Comment on Impressive Vocal Ranges of 6 Rock Singers by Gudrun

Sun, 04 Feb 2018 18:56:36 +0000

You can't really choose between a tenor voice like Freddie had or a heavy metal husky voice like Mike Matijevic? and btw where is Ian Gillian.. this is a very strange list anyway...

Comment on Hearing Test – Can You Hear This? by the security guy

31 years old, I worked in a machine shop with loud equipment for 3 years, and I have been installing residential, and commercial security systems for 5 the last years. I stand 2 - 3 ft away from sirens that range 85 DB to 155 DB for anywhere between 10 minutes, and 30 minutes. All with no ear protection I was able to hear up to 20 khz with volume at 30% all of them painful, everything after that i was not able to hear but my ears still hurt while they were playing (i think it's due to my headphones, and speakers though. I have always been sensitive to high noises, but my problem is i have problems hearing low frequency. its been years since i have had an actual hearing test though, so i don't think this test means much.

Comment on Can you hear like an audio engineer? by Mod

As an ex audio engineer, I am pleased to report that I got 4 out of 4. Seriously this test is not hard. If you REALLY want to sort out the men from the boys, do a test where you have to determine between a 250ms delay between sounds and a 500ms delay. And even a 150ms delay. THAT is the day to day stuff of audio engineers.

Comment on Do 320kbps mp3 files really sound better? Take the test! by Stathis

There is a difference, yes, but it depends also on what recordings you're listening to (e.g. I'm listening mostly to 20's-50's jazz and the FLAC makes little (if any) difference even with a high end system, and the FLAC still doesn't sound like the actual vinyl or shellac. Most 60's- late 80's music, with the exception perhaps of Dire Straits and Pink Floyd is shittily recorded also (fast, cheap productions). Now if you're listening to good productions, like big classical projects with shitloads of microphones and good mastering, then yes it does make a difference. Given that 192 kbps sounds almost like a CD already, you would need a very good system and a super good recording to tell a HUGE difference. The good thing with the FLACs now is that there's no reason to do 320 anymore, either you do 192 to save space, or you do FLAC.

After listening to the samples of 1 and 2 I got it wrong; I picked choice 2. And I was surprised because I couldn't hear the difference of the music because I used to play music so I thought I could tell. After I listened to the different samples again I can hear the symbols from the drum set is from sample 1 is more sharper and longer than in sample 2. In sample 2 it's sounds a bit shorter and machine made rather than being authentic. While in sample 1 the symbols sounds more metallic.

Mom's Allple Pie (on Brown Bag Records) showing a woman licking her lips holding a pie with a slilce missing that looked like a vagina... Mama Lion 45 sleeve (possibly lp as well) shwoing the singer breast feeding a lion cub...

I'm 19, and I can hear almost all of the tones. I'm used to the high pitched tones associated with powering on old tv sets, but occasionally I hear the tones at random points of time in my day. I can legitimately hear all up to 18k, but feel the higher tones. The tones are almost painful no matter the volume level that is set.

Comment on “Hard Day’s Night” Mystery chord solved using math by bruce

Your all wrong. There is only one way to play this chord. Hold your guitar halfway up the neck, raise the guitar about three feet off the floor, now drop the guitar onto the floor and you'll get the same sound. I have done this many times when Iv'e been as pissed as a parrot. Unintentionally of course, but there you have it Cheers Bruce.
