Made primarily from Tempranillo and a smattering of Graziano and Garnacha, this Rioja, which was aged in oak for 12 months, is "medium purple-colored", with "aromas (and flavors! - CH) of cedar, violets, spice box, and black cherry. Forward, spicy and nicely balanced, this tasty effort can be enjoyed now and over the next 6 years. Bodegas Darien’s new releases represent very good value." - eRobertParker.com, #189, June 2010, 87 points This Rioja has it ALL going on; you won't believe that you paid so little for it! - CH DON'T FORGET TO ORDER 12 BOTTLES!

Buy the Case 2009 Falua Tinto Tejo, Portugal

2013-03-24 20:44:22 -0400

ORDER 12 BOTTLES; DISCOUNT TABULATES AUTOMATICALLY TO $66. I've done a pretty good job of restocking my wine supply - one look at my dungeon and you would never know the beating it took over the holidays. I am aging some bottles and saving the others for special occasions, though, so I need to buy some wines that are available for immediate, everyday consumption. The problem is, my wallet is telling me to ease back on the wine splurges but my palate has been really spoiled. I need high quality, delicious juice that totally and wholeheartedly belies its ridiculously cheap price. Sounds like quite the conundrum, doesn't it? When you find yourself in my shoes, look no further than Portugal. This little coastal European country is a hotbed of sleeper wine regions - places that are not well-known to much of the wine drinking public but are chock full of bargains with price-to-quality ratios that CAN'T. BE. BEAT. Somebody (my husband, the buyer, maybe?) was thinking of me (and our budget, maybe?) when he brought in today's Buy the Case Special, the 2009 Falua Tinto from Tejo, Portugal. When I poured some of this wine into a glass my nose was hit HARD - in a good way - with blackberry jam and spice. My happy nose was soon to be followed by a very pleased palate, thanks to the wine's full body, velvety texture and notes of dark berry fruits, black pepper and spice. The wine finished long, too, with good acidity and grippy tannins, which brought it all into beautiful balance. I couldn't believe all this could be MINE for only $5.50 per bottle! It can be yours too, of course, but act quickly. Our supply is limited and once it is gone, it is gone! - CH DON'T FORGET TO ORDER 12 BOTTLES!

3 Case Craft Beer Feature: Sierra Nevada Ruthless Rye IPA SAVE 60%

2013-04-21 13:37:51 -0400

ORDER ONE (1) UNIT- DISCOUNT TABULATES AUTOMATICALLY TO $48. Today's Badass Craft Beer Buy the Case Special (3 CASES!!!) is the most recent spring entry from Sierra Nevada Brewery out of Chico, CA. Ruthless Rye IPA has been well-received by craft beer critics and enthusiasts alike. Former Boston Globe Craft Beer writer Steve Greenlee had this to say about Ruthless Rye: "All around, this is a perfect spring beer -- not too heavy, not too aggressive, not too bitter, but full of flavor and easy to drink. In a rye beer, malted rye subs for a portion of the malted barley, giving the beer a spicy kick. Add a big dose of hops, and you've got yourself a rye IPA. Ruthless Rye pours clear copper with two fingers of foam. The aroma is spicy and grassy -- the hops in this beer run more toward earth and pine than citrus, though hints of orange peel come through in the taste. The beer has a strong malt profile, so this is a well-balanced beer, one that's not very bitter despite its IPA status." Craft Beer Fanatics.... this offer is ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS!!! This is a cellar-stocker for sure!! At $48 for 3 cases, you are getting 72 bottles of delicious brew from one of the folks who helped put craft beer on the map. That is only 67 cents per 12 oz bottle!! We have purchased every case available from our distributor and supply is going to be fairly limited. This product is FRESH with a bottle date at the end of January 2013. Grab your cases today and enjoy ALL Spring and Summer long. REMEMBER TO ORDER ONE (1) UNIT. 1 UNIT EQUALS 3 CASES!

