Would have loved to go to this show, but it sold out crazy fast. Excited to see Hot Chip in July at Prospect Park!

I'm bummed I was out of town for this show... I wish I could have made it. Brooklyn Bowl is such a great venue for Toots!

Curses! Looks are important, but I was hoping for a review of NL's performance (you know, the music) not just his persona.

M83 is straight magic live. You're absolutely right, the addition of backing musicians gives an extra element that goes years beyond the album. Can't wait to see them again for their 2012 tour.

I finally got "Smoke Ring for my Halo" last week and I can't stop listening to it. It will surely be the next Album of the Week for Mr. Harris's English class.

Comment on Beirut and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Fun Concert by Rachel

Amanda! (AL?!)- Thanks for your comment. It's funny how much we demand from our most beloved bands when we shell out the money to see them in person. In a way, it's shocking when they do rise to meet our bursting expectations for them. Of course, it's their job to please and delight us with their passion. But perhaps it's our job to make the best of it and, barring their OD on stage (which would probably be a great story in itself), just juice those lemons til we're sipping delicious dancing lemonade! The concert is up to them, but the enjoyment is up to us.

Rachel! 1) great post! 2) I wholeheartedly agree it is possible to have a great time at a let down show e.g I went to Outsidelands this summer and The Black Keys (although phenomenal) did not bring the noise I was eager to hear. Physically, they looked haggard/ hungover and although vocally still wonderful, it wasn't quite the concert I was hoping/yearning for! Their lack of energy and enthusiasm left me wondering why everyone told me they were so amazing live. Yet, I of course still got down and had a fun time with good people and great fans. -JL's sister and loyal reader
