Dr.Web Anti-virus service now available to users in Japan’s Shimane Prefecture

Fri, 14 Apr 2017 15:00:15 GMT

Doctor Web is pleased to announce the deployment of the Dr.Web AV-Desk Internet service by Japanese company MC Security: 3,000 customers of hundreds of enterprises located in the Shimane Prefecture can now take advantage of the Dr.Web Anti-virus service.

MC Security is engaged in the production of Internet security appliances and solutions so it fully understands the need for anti-virus protection.

The company chose the Russian Internet service because it offers the ability to control processes on protected objects without having to provide customer on-site support: this fact lets customers and MC Security save time and money. It should also be noted that Doctor Web anti-virus products are already well known to the company's specialists.

“The Dr.Web Anti-virus service allows us to offer anti-virus protection at a price lower than our competitors. In addition, other companies do not have cloud-based products with a similar price-quality ratio. Another important aspect — in the information security industry, Doctor Web pays special attention to protecting customers from encryption ransomware", said Youichi Nagasaki, Sales Director, MC Security.

Doctor Web and ActiveCloud partnership brings the Dr.Web anti-virus service to corporate customers

Mon, 27 Feb 2017 00:00:00 GMT

February 27, 2017

Russian anti-virus company Doctor Web and cloud hosting provider ActiveCloud have collaborated to make the Dr.Web anti-virus service available to ActiveCloud’s corporate customers. The service allows them to use the Dr.Web anti-virus on a monthly subscription basis. This newly available option lets companies establish effective protection for their IT infrastructures at low cost and enjoy the ability to flexibly configure and centrally administer the anti-virus software.

With the anti-virus protecting computers involved in company management, accounting, and transaction processing, businesses are truly secure. Having effective protection against current threats and brand-new malware ensures that an enterprise runs faultlessly and spends less on its IT infrastructure’s total cost of ownership.

The Doctor Web and ActiveCloud collaboration makes this popular anti-virus software available to Russian companies on a monthly subscription basis. With this approach, the Dr.Web anti-virus software is installed on customer desktops, laptops and smartphones similarly to a conventional anti-virus; meanwhile centralised administration over all the settings is facilitated via ActiveCloud’s servers.

As an SaaS solution, Dr.Web software lets corporate users switch from capital expenses in favour of operating expenses, eliminate administration server purchase and maintenance costs, and simplify security software administration.

With SaaS, companies can get a monthly subscription for a selected tariff and manage it in accordance with their current needs, e.g., they can instantly change the quantity of protected devices and pay only for the actual number of connections.

«By using Dr.Web anti-virus software on a subscription basis, companies can optimise their expenses related to protecting themselves from malware and outsiders illegally accessing their corporate information, and strike a reasonable balance between what they spend and the level of security they need. An organisation can easily find a tariff that meets its current requirements", said Ekaterina Pasholikova, Doctor Web’s Sales Manager.

"Dr.Web anti-virus software has a long reputation of being a reliable security solution. With software administered from the cloud, customers can cut their IT infrastructure expenses and enjoy simpler security software administration that provides a "top-down" view of the entire network from a single workspace and makes it possible to promptly adjust their local network’s protection parameters from anywhere in the world", noted ActiveCloud’s Business Development Manager Anton Sandalov.

About ActiveCloud

Part of Softline International, ActiveCloud provides reliable web hosting, cloud, IaaS, SaaS and email solutions to customers in Russia and other CIS countries.

Dr.Web Anti-virus service now in Italy: CoreTech offers new security options

Mon, 23 Jan 2017 00:00:00 GMT

January 23, 2017

Russian anti-virus company Doctor Web reports that its Dr.Web AV-Desk Internet service has been deployed by CoreTech, a major distributor of software and IT services in Italy. Thanks to the new service, CoreTech resellers are now supplying their users with the Dr.Web Anti-virus service and taking advantage of all the benefits of the SaaS model.

Using software as a service is gaining popularity in Italy, and CoreTech is one of the companies actively putting this technology into practice. Now CoreTech’s numerous partners and, of course, their customers are able to appreciate the advantages of the SaaS model.

An important factor for us are the protection capabilities for resellers that are inherent in Dr.Web AV-Desk; also important is the fact that users can suspend the service during periods of inactivity, thus, paying only for the protection they actually need”, said Massimo Nasini, Commercial Manager of CoreTech, when sharing his impressions.

The service was deployed quickly, partly thanks to the fact that we didn’t have to install anything on the server side. Initial results show that the service is easy to install and it is not hard to work with”, noted Claudio Agnesani, CoreTech’s Sales and Technical Support Channel Manager.

The company’s specialists are certain that SaaS is the only direction in which the market is headed.

In addition to manuals for administrators and users, included in the course’s theoretical materials are step-by-step instructions on how to use Dr.Web AV-Desk v.10. These clarify the most common issues that a service supplier’s technical specialists and customers have to deal with.