2014-04-07 18:38:59 -0400

ORDER 12 BOTTLES; DISCOUNT TABULATES AUTOMATICALLY TO $79.20. If you are a regular shopper of our Buy the Case Specials and you are a Chianti Classico fan, chances are you pulled the trigger on the 2007 Borgianni Chianti Classico, an absolutely outstanding Chianti Classico made by a renowned producer from a stellar vintage. We bought as much as we possibly could because of the outrageous price-to-quality ratio and sold quite a bit of it. We have some bad news and some good news. The bad news is that the 2007 has pretty much sold out and the 2008 vintage will soon be on the market at a much higher price. The good news? There is a little bit of the 2007 left - AND WE GOT IT! OK, about the wine: Borgianni is the second label of Castello Volpaia, a winery AND a centuries-old, fortified village in the comune of Radda in Chianti Classico. The wine is named after a family who once owned Castello Volpaia and is an apt tribute. Made from 100% Sangiovese from the great vintage of 2007, it is medium-to-full-bodied, elegant yet powerful, with earthy, floral aromas and a palate of cherry, blackcurrant, oak, tobacco and spice. The tannins are firm on the mid-palate, yet the wine is velvety-smooth on the finish. Remember, what we have today is the last of this fabulous wine. The next vintage will be considerably more expensive. Get it while it lasts! THIS OFFER WILL EXPIRE ON WEDNESDAY, APRIL 23, 2014 - OR WHEN THE PRODUCT RUNS OUT! Buy the Case: 2007 Château Haut Sociondo Premières Côtes de Blaye Bordeaux, France

2014-04-13 21:07:54 -0400

ORDER 12 BOTTLES; DISCOUNT TABULATES AUTOMATICALLY TO $60. Take the LAST CHANCE to get the best Buy the Case of 2014! Today's Buy the Case Special, the 2007 Château Haut Sociondo Premières Côtes de Blaye, is a stunning, Right Bank Bordeaux that TOTALLY belies its puny price. How did we get our hands on such a phenomenal deal? Let me explain. One of the quirks of the wine business is that certain vintages - admittedly great ones - get TONS of press. The wines from these vintages receive lots of kudos - and often times their prices are jacked up accordingly. What about wines that come from other, less publicized vintages? 2005 and 2009 were stellar in Bordeaux, but what about 2006, 2007 and 2008? Here is the truth that every savvy wine customer should know: great wine is produced most years - and oftentimes very good vintages that exist in the shadows of the much publicized ones offer tremendous values. Such is the case with the Sociondo. It's an elegant, well-structured and downright delicious Bordeaux from a sleeper vintage, a wine that truly deserves its chance to shine in the spotlight, a wine THAT YOU CAN HAVE FOR A SONG! Medium bodied, this Merlot-Cab Franc blend from Côtes de Blaye beguiles the senses with aromas of brambly, dark fruits and flavors of cassis, blackberry and raspberry, cedar and mineral-tinged earth. Well-worth its original price tag of $15 per bottle, it tastes even better knowing you only paid $5! We have sold over 400 cases of this spectacular Bordeaux. We are down to our last few cases. What we have today is all there is! THIS OFFER WILL EXPIRE ON MONDAY, APRIL 28, 2014 - OR WHEN THE PRODUCT RUNS OUT! ORDER 12 BOTTLES; DISCOUNT TABULATES AUTOMATICALLY TO $80.00. Today's Buy the Case Special, the 2011 Bodega Cuarto Dominio "Tolentino" Pinot Grigio from Mendoza, Argentina, is going to grab you by the palate and take you by surprise. It is a FANTASTIC example of the magic that can be made when adventurous winemakers break with tradition and match Old-World grapes to new terroir. Bodega Cuarto Dominio is a small family winery owned by two 4th generation specialists in the art of viticulture and winemaking. Their dedication, passion and vision is evident in today's offering. Made from grapes grown in Mendoza's higher-altitude Uco Valley, this PG is indeed Pinot Grigio, elevated. The valley's location and resulting cooler climate allow for longer hang times for the grapes and greater sun exposure, making wines that are lushly-textured, complex and expressive. Buy the Case: 2011 Domaine Gayda "Flying Solo" Grenache/Syrah VdP

