Paintball Rules Sat, 20 Jun 2009 20:27:00 +0000 Here is a new blog entry by a guest blogger from our PaintballGuns.MEspace. Theprofessionalpro, writes this blog."Setting the Standards High Well, it happened to me. It could happen to you. I'm in a firefight, trying to press through and get an angle for my team, and CRACK! Hit. Out. Why? I followed the rules of engagement. What? That's right. In my firefight an 'out' player walked right into my line of fire. I cannot intentionally shoot at an 'out' player, so I didn't and it cost me an 'out' Why did I let myself get shot out rather than return fire? It's the rules. Integrity is hard to build and easy to break. What's the point of this? Well, that 'out' player was a newbie. It wasn't really his fault, it was ours. No one told him the full rules of engagement. It's easy for us veterans, but we often take for granted the fact that everyone we play with knows the rules and we forget to pass some of them along to the 'new guys', like walking around an engagement if your 'out'. There is a safety issue and a quality of play issue here. We have a responsibility as seasoned players to teach the greenhorns how to play safely and what the rules are. Some rules we should all know: 1] ALWAYS use a BBD (barrel blocking device) when not on the field 2] ALWAYS keep safety on until you engage 3] NEVER remove your mask on the field 4] NEVER fire in the 'safe zone' or staging area 5] NEVER walk through an engagement if you're out (not a good idea if your 'in' either) 6] ALWAYS be mindful of everyone else's safety and you own 7] ALWAYS chrono your paintball marker to under 300fps, preferably set at 285fps 8] ALWAYS know the bounderies and stay inside them 9] NEVER fire at anyone who has removed or is not wearing a mask 10] NEVER wipe paint on field ( this is CHEATING)" Feel free to comment or add other rules that players should be aware of. Tippmann TPX Pistol Holster Recalled Tue, 09 Jun 2009 07:19:00 +0000 Today we received some very disappointing news about the Tippmann TPX Pistol Holster, they have been recalled. We just received our major order and were ready to ship. Then they called this morning and said do not send them out. The replacement holsters will not be available for 3 more weeks. The reason they give is that there is some faulty stitching on the holster and they will not stand up to the rigors of paintball over time. They made the tough decision to correct it now. Anyone that has already received one can call Tippmann and make arrangements to receive a replacement from them when the new ones are ready. You will have to ship the old one back. This entire launch of the Tippmann TPX Pistol has been disappointing. They should have just made enough to send everyones orders on the same day. We much prefer the Tippmann US Army Project Salvo announcement. They announced it and shipped to those that ordered the same day. I am already sending them out.
Paintball Safety Considerations Sat, 06 Jun 2009 07:38:00 +0000 Paintball is a highly charged, adrenaline filled sport based on combat simulations. While it is naturally much safer than the real thing, it’s still a potentially dangerous sport if you don’t observe some safety considerations. No doubt, it would leave a welt if you were hit by a paintball bare skinned. It follows that you would need protective gear during play, or else you could sustain more serious injuries. Special pants and jerseys are available, and using them comes highly recommended. You will also need a helmet and a face mask with goggles. Considering that the paintballs travel at about 300 feet per second, what do you think that would do to your eye if the paintball hit it? Now that protective gear is covered, let’s talk about safety practices. Most paid fields have their rules spelled out for you, but you may not always go to one of these places to play paintball. Outside of this context, many people can get carried away with the thrill of combat. Here are a few safety rules: • Never shoot an opponent when he’s down. When they’re hit, they’re done. It’s that simple. • Never shoot an opponent point blank. Regardless of safety precautions, this can cause serious damage. • Always make sure your gear is in good condition. The slightest crack in your lens can be a major problem. If your marker has seen better days, it’s time to replace it. • Always assume a marker is loaded and air is in the chamber. • Stay hydrated, and don’t drink alcohol when you play. • Do not try to “tweak” your gear outside of normal guidelines. This is just a very short list of the things you will need to keep in mind to keep from getting hurt, or from hurting someone else. This is supposed to be fun, not hazardous.
