I see nothing wrong with the letter. It was professional and straight to the point. Of course B&N are going to try and get previous Borders customers to buy from them. It's only natural. Me being an old Borders customer, I am certainly going to now purchase from B&N.Wed, 19 Oct 2011 20:17:01 +0000
The tone of the message really doesn't matter. Making it opt-out instead of opt-in caused me to immediately click through and opt-out. The fact the confirm link for the opt-out then took more than an hour to reach my inbox only made me angrier.Wed, 19 Oct 2011 16:41:15 +0000
There's one key flaw in the approach: it's opt-out rather than opt-in.