2014-05-12 18:37:46 -0400

ORDER 12 BOTTLES; DISCOUNT TABULATES AUTOMATICALLY TO $57.60. We got our hands on a few more cases of this wildly popular red. Get it while it lasts! What does a winemaker do when when he has some great juice that won't sell because it is packaged with a less-than-attractive label? He re-bottles - mid-vintage - with a brand-spanking-new design. What happens to all that great wine with the old packaging that is already in the distributor's warehouse? Bin Ends is what happens! This is the scenario that led to our acquisition of today's stellar Buy the Case Special, the 2011 Domaine Gayda "Flying Solo" Grenache/Syrah Vin de Pays. The winemaker realized too late that the lackluster label was not doing justice to the great wine inside the bottle, so he put a mid-vintage, second bottling re-design in the works. We were more than happy to take the old-labeled wine because we knew that what was inside was great. This Grenache-Syrah blend, named after "the pioneering aviators of the famous "Aeropostale" who risked life and limb to deliver the first post from France to Barcelona in 1918"* is medium-to-full-bodied and easy to love, with bright notes of red and black berries on the nose and velvety-smooth palate. Today, don't judge the book by its cover! *winery notes THIS OFFER WILL EXPIRE ON WEDNESDAY, MAY 28, 2014 - OR WHEN THE PRODUCT RUNS OUT! ORDER 12 BOTTLES; DISCOUNT TABULATES AUTOMATICALLY TO $72. It is not that often that I tell you, point blank, to buy a wine featured as a daily email. But today, I am TELLING those who love robust, complex, generous Italian red wines to PULL THE TRIGGER on today's Buy the Case Special, the 2009 Agricola Zaglia Refosco DOC Latisana Friuli! Honestly, when this wine was put in front of me last week, I thought for sure it was a much higher priced wine - one that we would sell as a Six-Pack or Three-Pack. I was absolutely shocked to find out that it was only $6 per bottle! The family-owned winery of Agricola Zaglia, located in the town of Latisana on the banks of the Adriatic sea, has the ideal terroir for the wildly intense Refosco grape and has absolutely hit it out of the park with this one - you would gladly pay $15 or $20 per bottle for it! OK, about the wine…dark purplish-red, it has aromas brambly, dusty, black fruits. The heady nose gives way to a full-bodied palate of wild red- and blackberries and black currants laced with savory herbs and tobacco-tinged earth. It is mouth-filling and smooth, yet a supple tannic structure undercuts the wine from the first sip through the long finish. Italian wine lovers-make sure you get a case of this fabulous red today before it runs out! THIS OFFER WILL EXPIRE ON WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 20, 2014 - OR WHEN THE PRODUCT RUNS OUT! Yup, the first Wicked Good Wicked Cheap Mystery Case of 2014 is here - and it's from the great, wallet-savin', red-wine lovin' country of Spain! You know we love Spain for the sheer diversity and high quality of well-priced red wines, so this deal was a no-brainer for us! Here are the deets: A small importer specializing in artisanally-produced wines grew a little bit too quickly and became overwhelmed with its rapidly-expanding portfolio. Unable to do justice to all of the wines it represented, it gave some of them up. Consequently, the local distributor that works with this importer was left with a few pallets of these terrific wines. What to do? This is when we swooped in, negotiated HARD and took all those wines off the distributor's hands! OK, on to the good stuff-here's what's in the mystery case: A Joven (young) Rioja (place) made from 90% Tempranillo and 10% Garnacha A Crianza (aged for 2 years before release) Toro made form Tinta de Toro, a Tempranillo clone A Crianza Alamansa, a Monastrell, Tempranillo and Cabernet blend A Reserva Carinena, a Tempranillo, Garnacha and Carinena blend A Joven Alamansa made from Garnacha and Syrah All of these wines are medium-to-full-bodied, with generous, luscious, fruit-driven flavors. BUY THE CASE: 2011 Trapiche Cabernet Sauvignon, Mendoza Argentina

