Marriage Equality Voting

Fri, 09 Nov 2012 17:18:41 +0000

Marriage Equality continues to be a controversial issue even to this day, but recent news has shown that the United States is finally making progress. We have taken a huge step forward by re-electing our president, rather than Mitt Romney, who is not at all supportive of marriage equality. The stereotype has been that women are typically more conservative than men concerning same-sex marriage, but The Huffington Post discredited this stereotype. There is definitely a gender gap, but the conservative views go to the men more than the women.

Inside A Woodstove

Mon, 25 Jan 2010 17:16:04 +0000

(image)   This picture is of fire. I tried to get a stop action, and that’s how it came out. I don’t remember what shutter speed I used. This is an action because it is fire stopped. You can see the flames at the top and the log in the foreground. The log is a diagonal. When I shoot this picture I didn’t think it was going to work out, but it did. I like how the fire isn’t taking up the whole screen.

Medal Rooster

Mon, 25 Jan 2010 17:15:12 +0000

(image) This is a picture of a metal rooster. I’m not sure what the mood is saying. I moved the rooster into a better lit room and found something textured for the background. The lines on the background are diagonal. The only things I don’t like about this picture is that there is nothing else in it and that there is a dark line on the left side.

12:05

Mon, 25 Jan 2010 17:13:41 +0000

(image) In this photograph there is a clock, a light and a little bit of a basket. For the mood of this picture it’s relaxed. I saw the clock and the light and decided to take a picture of it. There are a lot of diagonals in this picture. Also the light is a lead line to the clock.

Saving A Kitty

Mon, 25 Jan 2010 17:12:22 +0000

(image) This is a picture of my Dad. In this picture of my Dad holding a cat. His face and the cats face are both on third lines. For this picture I couldn’t get the three spots on his jacket to darken.

Hero Dad

Mon, 25 Jan 2010 17:09:36 +0000

(image) This picture is of my dad as you can tell by the picture that he is a firefighter. In this picture he is smiling and in a weird pose so you can tell that he is goofy.  His eyes are on a top third line and his hands are almost on the sides third lines. I didn’t think this assignment was very challenging because we just had to take pictures of people showing something about them. I like this picture because he has a serious job but is acting goofy.

Print 2 Lobster

The aspect of place I tried to capture in this image was one of the main things that not just Rockland but Maine state in general is known for. I would say that this photograph isn’t of something very recognizeable if you have been to Rockland. This shot was taken mainly for a coastal Maine kind of view. This shot is a little cliché and maybe you could call postcard worthy. Some compositional elements in this photo are lead lines. The lead line in this photo would be of the lobsters back. Your eyes start more towards the head of the lobster and work their way down to the bottom left hand corner of the picture. This roll of film was definitely easier than the first roll of film we did. A 5 filter was used on this shot and I don’t see much to change with it. I like the way most everything looks good and the shading on the houses with the way the light was on the houses casting a shadow.

Lobster Tank

Fri, 18 Dec 2009 19:17:06 +0000

I tried to capture a Coastal maine kind of feel so I just tried to get pictures of Boats and things that kind of thing so the person who looks at the picture knows where it was taken.  I took pictures of Lobster boats and a painting of a Lobster on an oil tank with a Doc in front of it. I think those two pictures basically screamed Coastal maine. I chose the boats because I remembered seeing a picture of a line of boats like that on a post card or on the internet or something. If I could retake that picture I would have cut out a piece of the edge to it just showed the boats and there wasn’t an empty space. The printing from this role was Harder I must have done the Lobster picture about 10 or more times. But I cant really compare yet because I had 1 picture come out besides the rockland photos so it was probably easy compared to what im going to have to do.

Mystery In Rockland

Fri, 04 Dec 2009 19:17:32 +0000

(image) This picture was taken is Rockland, Maine. Because of the water you can tell that is on the coast.  You can also see rocks in both bottom corners. This is also the type of thing that if you saw it you would just pass over it. I had to do a lot of burning. The big light spot in the bottom right corner was burned for a lot of time and it still wouldn’t show up. I had to do many tries of this picture. If I could do it again I would probably keep trying to burn the spot, and a lot the top of the rock to the left of it.

Along The Rockland Coast

Fri, 04 Dec 2009 19:14:30 +0000

(image) Also in this picture I was going for a coastal Maine look. This picture is of bouy in Rockland. In the background you can see the water and also on the right you can see rocks. This is the type of the picture that if you actually saw the bouy you would probably glance over it without a second thought. This is also because I had to climb on top of it to take this. I love this picture because it has many diagonals and lead lines. I also like the way that the shadows of the spikes show up. This picture had A LOT of burning in different areas. For burning in some spots I also had to use a 00 filter. The only thing I would change about this picture is that the water around the handle on the left side is dark. I would burn this for less next time. Overall I think that this picture is good.

Ageing Anchor

Fri, 04 Dec 2009 19:08:35 +0000

(image) This is a picture of the top of an anchor. This represents Maine because Maine is known for it’s fishing. It is a less prominent way of showing a coastal picture, because it isn’t focused on a boat or water. I choose this picture because of the shape, the texture and also because I like how you can see boats in the background. The slight tilt of the handle looking part is bringing your eye to the boats at the bottom. Also the whole picture is slightly crooked. The contrast of colors brings your eye to the shadow of the handle. Printing this picture was harder than the first because I hate to burn the top of it. The only thing I don’t like so much about this picture is the dark spot on the top right corner.
