Never underestimate the political human's willingness to cheat even when to all appearances, they are going to win anyway. See little dirty trickster Don Segretti and the links to the President of the United States in rigging the 1972 election and covering up Watergate. Muskie was knocked out of contention for the Democrats in the primaries due to lies spread about his personal life. McGovern was never close to winning that 1972 contest with Richard Nixon. Stupid? Clearly. So stupid and unnecessary they wouldn't have done it? Never. And it was two young reporters who were only concerned with asking questions and following the story wherever it led who uncovered the break-in and links to the coverup and beyond. Take the story where it leads.

Regarding the dustup, it's simple, Ontario can't start saying all is great because it isn't. Whether Alberta does well, we can't cowtow to that province. We are all canadians together and it would serve no purpose to simply state 'yeah we like you oil and we don't care about ourselves' Reality states the high dollar has affected Ontario gravely in the manufacturing sector. As McGuinty stated, a National Energy Strategy should be brought about. For myself, I fancy this: a country shedding the yokel of colonial attitudism, not looking of liberating itself of all of its natural resources until they are depleted but taking a well thought course of action to ensure all sectors could develop and grow across the country. In the end, as resources deplete, we need to ensure that the other sectors have remained vibrant, our people educated and able to whether the economic conditions in Canada and our country avoiding or minimizing the effects of global downturns. Again, with McGuinty, he took a conciliatory tone today as we know that's what you do. There are no sides to take here, it'a all about Canada and Canadians.