2014-09-11 17:19:25 -0400

ORDER 12 BOTTLES; DISCOUNT TABULATES AUTOMATICALLY TO $48. The call just came in this afternoon. One of our top suppliers was shipped an oddball pallet of 2011 amongst a container of 2012 Trapiche Cabernet Sauvignon. When you are importing wine by the container load, it is border line unworkable to have an orphaned pallet of back vintage wine in your warehouse. The sample bottle arrived here at the store an hour later, and after popping the cork on the 2011 it was pretty clear that this would be a no-brainer deal for anyone looking for a good quality, everyday Cabernet. Some quick background info for you. Trapiche is one of the oldest producers in Argentina, having been established in 1882. They produce a wide range of wines from everyday to award winning, cellar worthy monsters. Trapiche has been so successful that they are currently the most widely exported winery in Argentina. Our point is this.. we are not talking about some private label, rehashed red wine that came off of a spicket. This wine is the real deal. Trapiche Cabernet Sauvignon will regularly be found priced around $10 bottle. The wine possesses a brilliant, deep purple hue and clean forward notes of cassis and blackberry. The palate is medium in weight with satisfying flavors of black fruits and spice. It is a versatile, food friendly red that over performs by a good measure for the money. This 2011 Trapiche Cabernet Sauvignon is being delivered to us tomorrow (Friday, September 12th) and will be ready for pick-up by 6PM that evening. There will be 56 cases (1 pallet) and nothing more behind it. Our supplier was motivated to make it go away fast and came up with a price that we could not refuse. We are passing along these savings to you, so we encourage you to order your case (or two) today before it is all gone. Buy the Case: 2012 Sa de Baixo "Palestra" Tinto Douro, Portugal 90 POINTS

2014-09-22 19:36:47 -0400

ORDER 12 BOTTLES; DISCOUNT TABULATES AUTOMATICALLY TO $72. Last month's Buy the Case Special, the 2010 Sa de Baixo "Palestra" Tinto Douro, was SO POPULAR we asked our suppliers if they could possibly get their hands on more. We asked, they delivered, BUT what we currently have in stock is all there is. So, this is your LAST CHANCE to get this fabulous, full-bodied red for only $6 per bottle! Portugal has become one of the leading go-to regions for high-quality, low-priced wines and has emerged as a leader in the production of outstanding red wine on the cheap. It is not uncommon to find a full-bodied, lushly-textured and delicious Portuguese red wine for under $10. This country just can't be beat on the price-to-quality ratio; today's 90-point stunner is everything you want in a rich, red wine - and no hefty price tag. Check it out! "This 22 hectare estate is owned and run by Dão Sul, a company founded in 1989 by four ambitious young partners, which now controls 220 hectares spread over 6 estates and 4 regions. Carlos Moura, the winemaker, completed a Masters in Oenology before taking over the reins in 2000. His aim is to emphasize the fruit character of each variety while remaining true to the regional style. His wines are all the more impressive because each one does taste typical of its region of origin while remaining commercially appealing. The "Palestra" is made at the Quinta Sá de Baixo in the Baixo-Corgo region of the Douro and is an equal blend of the great Port grapes Touriga Nacional, Tinta Barroca and Tinta Roriz. Quite deep purple red colored, the nose is full of ripe black fruits, notably mulberry and blackberry, with warm and spicy overtones. The palate is medium-to-full-bodied, richly-fruited yet surprisingly elegant and supple. The finish is warm and spicy, with gentle ripe tannins." - 90 points, Wine Enthusiast Magazine THIS OFFER WILL EXPIRE ON WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 8, 2014 - OR WHEN THE PRODUCT RUNS OUT! 2014-10-15 20:37:29 -0400

ORDER 12 BOTTLES; DISCOUNT TABULATES AUTOMATICALLY TO $78. Last week I had what I thought was just another day at the office - until I tasted today's Buy the Case Special, the 2005 Almarina Reserva Privads Syrah. I am not exaggerating when I say that I was completely bowled over by this wine. I assumed from the quality we would offer it as a rather pricey 3-Pack Special; I almost fell right outta my chair when I saw the price! Today, get a beautifully-aged, seamlessly layered, full-bodied, silky-textured red for the ridiculously low price of $6.50 per bottle! Just like Malbec in Argentina, Carmenere in Chile and Cabernet Sauvignon in Napa, today's offering is a gorgeous example of a wine made from a grape that has taken root in its adopted land and, with help from its new terroir, created a wine that is bigger and better than the sum of its parts. Made from 100% Syrah from the sleeper Spanish DO of Almansa in south eastern Spain, it was fermented in French oak barrels, followed by 12 months of aging in American oak. It has aromas of black fruits and spice, followed by a full-bodied palate of black cherry, blackcurrant, cassis, blackberry and vanilla, with undertones of underbrush and leather. Some tannic grip appears on the long, dry finish. Seriously, one sip of this wine will have you double-and tripe-checking your receipt - and laughing all the way to the bank. 2014-10-28 19:06:51 -0400