The section “Dr.Web AV-Desk. Version 10.0. Typical service usage scenarios for users” contains detailed information on how to manage a subscription. It also acquaints readers in detail with the Dr.Web anti-virus software installation process, as well as the anti-virus’s settings and how to maximize their use. This document is intended for administrators working in companies that use the Dr.Web Anti-virus service for business, and for “first-line” technical support specialists working for service suppliers.

The section “Dr.Web AV-Desk. Version 10.0. Typical service usage scenarios for group administrators” is generally devoted to security settings for user groups that are specified by a service supplier’s administrator using the Subscription Control Center administrator console. Dr.Web keeps the peace in Spain’s San Pedro del Pinatar municipality

Thu, 01 Sep 2016 00:00:00 GMT

September 1, 2016

Doctor Web, the Russian developer of Dr.Web anti-virus software, is pleased to report that users in Spain’s San Pedro del Pinatar municipality can now subscribe to the Dr.Web Anti-virus service. Dr.Web’s cutting-edge technologies, which have proven themselves in the information security sector for the 24 years of the product’s development, will ensure that the municipality’s workstations involved in the Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) delivery method are well protected. The Dr.Web AV-Desk Internet service has been deployed by Audidata Sistemas.

San Pedro del Pinatar, Spain, is a town and municipality in the province of Murcia in the Mar Menor region. Formerly an agricultural and navigational center, it has become one of the main travel destinations on Murcia's Costa Cálida, as well as a popular holiday spot for Spaniards.

The administrative authority of San Pedro del Pinatar is proud of the accessibility and transparency of its services, and information technologies play a huge role in the successful management of the municipality. Therefore, in order to maintain effective communication with residents and tourists, we must take all possible steps to protect our IT infrastructure, and the best way to achieve that is by using the Dr.Web Anti-virus service which lets users enjoy anti-virus protection in the most convenient subscription format", said Audidata Sistemas. "Our choice was also influenced by the fact that Doctor Web is one of the very few companies in the world that, in some cases, can recover data compromised by encryption ransomware. This indicates that Doctor Web anti-viruses are able to resist the most sophisticated deception tactics of cybercriminals”.

Dr.Web Anti-virus Service comes to Principality of Andorra

Thu, 01 Sep 2016 00:00:00 GMT

September 1, 2016

Russian anti-virus company Doctor Web is pleased to announce that the Dr.Web Anti-virus service is now available to users living in Canillo, one of the parishes of the Principality of Andorra. Now the cutting-edge technologies of Dr.Web—one of the first and most established anti-viruses in the world—will be protecting users here against the latest information threats. The service is available due to the deployment of the Dr.Web AV-Desk Internet service by Audidata Sistemas.

Canillo is one of the seven parishes of Andorra—the prosperous principality located in the Pyrenees. The Canillo area is very picturesque due to its amazing mountain landscapes and location on both banks of the river that divides it in half. Here, one can find well-preserved, old buildings, charming little streets, and the main attraction Pal-de-Gel—the most popular ice palace in Andorra. It is no surprise that the travel industry has been flourishing here for many years.

The Canillo parish is a quiet and peaceful place where one can relax from the bump and grind of the modern world. However, cybercriminals operating in the information space pay no attention to borders, hence our IT space needs state-of-the-art protection against current threats like encryption ransomware", said Audidata Sistemas. "A subscription to the Dr.Web Anti-virus service combines the highest level of protection, a convenient selection of subscription packages, and immediate technical support, all at an affordable price”.

Dr.Web Anti-virus service users can now enjoy the most cutting-edge technologies of Dr.Web 11 for Windows