Tippmann US Army Project Salvo Paintball Gun Mon, 01 Jun 2009 20:09:00 +0000 Here is the announcement and pictures of Tippmann's new Alpha Black Project Salvo Model.![]() Here is the announcement and pictures of Tippmann's new Alpha Black Salvo Model. Quote from Tippmann on June 1, 2009, "We are excited to release the new U.S. Army Paintball Marker - Project Salvo™…an exciting new marker from U.S. Army Paintball featuring a six position collapsible and foldable stock, an AR-15 style shroud with four built-in Picatinny rails and a new AR-15 style magazine that doubles as a helpful toolkit. The marker also incorporates a flat-top Picatinny rail built into the receiver, which makes it simple for players to quickly add a handle, site, scope or a variety of other modifications. As an added benefit, the Project Salvo marker can be easily enhanced with an eGrip™ as well as several other performance upgrades from the Tippmann 98 Custom® Platinum Series, including: the Cyclone™ Feed System, Response™ Trigger and Flatline™ barrel. Much like Alpha Black™, the name selected for this new marker is rooted in U.S. Military history. Project Salvo was a series of tests conducted by the U.S. Army’s Operations Research Office (ORO) from the mid to late 1950s. The research obtained through Project Salvo helped lead to the development of the AR-15, which would go on to become the M-16 – widely considered among the most respected and proven rifles ever utilized by the United States armed forces." Tacamo - Another Paintball Industry Casualty Thu, 14 May 2009 04:52:00 +0000 Today is another sad day in paintball. The Tacamo Paintball Guns and all parts and accessories are obsolete and discontinued. If you need parts or accessories, I encourage players to stock up now. We do not have one item left or in stock and all pages will come down before the weekend. Please do not order anything from the Red Dot Paintball site because we will only have to refund your order. How could this happen, well it is another casualty in the paintball industry. Many of you may remember that Archon was purchased by Procaps (Draxxus). As I posted before many of the lines of paint that were produced by Archon (Zap, Spank, Chronic) have slowly been disappearing. Well, the disappearance trick was performed again as Procaps/Draxxus continues to redefine itself. The latest is they want to mainly focus on stores and fields for mainly paint and goggles. Very little else from what I am hearing. It will be interesting to see if Tippmann continues to use them as a distributor that is not stocking their items? Who knows...what we do know is that there are less and less options for paintball supplies. It seems that nearly every month another loss is encountered.

Smart Parts Paintball Guns Lov'em or Hat'em? Sun, 12 Apr 2009 23:59:00 +0000 I would love to know what everyone thinks of Smart Parts paintball guns. Recently, sales have been really slow for their guns. I am not sure why. My son uses an Ion and it is very easy to maintain. The Vibe and SP1 are cheap inexpensive but good markers to use with CO2.For awhile, a lot of people were buying SP8's. But, recently there are not many people even searching for them. Does anyone out there use an SP8? Are they good or ? What seems to be the problem? It has been awhile since Smart Parts introduced anything new and maybe that is it? Spyder has just released the KT Chaser Pistols and Tippmann their new TPX. Could it be just no hype? It is a bit of a mystery to me so curious to know what you think?

JT USA Discontinues Camo Flex 8 Full Coverage Goggle Tue, 17 Feb 2009 07:15:00 +0000 JT USA has announced that its popular Flex 8 Full Coverage Camo Goggle will be discontinued in the coming months. There are still a few available, but not many. Personally, I cannot understand this decision. Almost all companies have discontinued their camo versions of masks and it seems to me that keeping theirs would be a good seller. I have a set of these that I use myself. The goggles are very comfortable and are great in Woodsball. Along with my Tippmann 98 Custom Pro Camo Paintball Gun, I have a perfect combination in the bush.

