I'm with you both. Anything to bring down the cost of Absinthe. It is very costly and it's an extremely rare occasion for me.

LUCID: I have never tried the stuff, but my research on the stuff leads me to conclude, that it is probably a better mixer. What I mean by that is that it would be probably better used as an ingredient in a cocktail rather than the traditional louched approach. If you go to the Lucid website, there are in fact a number of cocktail recipies that look rather compelling.

Woohoo, you're back! I may not be the most regular commenter, but I love listening to you guys talk about absinthe -- and I have GOT to try some of the good stuff. Because tweeting on absinthe is fun!

Perique is awesome! It tastes nothing like what I would expect it to. Also Oliver Matter does the absinthe with coffee: Nouvelle Vague (New Wave) One of my favorite bands, Laibach, did the soundtrack for Iron Sky. If you are in to industrial music check it out.

Even for food advertising those ads are a bit much. If they made a better absinthe I'd defend them but as is the fake coloring in the bottle isn't too far off from the fake coloring actually in their absinthe.

I think the absinthe in the "stone jug" is Blanche Traditionelle Absinthe "Brut d'Alambic" Essai 5, available at Liqueurs de France.

I have no problem with you pimping my Booze Fairies, darlings -- the Absinthe, Sake and Chartreuse Fairies can be seen at, and orders can be submitted to Next up on the design table -- the Tequila Fairy. And I really, really need to set up an Etsy store...

Just found your podcast. THANK YOU! I am a fan of absinthe. I have a few differences and similarities to your taste. Grande Absinthe is horrid stuff. You can have my $70 bottle if you like. Yuck. I do love Kubler and actually enjoy Lucid. It's not Kubler, but is a far cry from the nasty La Tourmente. Keep it up! Very entertaining.

They only had the large bottle of Lucid, so I figured what the hell. It's not bad, and the buzz is quite mellow and pleasant. I HAVE had absinthe before, at the Old Absinthe House in New Orleans, but I don't know what brand they were using (all I know is that it was 120 proof).

Hi Bonnie! Le Tourment is not a ... it isn't ... I'm trying to put this as delicately as I can. :-) It's not wonderful. We're not so fond of Lucid, either, but we'd recommend Lucid over Le Tourment. The one lower-end absinthe we do recommend is called Kubler -- we drink that all the time, because quite frankly we can't always afford the ones we really really like.

Replaced my windshield. Must have been some chunk of something kicked up from the road. It hit the lower part of the windshield that actually hit the dashboard. 12 inches north and it would have whacked me skull. The guy who installed the glass left a pair of wire snips. I called the place he works at, and he never returned to pick them up, so I'm richer one pair of wire snips! Ok, this screed has gone on way too long. Pacificque Absinthe Rocks!!!

This is the best you guys have done in a long time. Keep up the good work. Still can't afford even a decent beer, but that being said, they added a bottle of St. George to the mix. I remember Dan in particular being enamoured of this, and I am encouraged by the monkey brand on the label. More to come as I wrestle with real life economics and absithe dreams....