Mon, 01 Aug 2016 00:00:00 GMT

August 1, 2016 Russian anti-virus company Doctor Web has updated Dr.Web Agent for Windows in the service Dr.Web Anti-virus. Now users can benefit from all the innovations incorporated into Dr.Web series 11 products for Windows, including technologies that provide enhanced protection against attacks that exploit zero-day vulnerabilities. The anti-virus also boasts a significant performance boost. Innovations in Dr.Web Agent for Windows version 11 Anti-exploit protection prevents malware from using software vulnerabilities when trying to take over an operating system. Fine-tune the Preventive Protection to control access to objects for trusted applications and thus avoid system conflicts. In addition, the Preventive Protection settings now include the option to create profiles. Dr.Web Scanning Engine routines have been optimised to ensure that possible threats are detected faster. Dr.Web Scanner SE’s graphical user interface (GUI) has been completely redesigned—settings for the scanner are now included in with the general anti-virus settings, making it easier to manage. Statistics on the activities undertaken by the anti-virus are now gathered and stored. Filters provide easy, instant access to events involving specific components or to the list of Parental Control-blocked sites that users have attempted to access. New Parental Control features include: The new option Interval time limit lets parents specify the amount of time that their children can spend on the computer. At night (the time period involved can be defined manually) computer access is blocked automatically. You can now either block access to files and folders completely or grant read-only access. Profiles can now be used to adjust Time-limit settings. Settings can be imported between user accounts. The Parental Control can be disabled for a specific account. To enable access to files and folders, there is no longer any need to clear the list of blocked objects or disable the Parental Control. A new website category called Online games has been introduced; access to it can be blocked. New Quarantine Manager administrative features ensure that quarantined objects are rescanned and backups are displayed, allowing users to restore deleted or cured files, if necessary. The new Dr.Web HyperVisor component, which runs on the lowest system level, greatly enhances threat detection and neutralisation and guarantees that all malware attempts (including malware that has yet to be discovered) to infiltrate the protected system or disrupt Dr.Web's operation will be thwarted. Managing whitelists of blocked devices is easier than ever: you can configure permissions for specific users or groups. Two access modes are now available for devices with a file system: ‘Allow all’ and ‘Read-only’. Updating the Dr.Web Control Service and the SpIDer Agent for Windows component no longer requires a restart. A separate pop-up notification about the need to restart the system after threats have been neutralised has been added; it is only displayed after the neutralisation of complex threats that can’t be removed unless the system is rebooted. A blocked device notification has been added to the settings for the option to block the use of specific devices. Anti-spam settings are now available alongside SpIDer Mail settings. A new option has been added to protect against BadUSB (for devices that emulate keyboards). Virus database updating can be run manually in the mobile mode. [...]

Tue, 24 May 2016 00:00:00 GMT

May 24, 2016

Doctor Web has released Subscription Control Center (SCC) 10.1 for its Internet service Dr.Web AV-Desk. The updated version offers new features for resellers and Dr.Web anti-virus service subscribers and delivers fixes for known defects.

A new trial subscription policy has been introduced for business customers. Now it’s also possible to configure security policies for subscriber passwords.

The update also provides a fix for a problem that caused errors when group administrators installed the software.

To ensure that the SCC works properly, the libraries that facilitate third-party software integration (php-avd and libdwavdapi) must be updated. If you have any questions, please contact Doctor Web’s specialists.

Lattelecom makes Dr.Web Anti-virus service available to users in three countries

Thu, 19 May 2016 00:00:00 GMT

May 19, 2016

Russian anti-virus company Doctor Web announces the deployment of the Dr.Web AV-Desk Internet security service by the Baltics’ leading telecom operator and IT provider—Lattelecom. Now that company's business customers who use virtual resources and cloud solutions can subscribe to the Dr.Web Anti-virus service, making it possible for many companies in three countries to enjoy reliable computer network information security.

Lattelecom is a modern and reliable telecommunications and IT provider serving CIS countries and the Baltics. It offers comprehensive IT services and solutions, and implements and deploys IT infrastructures in data centers according to its customers’ individual needs. Under the partnership programme with Doctor Web, Lattelecom will provide the Dr.Web service to its users in Russia, Ukraine, and Latvia.

When choosing the Dr.Web AV-Desk Internet service as a way to offer anti-virus protection on a subscription basis, Lattelecom specialists were initially attracted by the following subscriber benefits: the service requires no license costs (instead, there’s just a monthly subscription fee), and it’s economical and compatible with a wide range of operating systems, including mobile and network protocols.

Among the service’s other advantages, Lattelecom appreciated the fact that the service can be offered in a pay-as-you-go format, without further formality; can be managed centrally; is competitively priced; and has a Web API that can be integrated with its own platforms.

“Lattelecom’s target audience for the Dr.Web Anti-virus service is business customers who use virtual resources and Lattelecom Cloud solutions and value the opportunity to manage risks, including those related to IT security and data storage. Despite the broad accessibility of free anti-virus products, they are not always able to offer business customers the features they need and high-quality service. That is why Lattelecom is offering its customers a managed service that will provide the IT infrastructure needed and a high level of technical support”, said Zigurds Cirulis, Director of International Business Development of Lattelecom.

About Lattelecom

Lattelecom (Latvia) is the largest telecommunication carrier and integrator in the Baltics. Founded in 1994, Lattelecom provides such IT services as electronic communication, telecommunication, network design and construction, and Data Centres (DC). Lattelecom offers data transfer solutions; call centre services; and software development and support; and develops, introduces, and arranges data centre IT infrastructures. That plus its many years of experience implementing and supporting SAP systems give it the right to be called an innovation partner for its clients. Lattelecom has four full-featured commercial Data Centres in operation, one of which is the first and only DC in Eastern Europe to be certified under the standards TIER III FACILITY and TIER III DESIGN (Uptime Institute, USA). Furthermore, this DC is the first to receive the status of PCI DSS services provider in the Baltics—this certificate confirms compliance with the international standards applicable to any company that processes, stores, or transfers cardholder payment data and electronic financial transactions. Lattelecom DC services are used by over 140 major US, CIS, and EU companies.