Procaps, Draxxus and American Paintball Supply Say Farewell to Tyson Evenson Mon, 24 Nov 2008 07:28:00 +0000 ![]() This post is to display Procaps message and tribute to Tyson Evenson. "Tyson Evenson - Sly Equipment - RIP Around 2004, an overly excited, high-energy person comes into our company's life. Immediately, thoughts came to mind of "Here's another one of these vendors that is excited about paintball, but when will the excitement stop?" Fast-forward about three years and this excitable, energetic person still remained. An incredible lust for the sport, friendship and business ethics remained with Tyson until his last day. Zap to Archon to American Paintball Supply and then finally to Procaps; all found great success and pleasure with Sly products. As we mourn for someone that lost his life way too early, we should all be reminded of his passion for this sport and life in general. In this business there are few people that you can truly call a friend and when you find one, you cherish it forever. Those that knew Tyson realize that you can't sum up all he brought us in a few short paragraphs. Instead, he would want us to continue his legacy through the crazy wacky stories, antics, games played, and the desire to make paintball the best sport in the world. Now, raise your glass, make your balloon animal and salute Tyson one last time. When will the excitement stop? Hopefully never when we remember Tyson Evanson and Sly Equipment. You will be missed more than words can say. - From the families at Procaps LP and Procaps Direct"
Tippmann Pistol Picture Released Thu, 30 Oct 2008 23:06:00 +0000 ![]() Tippmann releases new Tippmann Pistol information for dealers. Please see their release below: "We at Tippmann are amazed at the number of posts and online discussions regarding the pistol we will be launching soon. Recently, an unauthorized photo was taken and then distributed on the web. We have asked a number of web sites to take down the prototype photo because of the poor image quality. As a T-Mail user, we are showing you for the first time a new shot of the pistol which is closer to how the final production version will look. But, please bear in mind this is still a prototype. As a quick update to the pistol design, notice that the CO2 cartridge is located just beneath the barrel. It is not part of the magazine. This helps improve air efficiency, reduces the size of the grip and allows us to provide additional magazines at a great value. When completed, our pistol will have its own unique look and set a new standard for the pistol category in performance and reliability. Unfortunately, the launch has been delayed for a few months, but we want to thank you for your continued patience – we believe the TPX Pistol will be well worth the wait." Please remember you can pre-order one of these Tippmann pistols for the very first release in the next few months.
Paintball Is a Family Recreational Sport Wed, 22 Oct 2008 06:57:00 +0000 Paintball is an exciting and fun activity. Many have heard that it is an extreme sport. To the contrary, many paintball parks are designed for the whole family. Like any sport, paintball has various levels and types of games to play. One of my favorites is woods ball. As a boy, I used to go hunting with my father. These days, hunting animals is just not what I want to do anymore. I would rather buy my food and hunting has become extremely expensive. Paintball gives me the same feeling of excitement and accomplishes what I am looking for in a weekend recreational activity. .Paintball is a family sport. Many people do not realize how much fun paintball can be for the whole family. Let 's face it we grew up fighting our siblings and what better way to have fun then to put a paintball right on her target. But, you brothers out there should beware, the women I see playing paintball are fast, sharp shooters and may just send 15 balls per second your way! Our trips to the paintball park are always a great way for my son and I to spend the day together. . Do not fear the paintball game itself. Most people fear paintball because they think it is going to hurt. While the occasional welt may happen, check your gear and wear proper clothing and you will be protected. It is like any other sport. Protect yourself to the comfort level you have. My son wears a chest and back protector, a full coverage paintball goggle, paintball gloves, paintball jersey and paintball pants. All of these are designed to give you comfort and protection when playing..Try all the paintball games. There are many types of paintball games. Not everyone likes baseball. But, many of us play slow pitch in our adult lives. Paintball is no different. You can choose speedball, which is what most of the tournament players and kids love. You can also choose woods ball where you get to try your hand at flushing out the enemy in a camouflaged hiding spot. There are scenario games where you may be able to be a sniper or capture a criminal holding a hostage. . Buy quality gear.In every sport I know of, the biggest reason people often get frustrated or give