.Meredtih, Christina and Derek treat MarkMeredith and Christina help injured DerekBack at the hospital, Webber is giving a dinner to the residents. April and Jackson vow to be happy while they still have time and are together. There is another doctor leaving Seattle Grace-Mercy West, Teddy Altman. She has been offered a better position elsewhere and although she wanted to stay to help Owen, he encourages her to go.Bailey has agreed to marry Ben, but how that long-distance relationship will work out remains to be seen. The doctors, cold and injuredTo cut it short, the finale didn’t live up to the hype it had generated. It left all ends hanging loosely. The doctors are still stuck in the forest, cold and injured. Who among them will survive? Will there be another death in the season 9 premiere? Arizona is looking like a candidate as she was seen spitting out blood. Grey’s Anatomy Season 8 could not have ended on a grimmer note!    [...]
