That first C.S. Lewis quote describes my reading strategy! :D I try to alternate between brand new books and older ones as best as I can.

The title's a bit of an oxymoron, isn't it? But that's just the thing to draw your attention to it. And sure, I'll try to remember to let you know what I think of it when I'm done. Ohhhhhhh I prefer editing! *lol* I'm a slow drafter, even with an outline and a clear-ish vision of the story and characters. I also overwrite my drafts, so as close as 63K should be to "done," I still have a ways to go. (So the answer to your January project question is, the same WIP. *lol*) But with the revising and editing stages, I feel comfortable with wordsmithing, cutting / chopping / condensing, and so on. And those phases tend to move faster than drafting for me, too. :) Merry Christmas to you, too!

Thank you so much for the encouragement! I needed it. :) Still life With Tornado, I'll have to look that one up. Let me know what you think when you're finished. 63K is amazing! You're almost there. Then you can start all the fun of editing. :) Which part do you like better, the drafting or the editing? I'm sort of an editing person, I think. Hope your week is off to a great start. Merry Christmas! Oh, will you be working on anything in January?

Sorry to hear that NaNo didn't work out for you. But writing does have to take a backseat when we have health issues or family priorities to focus on first, and I understand that (I'm sure most of your readers do as well). JaNoWriMo sounds like a good idea, btw. Especially once the holidays are over. I hope you'll be able to work that into your schedule! Right now I'm reading Still Life With Tornado by A.S. King, a YA magical realism novel about a high school junior and talented artist having an existential crisis while trying to understand why her family has fallen apart after a trip to Mexico. I'm only 50 pages in, so I don't have a strong opinion about it yet, but it's interesting so far. And I passed 63K on the first draft of my WIP last weekend! :)
