Senior EAP (English for Academic Purposes) Tutor & Materials Developer (Part-Time) (SA9123B)

The English Language Centre (ELC) is seeking to appoint a suitably qualified and experienced EAP professional to join their team in order to provide teaching, materials development and language testing.

The ELC is a professional service located in the Student Services department of the University of Lincoln. The service provides English language support for international students both before and during their programme of study. The University of Lincoln is committed to enhancing the international student experience through the development of the English Language Centre.

This post is 25 hours a week, 52 weeks per year. The focus for this post will be on teaching and materials development for our teacher training course (for students who wish to gain experience in teaching ESL), as well as assisting in the delivery of our in-house language test (LELPT). The successful candidate's annual schedule is likely to be as follows: test delivery in spring, materials development in summer and teaching duties in winter.

If you are successfully appointed to a Professional Services role and your start date is on or after 1st April 2018 you will be employed by UOL Services Ltd. UOL Services Ltd offers the Universities & Colleges Retirement Savings Scheme (UCRSS).

This position does not fulfil the UK Visas & Immigration sponsorship criteria for Tier 2.

The University of Lincoln ICT Services is looking for an Information Services Developer who has a proven track record in designing, developing and supporting business solutions. Exposure to virtual learning environments is desirable, as is an understanding of data integrations, solution design and development standards. The ideal candidate will have extensive and demonstrable software development and solution support experience. 

You will have extensive experience of working across complex architectures using a wide range of products, development languages (such as C#, PHP and Java) and relevant design patterns. You will also have the ability to communicate and influence at all levels, the ability to present information concisely and clearly, possess up-to date knowledge in your field and have an inquisitive mind-set towards leading edge technology and associated vendors.

The award winning Careers and Employability Team work in partnership with academic colleagues across all colleges to raise the profile and level of engagement with our service for both staff and students.  In addition to this we work closely with external organisations to create employment opportunities for both students and graduates. 

In an increasingly competitive graduate labour market, many of our students may lack the confidence or face real or perceived barriers to progression and fulfilling their ambitions.  This new and exciting role will therefore focus on supporting students to overcome these challenges and increase their confidence, to raise their aspirations and therefore the employment outcomes of our students.