ORDER 12 BOTTLES; DISCOUNT TABULATES AUTOMATICALLY TO $72. I am a huge, HUGE fan of traditionally-made Rioja red wines. These gems from Spain are subtle yet beguiling; never content to explode with intense bursts of ripe fruit, they choose instead to subtly and gradually unfold on your palate, revealing their attributes layer by layer. Sounds expensive, doesn't it? While it is true that many of these reds are pricey, there are some that are very, very affordable, like today's Buy the Case, the 2012 Faustino Rioja VII "Tempranillo"! We have offered this wine before and we JUMPED on the opportunity to sell it again. Made by one of the preeminent winemaking families in the Rioja region, this little joven (young) wine delivers big time. Medium-bodied, it has a nose of earthy, dusty cherries and a palate of red cherries, raspberries and blackberries, with warm baking spices and vanilla on the finish thanks to 10 months of aging in American oak. Say yes to this lovely red-it will go with so many foods and it is great on its own. The best part? It's only $6 per bottle! At the 11th hour, we got word that our ALL-TIME FAVORITE southern Rhône Buy the Case Special was back - a new vintage, same unbelievable quality and an even better price! Naturally, we scrapped our original plans for today's email offering so that you could get your hands on the 2012 Camille Cayran Le Secret de Campane Rouge toute de suite!! We have LOVED this wine since we laid our eyes - and our palates - on it back in 2011. Silky-smooth, full of brambly fruits and extremely versatile, it became a customer favorite too. In fact, many of them ordered it not once, not twice, but three times! This lovely blend of Grenache, Carignan, Cinsault and Merlot comes from the principality of Orange in the southern Rhône Valley. Medium-bodied, it has aromas of dusty red berries and a palate of cherry, raspberry and strawberry fruits intertwined with notes of savory herbs. It is velvety-textured, yet finishes with firm acidity, making it a superb food wine. Try it with roast chicken, fish, meatloaf or pasta, or enjoy a glass all by its glorious self. You will easily deceive your friends into thinking you paid much more than $5 per bottle; you may even forget the price yourself! Buy the Case: 2011 Bodegas Volver "Paso a Paso" Tempranillo La Mancha, Spain

2015-03-02 08:31:41 -0500

ORDER 12 BOTTLES; DISCOUNT TABULATES AUTOMATICALLY TO $72. How do we top a wildly popular Six-Pack Special? We offer it as a Buy the Case Special at a better price! Our supplier is making room for the new vintages arriving in the spring - and we were more than happy to take the last of this delicious little gem off their hands. Take advantage of the Winter Wine Windfall and pull the trigger on today's Buy the Case Special, the 2011 Bodegas Volver "Paso a Paso" Tempranillo from La Mancha, Spain. A joint effort between renowned Spanish winemaker Rafael Cañizares and importer/wine consultant extraordinaire Jorge Ordoñez, Paso a Paso is made in the eastern region of the La Mancha DO in central Spain, where the chalky and iron-rich soil makes magic with the Tempranillo grape. "Paso a Paso" is Spanish for "step by step" and is an apt name for this carefully-crafted tribute to craftsmanship and terroir selection over mass-production. Its grapes were painstakingly hand-selected, fermentation and maceration were allowed to happen slowly and the wine was given all the time it needed to further develop before its release. No part of the winemaking process was rushed, thus compromising the finished product. One sip and you will agree. Check out the press: "Bright violet color. Assertive aromas of red berry preserves, spices and dried flowers, with a spicy note that builds with air. Juicy and focused in the mouth, offering fresh redcurrant and cherry flavors and very good energy. Fine-grained tannins add shape to the long, spice-accented finish. Like the organic version, this is a remarkable value." - 89 points, Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar, 9/2012 Believe us, this $6 bottle is $6 very well-spent! ORDER 12 BOTTLES; DISCOUNT TABULATES AUTOMATICALLY TO $72. Today's Buy the Case Special, the NV Pierre Sparr "Marquis de Perlade" Blanc de Blanc Vin Mousseaux de Qualité, France, elicited a collective "WOW!!" from all of us here at Bin Ends when we tasted it last week. This spectacular sparkler will have you double-checking your receipt. You will be astounded at the ridiculous quality to be found in this $6 bottle! Since the late nineteenth century, a small number of Alsace producers have been making sparkling wine. Following this tradition, "Marquis de Perlade" was introduced in 1996 by the Iconic winemaker Pierre Sparr. It is crafted in the Champagne method from Melon de Bourgogne, Chardonnay, Ugni Blanc and Pinot Blanc sourced from quality growers both within and outside the boundaries of Alsace. Pale yellow with fine bubbles sparkling in the glass, it has aromas reminiscent of white almonds, kiwis and strawberries, with a trace of white flowers. Opening in the glass, it shows tasty notes of hazelnut, peach and yeasty baked bread. Well-balanced and harmonious in the mouth, the fruity acidity lifts the palate with an agreeable freshness. Spicy notes of pistachio linger on the long aftertaste. (winery notes) This gorgeous (and dirt cheap!!!!) sipper is worthy of the most auspicious of occasions. It is a great value at its full price of $15 per bottle, but is an absolute steal at $6. We are happy to have you steal it from us! Buy the Case: 2013 Pierre Gaillard Domaine Madeloc Collioure Rosé "Cuvee Foranell" Roussillon, France

