Comment on Which Press Release Outlet Works Best for You? by Jason Noel

I have to agree with pdxsx in that building relationships with reporters is the best way to go. Initially if you haven't developed a relationship yet, the best way to go would be to submit a press release through PRWeb.com. After you've submitted your release, wait a couple days and see what reporters pickup your release. At that point you can reach out to those reporters and start a relationship that way. Thoughts....

Comment on From the Intern’s Point of View: Six Tips to Finding Bloggers by Hannah Santucci

Jessie, These tips are so useful for looking for the "right" bloggers to read, not that there are wrong bloggers, but you know what I mean, influential people to read. Personally, I am not a fan of google reader because I can never seem to get things to load correctly. Now that I've read your blog I want to look at "Google Blogs" to help me search for just blogs because we all know the dread when you type in "pr blogs" into google and get 50 pages of results. Though, I have a Twitter I never thought to look for bloggers through their tweets. What do you think about websites like Tumblr? Is it more for personal blogging or can you find substantive blogs about public relations and communications?

Hi Jesse You have a wonderful blog full of very useful information. I run a local blog http://www.dazzlingdailydeals.com I have worked with many PR companies wide spread but was wondering if you have any pointers for me on a more local base. I see a lot of your contacts on the sidebar but I'm not sure who is blogger friendly or not. Thank you very much for any advice you have

Great summary, Jesse! I think this is going to make it into my winter course packet for J452 (my fall course packet is already being printed).

Comment on Is it Possible to be an Upper-Level Intern? by jessimckain

I agree there is such a thing as an "upper-level intern." This is someone who is entrusted with many important responsibilities. The more you go above and beyond and impress them with the assigned work, the more responsibility you get. It sounds like you have a great gig, Jesse! Hopefully this will lead to full-time employment for you... here or elsewhere.