up is that they do not have the proper gear. This should be done after either renting or starting with an inexpensive set of gear. Then after you have experienced the game for a little while, upgrade your paintball guns and gear to the style of play you are comfortable playing. The main point of this article is to remove some of the fear of paintball and strongly encourage you to try it! Like other sports, it helps me forget about the daily stresses of life and enjoy some fun time with my family. After you erase your fears and decide to go, ask some friends that play to fill you in on what to expect. Rent some equipment or buy an inexpensive starter kit. An all inclusive paintball starter kit including a paintball gun (paintball marker which is the same thing) can be found online for less than $100.00. Compare that to the $10.00 to $20.00 you will pay for each rental. Protect yourself so that you are not afraid of playing the game. Then count on playing several games in the future to hone your skills and having a blast paintballing your friends and family!About the AuthorThe author is the owner of an online paintball store. Paintballs, What's Going On? Mon, 20 Oct 2008 05:02:00 +0000 Over the past few months you have probably noticed that many stores and online paintball stores have been changing their paintball line up. How come? Well, over the summer a lot of mergers happened and so the brands we have been using are going away. How and why has this happened? Well it started with Archon. They started to work with American Paintball Supply. Archon was supplying the Zap, Chronic, Proball, Ink'd, Spank and others. American Paintball Supply was mainly using their own line developed and produced by Procaps. This was the Origin line like Classic, Signature, Basic Training. American was also supplying Black Lotus and Bushido from overseas. When American joined forces with Archon, they took their line of Origon to Archon. Then soon after the big news came. Procaps, from Canada that produces the Draxxus line of Blaze, Gold, Silver, Bronze, Rec Sport, Triumph, Midnight and Frostbite bought out or merged with Archon. As you can imagine, they no longer had a need to compete with themselves. In addition, they partnered with American Paintball Supply to continue distributing. American needed to have the Origin line produced again and now they had to return to Procaps. Naturally Procaps needed to consolodate their line and so here is the fallout. American Paintball Supply dropped the importation of Bushido and Black Lotus. They returned their line to Procaps. So, we will continue to see at least Basic Training and possibly Origin Classic. Most others from the Origin line have been dropped. Archon paint like Spank and Chronic have been dropped. These are no longer available. Of course surviving are all of the Draxxus line. Procaps will continue to produce the Draxxus line and the others may survive, or be dropped, depending on their popularity.
Tippmann Pistol Update Tue, 07 Oct 2008 06:09:00 +0000 Here is the latest information we received from Tippmann. It is not much but gives us a little more information than last time."Tippmann’s new Pistol is on track for a fall delivery with a design that is lightweight, compact, 68 caliber and features Tippmann’s durability and reliability. There has been a lot of speculation about the design but here is what we can tell you. The pistol is an original Tippmann design using proprietary technology. It will be magazine fed, have a tight grip and a lightweight trigger pull. Please watch your email for more news later this fall." We will keep you posted as soon as we here any additional information.
Egrip and Etrigger Kit for Tippmann Alpha Black Wed, 03 Sep 2008 06:28:00 +0000 ![]() The two most popular upgrades are here and ready to ship. The Tippmann Alpha Black E-grip or E-trigger upgrade kit is shipping this Friday September 5, 2008 from our store. The E-Trigger™ Electronic Upgrade Kit includes four firing modes (semi-auto, 2 x full-auto, 3-shot safety burst) that can be changed in seconds for rapid (up to 15 balls per second) firing. At first Tippmann told us they would not release an E-trigger and hoping that customers would just sell their non-etrigger models and upgrade to the fully installed E-grip model of US Army Alpha Black paintball guns. They surprised us all and the electronic trigger upgrade kit is now here. They also announced the release of the Cyclone Feeder that has been fully modified out of the box. You no longer need to do anything to your Alpha Black to get the Cyclone Feed to fit. Please make sure you are ordering from someone that is offering the new model of Cyclone feeder for the 98. It is not clearly marked on the boxes (especially the early release) but rest assured the Cyclone Feed will fit your Alpha Black and will work out of the box without gun modification. Canadian or foreign models of the Tippmann Bravo can also use these upgrades. The Bravo is a copy of the Alpha Black and the upgrades will fit the Bravo models. We can ship the upgrades to Canada and internationally. |