2015-06-02 22:05:03 -0400

ORDER 12 BOTTLES; DISCOUNT TABULATES AUTOMATICALLY TO $80. Some of the most compelling wines in the world are made from a combination of the southern French varietals Syrah, Grenache and Mourvèdre. The grapes, all wonderful on their own, create wines that are greater than the sum of their parts. This truth does not only apply to red wines; rosés made from these grapes are pretty stellar as well. Recently, one fell across our laps that blew us away - and we got it for a song! Stock up on summer rosé in high style with today's steal of a Buy the Case Special, the 2013 Pierre Gaillard Domaine Madeloc Collioure Rosé "Cuvée Foranell" Roussillon. Today's wine is made by craftsman extraordinaire Pierre Gaillard, who cut his teeth under the tutelage of Maurice Guigal (of the famed Rhône Guigal family), then struck out on his own in Saint Joseph and Côtes Rôtie. Not content to be confined within the borders of the northern Rhône, he set is sights on expanding his winemaking in the Roussillon and bought Domaine Madeloc in the AOC of Collioure in Banyuls. The schist soil and the warm climate, moderated by cooling ocean and mountain influences, is ideal for the cultivation of grapes. One sip of the "Cuvée Foranell" will make you completely forget that you only paid $6.67 per bottle! It was made in the soignée technique, which involves extraction of a percentage of juice after a very short maceration period; this preserves color, aromatics and flavor in the finished wine. It is full-bodied, with heady aromas and flavors of strawberry rhubarb, pomegranate and hints of raspberry. The fruit is generous but dry and is undercut by bracing acidity. The "Cuvée Foranell" is opulent and elegant. I would pay the full price of $20 per bottle without batting an eye; $6.67 is a no-brainer! We only have about 40 cases of this killer rosé. Once it is gone, it's gone. Fini. Done. No mas. Get it while it lasts! This wine will be available for pickup after 1PM today, Wednesday, June 3. Buy the Case Mystery Mania: PINOT GRIGIO SURPRISE Alto Adige, Italy

2015-06-11 13:30:37 -0400

ORDER 12 BOTTLES; DISCOUNT TABULATES AUTOMATICALLY TO $60. Way up on the cuff of Italy's boot, on the border of Austria, lie the Dolomite Mountains in the region of Alto Adige. The high altitudes and colder weather seem inhospitable to agriculture, but many "cool climate" grape varietals take on the challenge and thrive here. The makers of today's Mystery Case have been making wine there since the 19th century - and their Pinot Grigios are pretty spectacular! Snap up today's Pinot Grigio Surprise and laugh all the way to the bank! This PG is lushly textured and brilliant straw yellow in color, with floral, citrus and spicy aromas and a palate of green apple and pear, with hints of orange peel, vanilla custard and sweet baking spice on the fresh, racy finish. There is A LOT going on in this wine; one of the reasons that this PG is so complex is because of the winery's non-interventionist approach to winemaking. The winemakers let the grapes and terroir do most of the talking; they believe that too much interference in the process compromises the taste. This wine only sees light filtering and no cold-stabilization, so you will see some tartrate crystals on the bottom of the bottles. The little "wine diamonds" sometimes form on the bottom of such unadulterated bottles and have ZERO affect on the taste of the wine. To us, they are a sign that the winemaker is a rock star who refuses to compromise on quality! Our supply is very limited, so click quick! **We are selling this wine BUY THE CASE only - no single bottles!** IN ORDER TO EXPEDITE YOUR ORDER, PLEASE BRING IN A COPY OF YOUR RECEIPT FOR PICKUP. Buy the Case: 2010 Weingut Eifel-Pfeifer "Heinz Eifel" Riesling Spätlese Mosel, Germany

