Re: Manny Machado to the Cubs

Not even remotely the issue.
It's about speed of access to the content, not the actual content.

Re: Manny Machado to the Cubs

Fri, 15 Dec 2017 19:43:57 -0000

Probably not as this blog has very little traffic compared to, say, netflix.
It will likely effect you negatively in download speeds when you stream content, if you do a lot of it. Net neutrality forbade your ISP from throttling that speed down.
If you want to know if it's a bad thing or a good thing, look at who lobbied for it to be struck down. Verizon, AT&T, The ISPs.
Who wanted is kept in place? Content providers and consumers.
Make your own call.

Nothing, it was a liberal hoax to censor the web. Government- "We have 5 conservative blogs and 1 liberal blog therefore this is not neutral. Remove 4 conservative blogs." The BS about costs increasing on your facebook or snapchat is serf bait so the useful idiots of the world support government censorship.

Faster fastballs. More spin on the curve. More exit felocity on the home run. Quicker wit on the replies.

Re: Manny Machado to the Cubs

Fri, 15 Dec 2017 14:43:41 -0000

Except Pujols has never had a 100 strikeout season

Re: Manny Machado to the Cubs

Fri, 15 Dec 2017 14:15:30 -0000

I was so looking forward to Joe batting the pitcher first.

Re: Manny Machado to the Cubs

Fri, 15 Dec 2017 14:14:46 -0000

It means that Joe will start charging a premium for anyone who asks about net neutrality.

Re: Manny Machado to the Cubs

Not trying to start anything political, but what will the repeal of net neutrality mean for this site?

Re: Manny Machado to the Cubs

Fri, 15 Dec 2017 13:30:19 -0000

Sure Pujols struck out a lot, but he also hit a lot of home runs, saw a lot of pitches, worked deep into counts, showed plate discipline, and put together good at-bats when he and Edmonds were in St. Louis.

Re: Manny Machado to the Cubs

Fri, 15 Dec 2017 12:09:13 -0000

When Edmonds and Pujols were in St. Louis, why did Edmonds always follow Pujols in the lineup?

Re: Manny Machado to the Cubs

Fri, 15 Dec 2017 11:40:51 -0000

I will wait until the line has been set in that case

Re: Manny Machado to the Cubs

Fri, 15 Dec 2017 11:29:30 -0000

I reserve the right to change the over under until opening day. The line could move depending on roster moves. I think Maddon should give everyone a chance to hit leadoff.

Re: Manny Machado to the Cubs

Fri, 15 Dec 2017 11:07:58 -0000

Agreed. He would be a huge upgrade offensively.

Re: Manny Machado to the Cubs

Fri, 15 Dec 2017 09:35:53 -0000

I'll take the under on 10.5

Re: Manny Machado to the Cubs

Fri, 15 Dec 2017 09:20:54 -0000

I was listening to the radio about the sox trading for Machado and the asking price from the O's was ridiculous. The O's would probably want more than what you listed above, and I personally think that if the Cubs give them Russell, Happ and one more prospect that would be overpaying for two free agents to be.

Re: Manny Machado to the Cubs

Fri, 15 Dec 2017 08:53:14 -0000

Britton's health is a big concern. Plus he only has one year left on his deal. If the Cubs can get him for a prospect or two, then that's something to consider. But no way I'm giving up one of the young guys on the major league roster for him.

Re: Manny Machado to the Cubs

Thu, 14 Dec 2017 17:55:55 -0000

Probably more - although the Orioles know that Machado is a free agent after the season, so if they don't trade him now, they will trade him mid-season. It just depends on the haul they get offered, I suspect. He makes any team better - he's an impact player. The big question is what is he worth, and how desperate will Baltimore get before they realize "oh, shit, if we don't trade him we don't get ANYTHING." (Of course, they'd make him a qualifying offer, but any team that can get Manny Machado for cash plus a draft pick? That's a bargain.

Re: Manny Machado to the Cubs

Thu, 14 Dec 2017 17:52:47 -0000

I agree - I don't think it will happen...but I'm saying it wouldn't break my heart if it did.

Re: Manny Machado to the Cubs

Thu, 14 Dec 2017 15:12:47 -0000

Machado and Britton to the Cubs for Russell and Happ and maybe a prospect or two. Machado at SS and Javie at 2nd base. Or would the Cubs have to give up more?

Re: Manny Machado to the Cubs

Thu, 14 Dec 2017 15:12:31 -0000

I would say there is a 0.000001 percent chance the Cubs trade for Machado. But I also predicted they would sign Lance Lynn, so what do I know?

Re: Manny Machado to the Cubs

Thu, 14 Dec 2017 12:31:04 -0000

I wouldn't pay the price for Machado - they'll want way too much talent, but if he were on this team? If you somehow could swap him for just Russell and prospects? That's the scenario I'd need to keep Baez at second base and let Machado play short (which is his natural position and where he WANTS to play.) He is an absolute beast with a bat and would make this entire lineup far more formidable than it is.

Re: Manny Machado to the Cubs

Thu, 14 Dec 2017 11:21:16 -0000

Last season we had an over under on how many different lead off hitters Maddon would use at 7.5. I think in 2018 the over under should be 10.5

Re: Manny Machado to the Cubs

Sounds like Steve Cishek is joining the Cubs pen.

Maddon out smarts himself regularly.

Re: Manny Machado to the Cubs

Maddon likes to be brilliant. It's just how his personality is. Why do the expected when you might impress somebody with an innovation. I think it's stupid.