2015-08-11 21:48:02 -0400

ORDER 12 BOTTLES; DISCOUNT TABULATES AUTOMATICALLY TO $78. Rieslings are among the most complex white wines on the planet; the gifts they bestow on their consumers are almost an embarrassment of riches: ripe stone and citrus fruits and bracing acidity; secondary, layered flavors that lend complexity; versatility; youthful exuberance as well as age-worthiness. It is no surprise that Rieslings - especially those from Germany - can command pretty high prices. Though well-worth the splurge, it is a pretty exciting day when we discover a stunning German Riesling at a price the kids today would call ridic. We were positively giddy over today's Buy the Case Special, the 2010 Weingut Eifel-Pfeifer "Heinz Eifel" Riesling Spätlese from Mosel, Germany. A quick primer on German Rieslings: They are classified based on the levels of residual sugar of the grapes during harvest; the measurement usually coincides with the level of sweetness in the finished wine. Today's offering is a Spätlese, which literally means late harvest. This wine is made from fully-ripened grapes that hang on the wine through late autumn; they are relatively high in residual sugar and the wine is lushly-textured, with rich, sweet fruit undercut by balancing acidity. One sip and we fell in love; its aromas of wet stone and peaches give way to luscious flavors of more peaches, apricots, pineapple and orange rind. Riesling devotees are going to be all over this. For those of you who have yet to be enraptured by these magical wines, get it NOW before our limited supply runs dry! ORDER 12 BOTTLES; DISCOUNT TABULATES AUTOMATICALLY TO $60. LET'S TURN UP THE GAS ON DAY TWO OF BIN ENDS CUSTOMER APPRECIATION WEEKEND!!! My first experience with this afternoons BUY THE CASE Feature occurred while enjoying an outstanding plate of oysters at a local restaurant with a reputation for having an outstanding wine program as well as serving "the freshest fish in town". Already being familiar with the excellent selection of Sauvignon Blancs and Muscadets and the like on the By the Glass list, this Grechetto, a regional specialty from the region of Umbria in Italy jumped right out as a wine with real possibilities. Boy was that an understatement, as this tasty selection from Cantina Goretti had so much going on that it was up to the task of pairing with the rest of my meal from lobster bisque to grilled sea bass. Some of my best finds take place in some of this town's finest restaurants. It's tough work I know ;) Cantina Goretti was founded at the turn of the last century and is currently under the guidance of it's third and fourth generation of family leadership. Located in the Perugia district of Umbria, the Cantina is one of the most highly regarded producers in the region. For those who might not be familiar, Umbria has long had a great reputation for producing crisp, lively white wines. An ancient seabed, the vineyards here are abundant with aquatic fossils and mineral-rich soils. Combine this with an ideal climate and Grechetto, an indigenous variety, produces a wine of wonderful character and versatility. Kerin O'Keefe of the Wine Enthusiast describes this wine brilliantly in her review of 2/14: Wine Enthusiast: Rated 89 Points "Here’s a beautiful white that opens with an enticing floral fragrance of acacia flower and Spanish Broom, accented by a whiff of beeswax. The palate delivers ripe pear, peach, pineapple and banana alongside quenching, crisp acidity. It has a dry, nutty finish." KO As we always do when we come across an exce[...]

Trust me on this one, folks, one sip and you will feel the same way! A little background: Rosso Piceno is a DOC that was established in 1968 and covers most of the southeastern portion of the Marche region. Wines called Rosso Piceno must be made primarily from Sangiovese and Montepulciano; other native varietals can make up to 15% of the blend. These wines exist in the shadow of wines from neighboring Tuscany and Umbria - which is a good thing for you. Why? So, when you purchase a Rosso Piceno, you are getting great bang for your buck. OK....ABOUT THIS FABULOUS WINE! This 50/50 Sangiovese Montepulciano blend is a guaranteed crowd-pleaser that will be enjoyed by all manner of red wine lovers! Rich, full-bodied and velvety-textured, it has floral-accented, berry-driven aromas and flavors of Bing cherries, raspberries, blackberries and hints of cranberries and pepper. There are a myriad of ways in which great wines at unbelievable prices become available to us. Sometimes there are wines that we work diligently to acquire; sometimes spectacular deals just fall into our laps. This week we had one of those days where the wine gods smiled upon us and gave us something really special, this afternoon's Buy the Case Special, the 2013 Actea Tempranillo from La Mancha, Spain. A bit of background: This is a private label wine made for a national restaurant chain. The chain recently overhauled its wine list, but there were a few cases of this little gem left behind. We saw a great opportunity and pounced on it! The Actea hails from La Mancha, in Central Spain, a huge wine-producing region and one of the country's best sources of well-priced red wines. It is a medium-to full bodied table wine (Tierra de Castilla), with aromas of dusty red fruits and a palate redolent of Bing cherries, black raspberries and black currants, with underlying notes of vanilla, toast, baking spices and brambly earth. We absolutely loved it and we think you will too. Act quickly, because we only have about 25 cases and it will disappear! Buy the Case: 2011 Tenuta Cavalier Pepé "Nestor" Greco di Tufo DOC Campania, Italy

2016-01-13 07:54:57 -0500

ORDER 12 BOTTLES; DISCOUNT TABULATES AUTOMATICALLY TO $80. This past July, while traveling and tasting my way through Campania, I spent a day in the town of Tufo, located in the province of Avelina, not too far from Mount Vesuvius. The vineyards here are some of the steepest that I've come across in Italy and are composed of volcanic rock at an altitude of 1500 feet above sea level. Tufo stone mines wind their way through the hillsides deep beneath the vineyards and the dark black volcanic stones cut from the earth are used for architectural purposes throughout Italy. Along with the incredible landscape and beautiful vineyards, I was also intrigued and enraptured by some delicious white wines that had a bit of bottle age on them, wines such as today's Buy the Case Special, the 2011 Tenuta Cavalier Pepé Greco di Tufo. On this side of the pond, we customarily consume southern Italian white wines while they are still young and very fresh. It was a wonderful surprise to taste the layers of complex fruit characters that develop with just a couple of years in the cellar. WOW! Greco is a transplant to Campania, having arrived in the Avelino province by way of ancient Greek settlers well over 1000 years ago. Our featured wine is called "Nestor" after the great Homeric hero who was said to indulge in the wine of this region. Flash forward to today, and the soil conditions in Tufo continue to be ideal for the varietal, which thrives in the volcanic soils, warm Mediterranean days and cool mountain nights. The resulting wines, crafted from hand-harvested fruit that sees extended aging on the lees and no oak, are a magical balance of balanced acidity, concentrated, mouth-filling weight, and dazzlin[...]

ORDER 12 BOTTLES; DISCOUNT TABULATES AUTOMATICALLY TO $48. Well we thought that we had heard it all folks, but we have just added a new one to our list.  A little over a week ago we received a call from one our suppliers regarding a container that had just arrived from California with a shipment of 15-packs of assorted varietal wines from one of the most widely recognized and popular wineries in the United States... Beringer Vineyards. The 15-pack case format is very popular with the supermarkets and wholesale club stores, particularly here in New England. Over the last few years these "max-pack" cases have become the standard pack/size for many of these popular brands. In any event, tucked in among the 1200 or so cases of "max-pack" pallets on this one particular container, was a pallet of standard 12-pack Beringer Pinot Grigio cases. That my friends is "an issue" for a large distributor which relies on accuracy and efficiency to keep the trains running on time. Well their issue is your opportunity folks.  We recently chilled down a bottle of this Pinot Grigio to make sure this dog would hunt, and were pleased to find that the wine displays plenty of varietal character. Poured into the glass, you immediately recognize the brilliant pale lemon hue that typifies Pinot Grigio. On the nose, the wine presents as clean with fruit forward aromatics of honeydew melon and citrus. The palate is very crisp and ref[...]
